The Ravens D is gonna stop LT and the Chargers O easily, I predict a great game for BALT!!! SD always seems like a tough team but they never live up to their "high glory". Baltimore wins 28-7!!!

If we are 5 point dogs to this SD team, I bet the Raiders were 10 point dogs...and are actually winning. We should easily beat the bolts as long as they dont block any punts :)

We'll whoop up on SD once again. Tomlinson in his prime had nothing for us, and their defense is extremely over-rated (and inconsistent).

27 -17, Ravens.

You heard it here first ;)

Just checked the spread and its got an "*" next to it......

"* = Last available point spread. Currently off due to Monday night play or an injury."

SD lost its center, carted off. It'll change methinks.

Say what you want but it was only the first game and both San Diego and the New England were not very impressive in their wins but again neither was the Ravens.
The Chargers should be favorite to win by at least 3 pts because of the Ravens going to the west coast.

All of the elite teams seemed to struggle a little to alot in week 1. I'm not going to sit here and think that a game against San Diego or New England will be an easy match based off of what we saw in their first games.

This is a very crucial game for us to win. We know we can beat the mediocre teams. This is one of the games that starts to separate you from the rest of the pack.

It looks like San Diego will continue with their history of bad starts. They had to eke out a win against a team they normally beat. The Chargers looked poor and often times frustrated. The only reason why they won that game is due to Sproles. Everytime the Raiders got some big points, Sproles slobbed them.

I feared the Chargers a bit at the start of Monday, but after watching that game, I realize the media help balloon my perspective. They are easily a beatable team.

It looks like their center and another OL-man might be out for our game. So we should be able to get the much needed pressue. We just need to focus on special teams.

I was hoping all game long that San Diego would continue to look bad, but somehow pull off the victory in the end.

Going into San Diego with the Chargers in a semi-must-win situation in their home opener would have been much less appealing than facing a team whose worst case scenario will now be 1-1 after two weeks.

Apart from their final drive, the Chargers really didn't look good, and with two offensive linemen hurt, our defensive line is going to abuse Phillip Rivers.

Sproles will eat us alive as our defense simply does not play well against quick players, Chris Johnson being the prime example, but apart from Sproles, I was most certainly not impressed.

The Chargers weren't tied with Oakland yet significantly outplaying the Raiders; San Diego was on par with Oakland for, essentially, the entire game, unlike our match with Kansas City.

San Diego playing poorly really shouldn't be too much of a surprise, though, as they were 8-8 last year in a pathetic division.

I realize that the Chargers heated up to end the year, but San Diego basically beat up on some divisional opponents in the second half of the season, won one game in the playoffs, and then got slapped around by Pittsburgh.

I'm as much of a realistic as the next guy but....

Chiefs = Oakland (The main difference being we played at home)

Offense
Ravens - 501 total yards (2nd in league)
San Diego - 317 total yards (14th in league)

Defense
Ravens - 188 yards allowed (3rd in league)
San Diego - 366 yards allowed (25th in league)

Game Changers
We had two crucial mistakes (Blocked punt & 70 yd INT)
San Diego had two big plays by Sproles which helped their stats and get them a win.

They allowed Oakland 366 total yards. That's not very impressive. Most of which came on the ground. Plus it wasn't like Russell was lighting things up there. He left a lot of balls hanging for the pickings.

Good point, Chargers were playing in Oakland for the Raiders home opener. The Raiders came to play, they were fired up.

So that above statement is a wash or you could say Oakland would give the Chargers fits..

500 yards on offense, ranking 2nd in total offense and third in total defense isn't impressive??

If anything, WE should be three point favorites given our recent success against SD and the fact that we have played much better than them after week 1.

One game doesn't make the offense great..remember it was Kansas City!

Do this against Minnesota, Green Bay and Pittsburgh and we can talk.

Saying that the Ravens' offense is not great yet is a perfectly fair point, but as fans, we're taking issue with the fact that you're saying that our offense was not really impressive.

How many yards would it have taken to impress you?

