Yeah, The Ravens had an amazing opening game. #3 defense, #2 offense. Obviously that's gonna change throughout the year but a fantastic start. People are getting uppity because the score was close, but those people don't seem to understand this game was two NFL teams going against each other. Just because we stack up a lot better doesn't mean it's going to be a guaranteed blowout.

Just read that and think about it.

Second place in the NFL for total offence yards.
The Baltimore Ravens.

That is pretty unfamiliar territory.

Were right behind the saints...WOW!!!!

and were the only team in all 3 of those categories (like in the top 5) for offence. WOW...top 5 rushing, passing and overall O...pretty nice.

I'd just like it to be #1 D, #2 O, but I'll take it!

Not to piss on anyone's hushpuppies, but looks like our weakest department according to those stats is our secondary. Weren't we supposed to fix that?

We know how to beat Pittsburgh. We just need to learn how to be disciplined enuff to execute on Defense and close the game. Really, We need to learn how to beat the Colts. We've already beaten the Steelers in previous seasons. I think we swept them in '06'. Im not totally sure though. Someone Correct me if im wrong! We just let both Regular season games slip away in "08". I cant even remember us ever beating the Colts.

We would be in top 5 if we hadn't played so far off at the end of the second quarter. We wanted to prevent a hail merry so when they did a short pass they easily gained 15-20 yards on that play. Take that off...and were #5 in pass D.

So i'm not too concerned. We shut down Bowe who was supposed to be some big shnazzy WR.

Well, to be honest, we did help it some over the offseason. While not a huge upgrade overall, we did improve by dropping Chris McAlister, who is/was far too injury prone and probably couldn't even pass a physical. Even when healthy he was still not the shutdown corner he once was. He then decided to sign Foxworth, who is an obvious upgrade over having Fabian Washington and Rolle/Walker as our starting CB tandem. It hurts that Rolle is out as he makes an ideal nickelback, similar to the role Deion Sanders played in his short stay with us.

Landry is back after missing all of last season, and of course we still have Ed Reed, granted he is another year old. The loss of Jim Leonhard is not as big of a loss as people make it out to be in terms of our secondary.

On paper I'd say we are stronger.

The secondary really wasn't that bad during the game, the Chiefs really only amassed two real drives the whole game. However, there is always room for improvement. Right now I still like what I see.

That is my take on the secondary.

I felt this way before the season started. I knew this would be a problem. It didnt prevent us from winning. But, this issue needs to be addressed sooooooon and very soon. We all know what QB's like Ben, Tom and Peyton will do to our 2ndary if its not fixed

I dont think they were that bad either. But, the 2ndary not playing too bad will look Horrible against Ben, Tom and Peyton. If we can tweek it up just a little, I would have less of a concern.

I do agree that it will need improvement. When Samari Rolle returns that will be a big boost. I have have enough faith in Harbaugh, Mattison, and Ray to make sure they improve internally.

Crazy to think I can count on a coach now...I couldn't count on Billick for anything except horridly conservative play-calling...

We dominated this game as we should have but I'm going to wait a few more weeks before I start drinking my Purple Lemonade . In the mean time I'll take my Purple Lemonade out of the frige and starring it up daily, I have to make sure the sugar does not settle at the bottom.
