League Rankings In Total Offense And Defense

It's awesome to see we are 2nd in total offense and 3rd in total defense (despite allowing 24 points we only allowed 188 total yards, plus we know the circumstances for some of those points), even if it is only after one week and against the rebuilding Chiefs. If we even just somewhat keep this up all season, things are looking good for our team to go a long way.

Well i was Almost right. I predicted Ravens offense would be #1 but it turned out they were #2 With Offense #2 Defense #3 Sounds like a Super Bowl team to me. Steelers were no where to be found.

Oh I forgot,,,Steelers Ranked #20 in Total Defense. No team defense at #20 Ranked has went to the Superbowl.
[/quote]

ummmm first off when the colts won the superbowl their D was ranked 21

so i dont know if you just guessed but that isnt true

second its the first game and we held them to 0 points with troy, 10 without

third you guys played KC we played the titans

so even though you guys put up impressive numbers dont read to much into it just yet

its too early for the rankings to mean much

ben is ranked 2 in passing yards i dont expect that to last :(

To hype to early its only the Cheifs without there starting QB. Honestly i don't think in that particular game that we looked good at all.

But with the case of the Colts, their offense was leaps and bounds better than the Steelers offense.

don't mean to be a pessimist... but it was game 1... wait til about quarter season til you start reading into it....

don't expect the steelers current numbers to last long either, they will jet back up into at least top 10 D easily..... unless every team's D is leaps and bounds above what they were last year...

The colts were the exception that year, not the rule... I mean look at the cowboys.... not saying that it is impossible or even highly unlikely to win w/ an awesome Offense, just don't read too much into it

BTW, I love how everybody (as in talking heads) things that our D just fell off because the Chiefs scored 24 total points.... 14 of which can't be credited to our D..... the punt block.... and the Int that ended in phenomenal field position... in which case the score becomes 38-10....

Why bother trying to get it right when getting it wrong comes with a better story? I mean think about it, the Ravens defense is the same they dont miss this guy or that guy, is not nearly as big a story as the defense has fallen off without this guy or that guy.

But dont use Troy as an excuse for their offense racking up passing/rushing yards on you guys or scoring points. The Titans shredded your D with Troy in the game even though they didnt score. It was a matter of time before they would eventually score sum points concidering how the were moving the ball from Rushing and Passing. Troy made (2) excellent plays before he got injured. However, they were still moving the ball. What did your offense and Defense do before Troy left the game? Next to nuthin. But i do agree about the Rankings and how its too early to judge according to it. Im just sayin "dont use Troy as an excuse". Oh, Though we played KC and put up good numbers, I can recall putting up good numbers against better teams.

I think its funny how a lot of Steeler fans are saying the D gave up so many yards because Troy was out of the game. Sorry, you rely so heavily on one guy....maybe he should be the NFL MVP since he means so much to that "Tough, Steel Curtain" over in Pittsburgh...

I'm not saying that. But we DID play the Titans while you guys played the *snicker* Chiefs.

Jealousy is such an ugly thing.

Thats a bunch of Bull. The Titans did what they wanted to do (except score) before Troy got hurt. Troy didnt get hurt in their previous meeting last year and what did the Titans do? the same exact thing and much much more!!

We did what we were supposed to do against the Cheifs. im sure you guys would have. So, the fact that we played them is irrelevant. The arguement is- The Steeler Prophet said that yall were gettin dominated because Troy left the game. Thats not True!! It started before he left the game. But who cares? yall won! So, Excuses isnt neccessary.

Ok, generally you're pretty cool ( for a Steelers fan) though I think you've been pounding a bit much on your chest the last few weeks. You might want to tone that down, every team can have a bad year...The Steelers are not immune.

I pound my chest in response to chest pounding. Don't tell me how to post or respond.

I'm not a total homer like some on here are.

I don't agree with that Troy's absence had too much to do with what the Titans did/didn't do. "Steelers fans" in general won't believe that either (just because one does.....).

SteelerKiller - You're 100% correct.

Oh well, I can't complain. At least there is real football to talk about.

The Titans kicker may have had something to do with that as well.

Btw: let's remain civil, everyone.

Well, let's see here. The chest pounding happens here because its OUR HOUSE, dedicated to OUR TEAM. Do you go to someone's house and tell them they can't walk around with nothing but underwear on? Probably not. So, as YOU are the VISITOR and WE are HOME... which of us have more rights?
