Sounds like he realized he might have been an idiot to just blindly follow his agent's assurances that he could get a lot more money if he held out.

Awesome. I was hoping this would be how the story unfolded. I think he'll be very happy both with his deal, but also his coach. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be a punk.

I'll keep an eye to see what happens, but man some of the comments on the site are brutal. The fans are hoping that if he's dumb enough to still hold out that he gets picked at a much lower number in next year's draft.

Can't blame them though. He should have been in camp and on the field by now.

Crabtree should have put aside the greed and signed the offer long ago. If he wants a big paycheck, he should earn it. Earn his money, and some respect. Sadly, his get rich quick in the NFL Scheme was to milk the 49ers of much money as possible. When it does work, he threatens to go back into the draft next year. Selfish and childish. Now that he sees the 49ers win, he gets nervous. Still selfish.

Honestly, what would he accomplish re-entering the draft? He'll have already shown the rest of the NFL what a horrid attitude he has. Sure, there will be teams desperate enough to take a high maintaintence Wide Out (look at the Bill's, going after Owens). The difference is Owens has played a game in the NFL, many in fact, and shown that despite his mouth and Me-First attitude, he can produce. Crabtree doesn't have that luxury. And it's certainly not helping his image.

I was reading that San Fran holds his rights right up until draft day 2010. So, he can't even work out for any other teams. We all saw what happened to Mike Williams after sitting out a year. I doubt any teams would take a chance on him with a high pick, with the exception being the Raiders. :D

There needs to be stricter rules regarding draft pick salaries. It's getting ridiculous to see guys who haven't taken a snap in the NFL being paid more than veterans and holding out all because they were good in college.

Crabtree's an ungrateful spoiled brat, plain and simple. He deserves and has earned nothing in the NFL, and yet has the nerve to holdout until week 2 of the regular season. These rookie's heads are getting far too big for my taste.

The NFL is a privilege, not a right.

No, not everyone has the right to play in the NFL. You are incorrect.

Of Course he is getting nervous, the 49ers are 2 - 0 without him and he's just getting jealous that every player on that team is celebrating while he is holding out for money. Let's go back to this 2 - 0 thing, the 49ers have a pretty decent team and they have the right coach in Singletary. They chose the right QB and if everything else goes well they could get in the playoffs as division champions. Now if they can get Crabtree to play and he plays the way he did in Texas Tech well the 49ers look dangerous and the fans will forgive him for the holdout.

Let's all look at one important factor, Mike Singletary didn't want to take Crabtree, he wanted an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman, meaning Brian Orakpo or Michael Oher would have been the pick, since they were both available at that pick. It was the scouts and other coaches saying draft him and we just hit the jackpot, etc meaning they didn't think he would fall to them and they over took Singletary and basically forced singletary into getting him.

A right is defined as an entitlement of a legal or moral nature. Playing in the NFL is not an entitlement by any means, thereby making it a privilege.

He is an idiot, if he doesn't sign this 20 mil contract presented then the odds are he will be drafted in like the later rounds of the draft and make around 5 mil.

I know Eugene Parker has a bad rep when it comes to holdouts but I read on the 49ers message board a few weeks ago that it isnt Parker who is in Crabtree's ear feeding him that garbage. From what I understand, he actually wanted to end the holdout but Crabtree is getting advice from people close to him to keep it going.

I think -$1 million a week sounds fair. He missed training camp, practices, meetings and games! Fans pay to see production on the field and so do staff/owners. If he is not producing, he should be getting paid.

If I do not show up to work, I do not get paid. And I produce electricity!

i agree that the vets should get the big pay day because they are proven and the rookies should have to earn their pay. i think that its the most a** backwards thing because 9 times out of 10 the top paid player never amounts to anything.

Haha, I bet he's kicking himself in the butt because he thought the 49ers would suck this year, now they stand at a proud 2-0 and at the top of the division (I think)

SO I guess Crabtree got nervous when Singletary started to unbuckle his pants in front of him.

oh wow, no one wants to picture Singletary's little shriveled up belt buckle :o

I'm so tired hearing about this guy.

Correct me if i am wrong but isn't it the dream of every football player to one day make it to the NFL?

Here is a guy that has made it and he isn't happy. I say the hell with him.

If i was the 49er's GM and if Crabtree walked into my office tomorrow and said "i will take the deal"

I would say "We tried to call you but you changed your #. The deal is off the table." then i would call security and have him thrown out.

The NFL doesn't need any more little punks.

Other points that have been made is the NFL really does need to do something about rookie pay. It makes no sense why a rookie gets paid more then some that have been playing for years, and if that does happen all the rookies of the future can thank Crabtree for messing up a good thing.

sorry just needed to vent i have read many things on this guy and have come close to posting my feelings but haven't until now.

I don't eat at Subway much but I'm not sure Crabtree would convince me to eat there, but Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck do a good job of convincing me to eat there.

By the way to get back on topic, is there any word yet on his update, this is getting old and just ridiculious. Either sign him or trade him to get another 1st round pick which would give the 49ers 3 first round picks.
