Our Stadium Chants

32 posts in this topic

This has been a nostalgic issue to me, and I want your guys' opinions.

You see, one of the proudest things about being a Ravens fan is those original things we do at the games. But somehow, those in control have taken that from us. I'm bitter about it.

1)Back in Memorial Stadium, the whole stadium would "Move those chains", not just some fading hoorah in the corner of M&T Bank. Furthermore, we had our own rythm to it until PSInet put that dull slow bit on the video screens. Thanks for ruining it.

2)It sounds like this: "naaah nah na-na na-na HEY YOU SUCK!!".... for those of you who don't know, follow this link, and just after the main guitar riff (the na's above), follow it up with the rest. Am I correct in assuming that this originated out of College Park? Anyway, I can understand why management chose to ban the song from the stadium, but c'mon...

3)So after The Man effectively shut that down, we came up with something new to M&T Bank. Truthfully, it's not that good but at least it was something. In the beginning of the game, the opposing team's lineup is announced and after each name, we'd all yell out "SUCKS!!"... so The Man stopped announcing the opposing team's lineup...

Our thunder's being stolen, and I'm mad about it! It's the essence of being the home team fan. We the fans try our hardest to determine the outcome of the game, and I believe that more often then not, we do actually influence plays at the very least. So please, let me know what you think, and what can we do to regain our psychological edge?

P.S. Even before the Ravens started here, when we had a nameless CFL team in Baltimore, we chanted "C-O-L-T-S, COLTS!!" Then when they were named the Stallions, we chanted "C-O-L-T-S, STALLIONS!!" Awesome.

Not sure what stadium you are talking about. I think that M&T stadium is the most amazing, electrifying stadium that I have ever witnessed. I remember attending the Colts games at Memorial Stadium, but M&T brings the football/fans experience to a whole new level. Can you think of anything more thunderous than the greeting the fans give to the players as they exit the tunnel/enter the stadium. Our stadium rocks. The players think that the fans are awesome and are touched by the reception they get at M&T, we definetly are the 12th man in the players opinion. Have you ever witnessed a home game? Not sure where you are coming from?

Rock n Roll part 2 by Gary Glitter was banned by the NFL. The reason other teams are not announced is their choice--not the Ravens. Bill Belichek started the announced as a team thing a couple years ago. I miss my airhorn and cowbell, but I understand the rationale after "Bottlegate" in Cleaveland.

I guess you didn't make it to the Jets game this year. It was pretty deafening during their intros.

yeah i was still yelling "sucks" for the jets players 3 weeks ago.

as for old chants i remember the unified "Bull __________" for any poor call. my section still does it but the stadium doesn't resonate that chant like they used to.

I was never able to experience a Colts game as I was 4 years old when they were shipped off to Indy. So all I know is the Ravens and I really have no complaints.

I do think the ommission of Rock and Roll Part 2 is a downer but that is more of a College Park thing anyway. We just brought it over to the Ravens. So its not like it originated at M&T.

I really had no idea that the "Move Those Chains" chant was a big part of the Colts games. Thats interesting to know. Although, that has never been a huge motivating chant since its not one that we've played a whole lot over the years with our lackluster offenses.

Our player introductions are great and the way Ray Lewis is introduced is something that everyone should experience for once in their life. I've seen it for 9 seasons in person and it never ever gets old! I've even heard interviews with opposing players who anxiously await the entry of Ray Lewis to M&T on gameday. It's a very powerful and emotional experience.

As for the "SUCKS" during player introductions, that again is up to the opposing team. And again, that is another College Park chant that was brought over to M&T. As someone else stated, the Jets were individually introduced during this years pre season game and the "SUCKS" were in full force.

I do love our "D FENSE" chants in between plays while the defense is on the field. And the fans here have no problem getting loud for the defense.

Does anyone else remember when the Ravens tried to mimic the Packers "GO PACK GO" chant with a "GO RAVE GO" chant about 4 or 5 years ago? It was so incredibly stupid and I'm glad it only lasted a couple of games. Everyone would just look at each other like what the heck was that?

the ones who screamed that were always the ignorant, arrogant, closed minded obnoxious jerks. I love how hypocritical Ravens fans are. I try to enjoy a game with out having someone scream expletives in my ear :).

Personally, I HATE drunken Ravens fans lol...lay off the booze guys or go to a bar then. When your paying like 90 bucks for tickets, don't ruin the experience---.

Like I get people who sit behind me and always spill beer on me, etc. haha JERKS!

Have you ever witnessed a home game?
Oh so many. But you're right, I'm not trying to detract from our already extreme awesomeness as fans. Out-of-state people I've met who have been lucky enough to go to a game always mention how Ravens games are like college atmospheres. Yes, that is also something to be very proud of considering some NFL teams won't even show their home games to their home market because of lack of ticket sales... how sad. The only proper way to cheer at a game is to lose your voice.

And I hate people who go to an NFL game and expect people to treat it like a library. We are FIRED UP!!! This is the place to be rowdy. If you are annoyed by loud cheering and raucious behavior go to an Orioles game. There is plenty of room for you in that morgue.

See ya at M+T.

I yell, scream, cheer bang on the seat in front of me and don't drink alcohol because of medication I'm on. You do not have to kill your liver to enjoy the game:lol: I noticed SAFE was pretty aggressive with people that look/act impaired the last 2 years.

I think they have replaced the fan creedo with the evacuation route , which is state mandated.B)

This is the kind of post that you're supposed to give reputation to; instead of blaming "the man," Moderator 2 provided actual facts and welcome analysis.

And after saying all that, I accidentally neg repped it. Oops.

I don't want to pee on anyone's corn flakes, but the "Sucks" chant is used all over the place, they have been doing it in philly at flyers games for a few years now. I'm sure other cities use it too.

You shouldnt attend Public Affairs! The stadiums wouldnt be as rowdy as they are if they didnt allow beer drinking. I dont drink myself, but its common sense not to be critical in an environment where they allow alcohol and I still choose to buy tickets and show up. Relax bro. Im sure you probably are a little tooo quiet for the guys sitting next to you. But, do they judge you? No!
