T.g.i.f. - "thank God It's Flacco"

17 posts in this topic

The way our Quarterback is playing is a thing of dreams , I know it's only one game , but who would think that the ravens would have 500+ yards of offense in one game .
I gotta give some credit to the coaching staff too , for allowing a young guy to just "sling it" . But seriously Joe Flacco is the real deal , he's what we've been praying for , our offense has opened up so much with this guy back there . If we could have the production we had this weekend , I have no doubt in my mind that we will make it to the BIG GAME . what are your guy's thoughts ?

We will find out by the end of the season if this QB nightmare is truly over.

I'm excited about the possibilities more than I am where the team is at right now. Flacco is still learning but he occasionally misses on some potentially big plays. I love how he can complete comeback routes 15 yards down-field, across his body or thread the needle like he did to Heap against Dallas last year. However, some of his other passes have a tendency to sail. If the o-line can continue to give him time, Flacco will continue get better at reading defenses and going through his progressions.

My only knock on Flacco is that he needs a little more consistency with his accuracy on intermediate throws....he has a tendency to overthrow or throw behind his target sometimes. Once he gets that down, lights out.

Flacco is still a baby, too, that's the great part. He'll be getting better and better for a while, and he's already looking like a pro-bowl level player at his position.

Whoda thought Burt could sling the ball so well?

would you rather have jake delhomme , why you guys can't see the BIG picture here , that Flacco is the best thing that happened for our offense , as long as we have a field general out there , then we have a leader on both sides of the ball , and that's a MAJOR threat

Flacco IS the best thing that has happened to the O and I'm extremely happy he's a Raven. I've said before that ha has flashed All-Pro potential many times already. What he did against the Chiefs on Sunday was great but it wasn't flawless and it wasn't against a particularly good team. They seemed to be well-coached but how much talent do they really have defensively? Their top corner wasn't even playing.

Sunday against the Chargers will be a good test though.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic about our offense. It looks to me like a fairly mild adjustment. If you watch the throws that were behind his targets, they were almost always in the same spot; just high and a little behind the receiver's head. Little tweak, and he is on. How many yards would we had if those connected? Whew

err... I don't think anyone has disagreed with that sentiment. Even the Troy Smith Lovers, in their silence, agree with this.

Yep, and truth be told, some of those should still be caught. This is the NFL, if the ball hits you in the shoulders or the side of your helmet (like on Sunday, I think he did exactly this on a pass to McGahee), then you're supposed to make the catch.....what really kills me though are the ones that sail over a wide open Todd Heap's head (how you overthrow a guy that's 6'5" is beyond me, lol...)

Joe will connect on more of those throws. Everyone has to remember that the Ravens offense is relatively young. They are still learning each other as well as what works in Cam's system.

Many people had a problem with the number of times Cam choose to let Joe throw, bit I think it was genius. It usually takes a passing game 2-3 games to really start clicking. Flacco averaged about 25 pass attempt per game last year. So dropping back 40+ times gave the offense almost 2 games worth of reps.

The reason why I think that was so great is because we have a tough early schedule. With teams like SD, NE, and Min in the first 6 weeks, the Ravens couldn't afford to start slow.

We saw Flacco get better week by week last year. So I fully expect is passing to be even better this game.

Flacco is the QB that we have been waiting for and just by having him will make the offense better.

Ozzie has been so great at drafting defensive Pro Bowl guys. With Flacco and this young good Oline, don't be so surprised to see that type of success on the offensive side.
We are seeing the foundation of a quality offense being built. From this season on, the Ravens will just add good players year after year through the draft.
