Big Ben Update

33 posts in this topic

PITTSBURGH -- One day after a crushing defeat of AFC North rival Baltimore, coach Mike Tomlin held his weekly news conference Tuesday and gave updates on the Steelers' injury situation.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a bruised hip in the Baltimore game and may be limited in practice Wednesday, but Tomlin said he "fully expects" Roethlisberger to play against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Roethlisberger -- who threw a record-tying five touchdowns -- left the game after Baltimore's Terrell Suggs knocked him to the ground in the third quarter. He briefly returned in the fourth quarter, then sat out the rest of the Steelers' 38-7 victory.

But got hurt getting pushed. That is pretty wussy.

Ben got hurt playing football...er whooping up on the Ravens. I saw a lot more Ravens getting jacked up (especially defensive players) than Steelers.

Series History: Series began in 1996

Overall: Pittsburgh leads 14-9

At Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh leads 8-4

At Baltimore: Pittsburgh leads 6-5

Here endeth a lesson.

Okay, I promise not to make fun of you for mis-spelling the name of YOUR OWN TEAM.

That aside, you made reference to being way up on the Steelers, no?

I concede, you guys whooped us but good last year. Overall however, we own you guys. The latest bragging rights are obvious of course.

BTW- Don't STEEL my lines (here endeth the lesson). That's just lame. :D

well we are after all a young franchise.....you guys have been around the league for 75 years or so....and 4 super bowls...we've been in existance for 11 years and a super bowl victory. we may not have the so-call "glory" that you guys have developed, but thats because we havent been in the League for all that long.....75 years and 4 superbowls...compared to 11 years and 1 Superbowl........there isnt really any constest there.....clearly you guys have had more glroy than us but lemme just say this..........you guys......75 years and 4 superbowls.....The Ravens, 11 years in existance and already have a superbowl Victory (which was a blowout win 35-7 over the Giants)....and to add to it, our very first 2 picks as a franchise (1. Ogden, and 2. Ray Lewis) are both Future Hall of Famers.....i think it says alot about a franchise, considering our first 2 players EVER drafted are deemed to be un-disputed, Hall of Famers.

75 years and FIVE Super Bowls and NO ONE has more. You guys are the former Browns. The franchise of (at least) 75 years was moved., not created from scratch. Granted you had to leave your stats and records behind, but it was still an established team owned/run by the same man (A. Modell) which had 0 titles in that time until 2000.

The brand new team is the Cleveland Browns. Built from the ground up. They kept the history of the franchise that was once there.

The Baltimore Ravens are new by name only and that they had to "hit the reset button" on their stats.

I'm not sure of the answer but if I had to bet on which team has the most players in the HOF, I wouldn't be too far off when I chose the Pittsburgh Steelers.

we also had to draft new players onto the team to help try and "rebuild" the team......just so happens that our GM (Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome) with his first 2 picks of the '96 draft, chose 2 players in Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis that will go on to Lead VERY successful careers, a Superbowl victory, a Combined 19 pro bowls, and Superbowl MVP, Defensive player of the year (ray lewis) and so on.........

im sorry but there was a bit more changed than Just the "Name" of the franchise........

1. New Coaches

2. New Staff

3. New Play Book

4. New Players

5. New Facility

6. New Program

basically we had to start from scratch with what we would be doing as far as "Playing" and our game plan and what not too

You guys were an established team who got a tremendous amount of help from the league with regards to retaining the contracts of former Browns players and personnel as per the agreement made by the city of Cleveland and the NFL.... Yet legally the Ravens were still an expansion team (how I'll never know) and therefore got good picks in the draft AND an expansion draft as well. Oh yeah, all this because Art wanted a new Stadium. I have to admit, all-in-all it was a sweet deal for Baltimore (not so much for Cleveland). You're right, it wasn't so much a change as it was a gift.

Ravens never got the Expansion draft, salary cap exemptions and had to pay for players that never step foot foot in this city, and players and coaches that refused to play in this city, so i'm not sure what you would call what Baltimore besides a team. the Ravens are not the Browns nor do they want to be the Browns.

Much of this is debatable.

Where did the two 1st round draft picks come from [Jon Ogden (1-4) and Ray Lewis (1-26)]?

Think about the Texans expansion draft, they got to chose who they wanted off other teams and teams could only protect 10 players, the salary cap was not forgiven just like for the Texans. So no its not the same . Texans got a much sweeter deal AS AN EXPANSION TEAM.

I agree with you there. That was a true expansion team. Like the Panthers and Jags back in 1995. I hate what they do with expansion teams. They should have to pay their dues first.

are the ravens even in contention for a playoff spot? quit the steeler bashing. the steelers are focused on the browns and the ravens are still focused on teh steelers. its no wonder they do poorly against the bills, browns, and all the mediocre teams in the league.

you guys barely got 100 offensive yards and still talk crap. in case you didn't notice the plan was to pass the ball against an old, beat up,decrepit, defense that couldn't even stop a nose bleed. the numbers you should be talking about are the numbers by big ben, and the defense. you only got 7 points by luck but we got 38 points because we are better than the ravens in every way. really, i thought I was watching the dolphins.
