Quarterback!

Who else thinks that the idea of having Troy Smith UNDER Kyle Boller is totally inane? If anything, maybe START Troy over Steve to see how he can do....keep in mind, Troy Smith is a HEISMAN WINNER FROM OHIO STATE. This has been overlooked for way to long! Anybody with me on this one?

No.

Boller knows the offense better and at this stage is simply a better NFL quarterback than Smith. Troy needs A LOT of grooming and frankly didn't look good in pre-season. That's not to say he can't develop into a viable starting QB, but he's a long way off right now and considering the Ravens still have a CHANCE of salvaging this season, playing Smith would be irresponsible.

You're aware a Heisman Trophy doesn't guarantee success in the pros, right?

your right as much as i would love for troy to start and be our savior reallity is hes young in experienced and needs at least a year to learn every thing 1 thing i do want to say is he deserves some snaps in practice with the offense tho that way he learns faster you cant build chemistry with your guys if u dont make moves for it he cant make that crisp post route pass if he hasnt practiced wit with mason or clayton

there has been quite a few Hiesman Trophy winners in the Past that had stellar College careers but then they got drafted to the Pro'sand it was like they hit a brick wall, going 200 mph.....meaning that they werent the same Athlete as they were before.

Thats why Having Troy has the #3 QB on the roster makes perfect sense to me, He needs time to Develope and sharpen his skills, in the pre-season all we saw of him were "flashes" of what type of player he COULD be with the proper nurturing and what not. having him sit this year, learn, home his skills, learn from the other QuarterBacks on the roster, learn from Neuheisal and the QB coach. and go from there. the Guy is a phenominal player, but needs some time for him to "perfect" his abilities a bit more. he does have a things that the Ravens Saw in him that Can not be teached (humility, Composure in the pocket when the pocket is collapsing, and a great deal of poise)..he just needs to continue to work on those other skills more and more as the year goes along and he will eventually take over for us and be one heck of a Quarterback for us.

Maybe we'll send him to you, like Anderson, and he'll end up having a great career.

lol yeah

Maybe we can give them kyle boller and he'll be the new steve young or something...lol

I wouldn't call Anderson's play a great career so far. While I hope he keeps it up of course there's still half of a season left. =]

Although I'll admit it'd be funny for once if we acquired a player that turned out to be incredible as opposed to the other way around like we normally do.

LET GO WITH TROY SMITH

say lets give him a try...take a look at his football stats from High School through College. In his Junior year of high school he was choosen to participate in the Elite 11 Competition, which is consists of the TOP 11 rank high school QB's in the US. 2006 Heisman Trophy winner...... Obviously with all his recognition should at least show there's consistency and opportunity for growth...But you have to let him play....

2006 Heisman Trophy

2006 NCAA First Team All American

2006 Sporting News College Football Player of the Year

2006 Fiesta Bowl MVP

2006 Walter Camp Award

2006 Davey O'Brien Award

2006 Buckeyes MVP

2006 Associated Press Player of the Year

2006 Chicago Tribune Silver Football

if its a close game in the 4th, keep the starter in, if theyre gettin blownout, let him finish out the game, if were up big, let him finish out the game, as simple as that. i personally think he can do anything he puts his mind to, the national championship game was just a bum rap, the osu line looked confused even stunned most of the time by a florida d line as freight trains running through the osu o line like styraphome...teddy ginn was out...but defiently dont put a whole nfl game in his hands, only if the game is far from reach either losing or winning, then give him some snaps...thats it.

I think kyle would have been a better quarter back if he wasnt thrown into things so fast with no recivers . we do have recivers now but i think he would be better if he comes in a lil slower then kyle did . and whats up with kyle he filled in here and there and looked good and at buffulo he got all jumpy again

a player with Troy's calibur of play with pay great dividends for us in the end.....not right now because hes young, needs time to develop and hone is skills. He needs to perfect and fine tune the skills he has. once he does that, he'll be a phenomial player for us. Troy smith at this point next year will have more knowledge about the game and howthe Ravens Play and our offense than where he's at, at this point in the season thus far, and so on and so forth...

lol...the world may never know.....personally i believe Troy is phenominal and with Time practice and with the other Quaterbacks on this team teaching ghim, he will be the "Center" of the offense for us.

I don't doubt that Troy may very well be the future of this team. I just don't like the fact that he has to pretend to be some Austrian dude trying to get more public support to get him to start.

lol i mean some of them could have very simple names on here or they could just go by their regualr name (Troy Smith could go by "troy Smith" and likewise for the other players)

Considering how quickly some of our posters are to declare that some player, coach, etc. "sucks", I doubt that it would be wise for any Ravens personnel to reveal themselves here.

No matter what happens with the QB situation...All i know is we need a new one that atleast looks like he cares about the game.
