Suggs Is The Man!

27 posts in this topic

I was looking at these pics on facebook. I like the one with the defense where Suggs and Walker are being goofy and KG is laying on the ground.

Thats actually where I got that one from. I also like when they were dressed up in robes and had shirts on from their colleges and sat in the desks.

What we need from Suggs is more Sizzle and less of a goof....In yesterdays game, he tried to strip the ball and wound up missing the tackle. No sacks. Well you guys keep thinking he's the man....when he really decides to earn his money...I will think he's the man, too.

Suggs doesn't need to get sacks to have played well. It didn't show up on the stat sheet, but there were many times he got in the backfield yesterday, and that was evident even from my seat at the stadium without needing the big screens to tell. He had a phenomenal tackle for a loss that set the Chiefs up for a long third-down before the end of the first half, and he also made another stop on 3rd down right before halftime. Additionally, I'm pretty sure he defended a pass that would've gone for a first down had he not been there, and he was a constant threat to Brodie Croyle.

There's still 15 games left for Suggs to get his sacks. Judging the man on his stats from ONE game is a bit premature, especially when he contributed more than his stat line indicated.

And besides, Sizzle is a self-professed goof -- there's no difference between the two. If he needs to keep his sense of humor to play, then so be it. He's not hurting anyone (other than the other team, anyway) so it's all good.

You clearly dont watch the Ravens play, I mean actually WATCH the games. Terrell Suggs is one of the most dominant OLB in the game, he stops the run and rushes the passer, he has more than one responsibility unlike Ware and Merriman (who im sure your comparing him to). You dont think hes worth the money, then you dont know what makes the Ravens defense tick. If hes gone who the hell is rushing the passer? Kruger cant play OLB, doesnt know how to play the position yet, Johnson? Man your gonna be hard pressed to see him get 2 sacks in a game again, he almost had half his career high in a season in one game. Barnes? cant stop the run, cant hold the edge, hes a pure pass rusher thats why he hasnt taken Johnsons job already. We paid Suggs cuz he does it all and he does it all better than anyone else. In case you want one example from the Chiefs game, it was Suggs' pressure that forced Croyle to step up into Pryce's arm span that caused the sack/strip that sealed the game for the Ravens.

In case you take this the wrong way, sorry but ive been hearing it for 5 months that Suggs is useless and not worth the money, and it "grinds my gears".

To be fair, Jarret Johnson got 2 sacks yesterday because Terrell Suggs essentially reversed roles with JJ, where JJ normally does the dirty work and takes on double-teams, Suggs was instead. JJ gets no credit for all of the hard work he does because he's to Suggs what Bart Scott was to Ray Lewis, where he would take on additional blockers to allow Suggs (or any other blitzer) free.

Keep in mind the D was on the field for ? What 20 mineuts or ther about? Of course you arent going to hear a lot about Suggs, he spent more than half the game watching Flacco.

He was watching Flacco intently, too. He had this look on his face along with Ray Lewis on the sideline like, "Man, look at this kid!" every time he made a play. They looked genuinely impressed; I even managed to get a pic of their faces right when they looked back at the bench, but it came out really blurry so it's gone. :(

Point exactly! That **** should've kept his promise with the whole "Suggs Package." What the hell are we paying him for?

He looked like the man to me when he deflected a pass to a guy that he wasn't even assigned to cover.

How can you bash him for trying to make a play?? I dont hear people bashing Ed Reed when he blows coverage trying to make plays. Granted that doesn't happen often, but neither does it happen much with Suggs. So why are you singling him out?

I saw the topic of this post "Suggs is the Man" and all I could think was "duh."

Then I saw the pictures and it turns out he's even more the man that I thought.

Im pretty sure thats a perspective thing. Flacco is way in the back and Harper is in the forefront of the picture. If you draw a line acros their heads then Troy Smith looks the same height as Flacco. The ground also may not be even ;)
I think Harper is 6'3"

Nice height on that leap!

Seems like he is going to be the guy the team loves to have around. A leader on the field and a guy that cracks you up in the locker room.

Yeah, Flacco is sneaking toward 6'7" actually. He just might be ducking down in laughter - that grin on his face makes me think he saw Suggs a split-second before everyone else and started laughing...

I'm sick of hearing it too.
Back in his early days we used him nearly exclusively as a pass rusher and he produced a lot of sacks, but people whined that he wasn't good in coverage or against the run.
Now he's possibly the most complete LB in the game, and we use him as such, and people whine that his sack totals go down even though his primary job is no longer necessarily rushing the passer.

If anyone thinks Suggs is overpaid/overrated, they need their Ravens Fan card revoked, because it's obvious they don't follow our team closely enough.

Everybody loves a goof! Especially when you know how serious he can get during game time. Fun pic.

If you are a fan of Baltimore Ravens on facebook you can see all the pictures from that days shoot. Including a very cool one with all the defensive guys.

Also in one of the offensive pictures, Joe is standing in the back hiding behind his line lol
