We did dominate the game and looked really good on both sides of the ball. However, you can still lose when you dominate by making timely mistakes or just from the bounce of a ball etc... Example is our games with the Titans last year. The first game during the regular season we dominated and lost, in the second game in the postseason i think they outgained us by a lot and the stats favored them but we won.

Bottomline, there is more to football than just the stats of total yards, first downs etc... But I see what you, others and even myself have said about the stats as they do show we dominated and played well on both offense and defense.

All i am saying is that we should take the stats with a grain of salt as great stats dont always mean wins. What i really took away from the game yesterday is that in the clutch we can step up and make plays to win games. Offense did that all day and the Defense held them on when they were only down by 7 and could have potentially timed the game.

We have to be more productive. At one point we had like 5 times as many 1st downs yet we were trailing the Chiefs. In the end everything worked out but a team like Pittsburgh would've made us pay that day. The defense needs to step up. We couldn't get to their QB at all. The DB's need to step up as well.

Which makes it even worse that the Chiefs were in the game until the end. They hung around because we let them. We've got to fix the mistakes. We had way to many penalties. And our special teams is terrible. They did better in kick return coverage but we are still not getting any good returns and Steven Hauschka just isnt going to cut it as our kicker for the entire season.

We didnt force KC into any turnovers- mainly because they were not on the field long enough but they got two( I am counting that blocked punt) out of us. We've got to fix that.

Yea, the special teams have been anything but "special". I don't think we should give up on Hauschka just yet. It's only been one game, and it was a 44 yarder he missed (if I remember correctly), so it wasn't a chip shot.

So many mental errors. Why did we throw the ball so much? We put too much pressure on Flacco to win the game and you could tell he was a little rattled at the end of the game. Controlling the clock and managing the game is how the Ravens win. Especially with 3 very good running backs and a very good offensive line, why wouldn't you use that more. Flacco shouldn't throw 25 times by halftime.

The Ravens played well but 8 penalties is going to kill us in close games. We played solid defense but we need to eliminate the mental errors. Except why didn't we get more sacks? We need to get more pressure on the qb and put him on the ground.

Check the ravens out being 4 for 4 in the red zone.

Overall, I'm impressed with the offense especially the receivers how they produced. The chiefs were close because of mental errors and a few lucky breaks. That's good though. I don't want the Ravens to peak in September.

Gotta get better on special teams, can't have blocked punts, missed FGs, and penalties on kickoff returns if we want to win a lot of games. That's probably the worst of the three phases for us right now, the special teams :P

I agree, the stats are only part of the equation. I have to admit though, when they tied it up so late in the game, for the first time in a long time, I was not worried a bit. Our offense moved at will, and that was awesome.

Our pass rush was doing just fine but give full credit to Croyle for getting the ball out quick, he didn't hold on to the ball, he was taking 3 steps and getting the ball out fast,if he was taking 5 steps and trying to go deep all day then it would have been ugly but they just made the adjustments that they needed to make.

We dominated every aspect besides specail teams. EVERY team in the NFL needs to get better. We are no different. They way I look at it, that game could not have gone any worse for us (as far as the point KC put up). Our ST have no choice but to get better and I expect that they will.

Biggest stat that you didn't list is Turnovers.

KC:2 BAL:0

And that was the difference between a close game (which it was) and us blowing them out (which it should have been)

Why are fans so hard to please? All offseason everyone was talking about our passing game; how we needed a deep threat, we needed to bring in a big-time receiver or our passing game was gonna flop. We came out and made a statement with our passing game and now everyone is like "We shoulda run the ball more!!" That's just insane. I appreciate what we did. We put the league on notice that we have a viable passing game in Baltimore and you have to respect it or suffer the consequences. Don't you think the teams we face now have to do a lot more now to prepare for us? Stop crying about the small stuff. We dominated that game in every phase besides special teams. Receivers are bound to make plays. you can't expect Fabe and Fox to cover a guy like Bowe all game and he not make some plays. Just like Andre Johnson last year. Everyone is saying that we should have blown out KC. Why? Anything can happen on any given Sunday. They showed up to play. They have a good head coach that is instilling a new philosophy just like Harbs did for us last year. He warned us not to take this team for granted. I for one, wasn't shocked that showed up to play. All players have pride to play for. Look at how Oakland and Buffalo played against teams that should have blown them out.

Overall they performed very well. A few mistakes made the game closer than what we were all expecting. But that's just football. It's going to happen. Not even the Patriots are perfect as evidenced by last night's performance.
