Live Game Access Via Internet (Overseas)

6 posts in this topic

My daughter is living in Korea, and desperately wants to watch Ravens games live via the internet. She has an excellent high-speed connection. What are her options? Can she somehow use my Comcast account to view the games? Any help would be much appreciated. Last week, we used a webcam sitting on a chair pointed at the television, and connected to her via Google chat. Actually, she said it was pretty decent quality, but I'd like to try to do a little better!

I don't know of any 'legal' internet feeds and our posters are prohibited from using this forum to provide you with information on illegal ones.

The only legal solution I can think of using your Comcast account would be to purchase a Slingbox. The Slingbox simply takes your cable connection and uploads it to the internet for you to stream on any computer with an internet connection that has access to the Slingbox.

It's legal because:
1) It's using the cable and broadband internet services you're already paying for, and;
2) You can only stream on one computer or mobile device at a time (and you can use a password to limit access)

Pricing varies based on which box you buy, but it's relatively easy to install (provided that the Slingbox is used in the same room as your internet connection and router and the TV from which you want to stream), and you and your daughter would be able to watch TV simultaneously, as the stream is simply shared by its local source (your TV) and the remote source (your daughter's computer)

There are NO subscription fees and the only requirements on her end would be the software (free to install) and a computer with broadband internet connection. I would recommend shopping around (try Amazon.com) before purchasing.

Alternately, since your daughter is outside of North America, she may also purchase NFL Game Pass on NFL.com. The NFL offers this service ONLY to countries outside of North America due to television licensing issues, but it's the equivalent of paying for NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV except using a computer instead of a TV. With NFL Game Pass, your daughter will be able to stream NFL games live and in their entirety, and be able to watch replays instantly.

And finally, for a low-cost alternative but without the obvious benefit of visuals, your daughter can also try NFL Field Pass on NFL.com. NFL Field Pass is available all over the world and offers live radio broadcasts of every NFL game, including replays available immediately after each game. The only caveat, obviously, is that it's audio-only, but it's better than not being able to follow the game at all, and it's much cheaper than the other (legal) alternatives.

As a supplement or alternative to NFL Field Pass, there's also NFL Game Rewind, which has FULL, commercial-free replays of every NFL game the day after they air.

Yeah that's a great option as it streams in full HD, the only thing is it's a bit costly.
