Will Flacco Throw For 3,000 Yards This Year?

43 posts in this topic

With a healthy recieving group flacco should have a good year.

With a healthy receiving corp the ravens passing game wiil be dominate in 2009. Starting with the kansas city cheifs and their WEAK!!! pass d. Getting a healthy demetrius williams who caught a 70 yard pass from flacco in 08. the ravens have a deep threat wide receiver in williams because he has good speed and gud height and he gave the NFL a sample of that in the preseason. the ravens also signed kelly washinton in free agency who had a great peseason. and derrick mason came back out of retirement.

let me know what u think!!!!!

YES! Did you see the rythm of Mark Clayton and Joe Flacco at the end of last year? I was watching highlights at the end of the year and all they showed was deep ball, after deep ball that they were connecting on. I didn't realize it till this afternoon, but now I really think Clayton can be our deep threat and will break out.

I always rolled my eyes when people said that, but if you don't believe me go watch highlights from last year. Towards the end of the year, Mason and Clayton were catching so many beautiful deep balls thrown by Joe Flacco.

This team is going to be insane if the WRs play as good as we think they can (healthy). Rice will destroy them if they dont stack the box on him.

No, but not because he can't, he just won't get the chance to. I see a lot of 2nd halfs pounding out the clock at the hands of running backs.

A good Chance he will Throw 2500 Yards Rice might be the guy to break Jamal Lewis record.

Man, there are some crazy things said on this forum sometimes!

1 - If Flacco throws for anything less than 3k yards than we have a problem as that would be a HUGE step backwards.

2 - Rice will not get anywhere near Jamals 2066 yards (or whatever it was). Back then it was him and only him running the ball. Now its Rice, McGahee and Mclain sharing that responsibility.

i tend to agree with the 2500 prediction...we run the ball too much
We ran the ball like crazy last year and in his rookie year Flacco threw for just shy of 3k.

2500 would be horrible and our offense would have been crap if this is what happens.

We did that last year. And he was only 29 yards short of 3000.

If Flacco doesn't throw for 3,000 yards, then he will almost certainly have regressed.
Agreed. Nothing less than 3000 yards. Which I believe can be easily accomplished. I look for Cam to throw the ball more, if that arsenal is ready.

3k yards?? He might have that a week or two after Thanksgiving. If we had better WR and threw the ball more he could easily flirt with 4k.
But, we don't have better WR and we'll still be running the ball a ton, so I think I'm sticking to the prediction I made a couple months ago.....

3,400 yards and 20-22 passing TDs.

This, or something thereabouts. I think the new toy Cam has, a passing offense, will be too much temptation for him to avoid.

3,800 yards, 20-25 TD's.

There should definitely be the opportunities to throw for 3,000 yards - you'd imagine teams would prefer us to pass rather than bully them with the run. So I'd say yes; due to our strong running game keeping the defense loading up the box.

I believe that this year Flacco will find his name in the Pro Bowl this year...His throwing Arm looked good he completed something ridiculous like 23-28 so he missed 5 passes for 2/3 Quarters of Play thats pretty darn good...

3000 yards is only 188 yards a game. I think he should do that no problem. I got to expect him to have more yards than last year and he came just short of that last year (less than 30 yards short i think). He could of had 3000 if we hadnt called the dogs off in the jags game. I think we will run the ball like usual but we are definitely going to become a little more balanced. Even from the beginning of the year to the end of the year last year we got more balanced. I think 3400 yards or so is about right.

I want to say yes, believe me I do. But we run the ball so well, why throw when you can run?
Because we can do both. The run sets up the pass. The pass sets up the run. Why use airplanes if you have a huge tank army, right? Ask Saddam how that worked out in 1991. It doesn't seem relevant to some, but if you are one dimensional, no matter how strong that one dimension is, you'll eventually get bottled up in a corner and stomped by an opponent's strategy.

Edit: And I was trying to be conservative with my 3,800 yard estimate. I think he could break 4,000.

Here are Joe's stats for last season:

257/428 Completed passes
Avg. 60%
2,971 Passing yards
6.9 Avg. yards
14 TDs
12 INTs

Remember, most of these INTs came in the first half of the season.

With more passing this season, 3,000 yards should be easily reached. I predict around 3,500.

short answer: EASILY
Yup. Cam loosening the reins and Joe passing to Ray out of the backfield will add up to a ton of yardage through the air. Heap will certainly catch more balls also. Providing he stays healthy I say in the neighborhood of 3,500 if not more.

Can't wait to watch him slice and dice today!!!

WE ran the ball the most last year and still Joe had nearly 3,000 yards. How can you think he will throw for 500 yards less? Thats ludicrous.

I do not know about that to early to tell but if today is any indication it is possible. Wow... please return your tray tables to an upright position and fasten your seatbelt, and thank you for flying air Flacco.

I think if we play like we did against KC possibly...other than the fact that we will have much harder defenses to play against lol but I mean it was only week one
