This list is pretty ridiculous. But nevertheless something to talk about. Its created by 100 individuals which includes 27 Hall of Famers. It ranks best players for this year.

Some on the list that struck me odd:

Michael Vick, #88? And Romo didn't make the list.

Eli rated ahead of Philip Rivers?

Haynesworth the 6th best player in the NFL?

And, as PuRock said, LT as the 5th best player?

Agreed. Are we talking highest paid??? lol

There is at least an argument for Eli over Rivers (Playoff appearances will be about the same or favor Eli and he was the SB MVP).

Eli won a SB, Rivers hasn't been there - but, as you surely realize, a QBs talent isn't based on SB wins... otherwise, you could say Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino. (Not meaning to open a can of worms there... )

Anyway, career stats:

Eli: 56.0 completion %, 99 TDs / 75 INTs (+24), 76.3 rating, #14 with 86.4 rating in '08
Rivers: 62.4 completion %, 79 TDs / 37 INTs (+42), 92.7 rating, #1 with 105.5 rating in '08

Man do I hate stats.

Rivers (judging the stats) is the "sexy" QB. Eli is a great football player and despite the bad rap, probably the better leader.

Dilfer was not the game's MVP nor did he have to engineer any great drives. Eli was given the opportunity to stand up against the greatest pressure of that profession and he shined and shined brightly.

What's Rivers got? "62.4 completion %, 79 TDs / 37 INTs (+42), 92.7 rating, #1 with 105.5 rating in '08."

Eli is garbage. It shows with no Toomer, Shockey and Plaxico like he had in 2007 and prior to that.

Vick at 88 is just pure crazy. They tried to explain the reasoning behind it in the article but there was no point proven.

A lot of quarterbacks aren't on that list. Carson Palmer being one of them as well.

The article makes it sound like if you were to create a team for this season who would you take. I would have to think that the skilled positions would dominate the list.

And I'm with Warden on Eli (that didn't sound right on two levels), Even though Eli looks challenged at times he's proven to be a winner. It's tough call between Rivers and Eli. Rivers seems to melt down at times. Rivers does have the better stats, but Eli is the better leader. Rivers idea of leading is yelling at everybody. Which doesn't spell team unity.

Warden, your boy Lynn Swann was one of the voters.