I'm not saying we suddenly have a great offense (although I do personally believe we have a shot at cracking the top 7 this year) based on one game.
I'm just going on the same basis you were...judging how impressive or unimpressive we have been so far. We certainly have played better than those two teams we were discussing. Statistically, you can make a very strong argument that we had the most impressive start to the season of any team in the league.

That Chargers rush D looked absolutely soft didnt it? If they show up like that again Sunday night Cam better just "let the big dog eat" (tin cup anyone?) and let Mcgahee, Rice, and Mcclain do their thing until they can stop it or stack 8 in the box and let Flacco do some play action.

So, what are all your thoughts for our game Sunday In San Diego at 4:15?

I think, if our offense can keep the intensity like they did today, we can really take a load off the defense. Its great being able to score now, and the Defense doesn't have to for us.Do You guys realize how much better our Defense must feel now? They do there job and sit and rest, then watch Flacco take control.

Now for the Defense, we need to get more of a pass rush on Philip Rivers. He is a hell of a QB. He has a quick release and has good pocket presence. If we can get in his face, and make him force a few, it will be easier for our DB's which need to have a good game like they did today. Fabian needs to learn to smack the ball down on that long pass today, but other than that, secondary looked solid. I am confident our run D can hold LT. Hes really good at finding the gap, and once he does hes gone. Run D looked outstanding today, 28 yards they gave up? If they run, I can imagine it being up the gut. Our D is too fast for outside sweeps. I anticipate quick bubble screens. Suggs needs to play at home and stop getting sucked in all the time, but he has gotten better at that.

If we apply the pressure, move the ball and take advantage of a turnover or 2, This game can very well be a W for us. Thoughts?
I think it could go either way because the way they played against Raiders they can easily lose the game...The way we played against Chiefs wasn't exactly a flawless victory we were tied in through the second half. In order for us to win the game...Our defense would need to step up because the secondary did let in on the Chief's.

As leaky as the Chargers run defense looked last night, I think Flacco & Co. will have to air it out to win this game. The Chargers' corners are good players but like we saw last night(and all last season) they struggle in man-to-man. The same goes for their LBs. Cam should use the Rice just like the Chargers did with Sproles last night.

Defensively, Foxoworth and Washington will get worked all game long by Vincent Jackson if they aren't ready to play. I don't know how good McClain or Gooden are in pass coverage but someone has to man up on Gates. Sproles will be trouble because of his shiftiness and speed so all the D can do is try to limit the 10+ yard gains. L.T. honestly doesn't scare me.

This is kind of off-topic but do you know what's sad. The San Diego Fan Base.

I mean Oakland is in the Bay area with San Diego. If San Diego had a lot of true die-hard fans (which they don't), they could have easily made that Oakland game into a semi-home game atmosphere.

When the Ravens play Redskins at Fedex field we pack that place. Ofcourse Oakland fans are better fans than Redskins fans.
kind of an odd first post... been reading the boards for about a year

san diego is not close to oakland at all, about 500 miles.

on topic..

Lt is done. sproles is good, but won't go anywhere against us. i think san diego was the most overrated team heading into the regular season.

We're going to whoop those Chargers. Look, I love Sproles as I got to watch him and Ell Roberson at KSU destroy Big 12 teams, included Oklahoma with a Heisman quarterback in the Big 12 Championship...he's for real. Nasty little back with underrated toughness and durability.

However, with LT injured and that Charger's offensive line banged up, the Ravens are going to have their way with them. Unless there's a massive melt down on offense or defense, it's in the books (in my mind).

Any given Sunday, yada yada yada....

With the mandatory drivel now out of the way, truth is I think we cruise through most of this game, have a few rough spots along the way, but in the end we will be 2-0 to start the year. So I agree this one is in the books if we do what we're supposed to do.

I'm just saying that's how it should be; that's not how Vegas really works though. They see two talented teams facing off, and SD gets 3 pts for being the home team. In their line of thinking, calling us 3 pt underdogs is fair enough.
