Is Chris Mcalister Coming Back As Nickel Back?

70 posts in this topic

CMAC isn't returning. From what I hear he's having some bad alcohol problems, one of the main reasons he was benched last season. He was the first head on Harbaugh's chopping block, and the first example to the rest of the team that it doesn't matter if you are one of the best players or someone who won't see the field all season, if your not with the program you're gone.

So who steps down? Reed or Landry?

He's done!
Those are safeties, he is a cornerback. Neither of them would have to step-down and he goes behind foxworth as a nickle.

Just about every oppinion has been expressed here, there isn't much else for me to add exept what if he ends up with the Jets?
Nothing except that he would be THEIR problem at that point

Did you even read the reply that I was responding to?

Why would he be in the facility if he wasnt coming back to the team or working out for the team? I think Harbaugh is being very Belichick-y on this one. Thats like Lorenzo Neal or anyother free agent coming to the Castle just for the heck of it.

i think its safe to say that if C-Mac still had some game left and wasnt a problem..that Rex wouldve Definetly picked him up..

Rex not picking him up speaks volumes in this matter...and im pretty sure Harbaugh consulted with Rex last year while dealing with C-mac and if Rex was really the Head Coach like bart said he was C-mac wouldve been playing..

I'd rather have him than Frank Walker if he's willing to take a reduced role, but I don't think he's coming back.
me too bruh! Frank bothers me alot. He's the only reason i have any concerns about our D. Only if Chris can squash that attitude

i hope he doesn't, we don't need his negative attitude
His "Negative" attitude helped get us a Superbowl Ring. You dont know know what goes on in the lockerroom, neither do I, so don't act like you got him all figured out.

Speakin of SB, I dont recall Chris' attitude being put on display until his final few years with us. Maybe im wrong, but i didnt notice until 2006,2007. But who cares. If he's healthy, I think he would be a plus to our D which would make us more devastating to offenses.

But did we win that game? No! If it is true that C-Mac is moving back to Maryland, he could be signed by the Redskin's. How could I even say that!?

Cmac signing with the Redskins for 100 million dollars? Say it aint so!

*Snyder heard that Jones was interested in C-mac, so Snyder had to sign him before his buddy Jerry did. Nice plan Dan*

It's pretty well established that Chris use(s)d alcohol/marijuana regularly/excessively, and he had a clear spat with Harbaugh during training camp which apparently continued into the season after most players had adapted.

Furthermore, Chris is 32 years old and coming off a supposed injury.

Maybe he would be quality depth, but why take on all of these problems for a bench player?

Who cares if he drinks and smokes marijuana? Do you honestly think other people on our team dont do that

The only reason I wouldnt want him back is because of his injury. I dont think he healed up completely but I still think he is a better CB than Walker and Carr.

. . .

It's such an unnecessary risk.

Its an unnecessary risk if he hurts morale and destroys team chemistry or plays like crap. Ive talked about this before, professional sports are different you can literally do what you want off the field, short of being caught breaking the law and convicted, and it doesnt matter if you perform. Guys do it all the time, if you think it doesnt happen then more power to you, it all comes down to the players ability to leave all his off field shananigans off the field. Chris obviously couldnt last year and it cost him.

id love him back. we dont really have that big physical guy. We jsut plug him on the biggest guy on the field and let him make plays. he doesnt have the speed anymore because of his knees i would imagine but he can still play press coverage and man to man very well.

Come back C-Mac!!!

Why is this argument happening now? I think the team has made it's intentions with McAlister blatantly clear, so I really doesn't matter how "much" he could potentially help/hurt this team. It's a non-issue.

I'm sure a lot of guys in the locker would love to have him back, so do the fans ! i also think we need one physical receiver and that yeah, when healthy, c-mac can play at the level of any of our corners ( only when healthy )

How could he play man with bad knees and having lost a step or two (or three)?

He'd be better off in zone, not man. Either way, I sure don't want him....didn't really like him much when he was healthy.

Overrated then and even more so now :)

The Ravens don't necessarily need McAlister, but if you watched the Chiefs game then you have to admit our corners are not the "Gods" that a lot of you thought they were!

It's going to suck when the Patriots sign McAlister this week and he prepares them mightily with inside information for the Ravens Week 4 matchup with the Patriots. Yes, I realize he's no longer inside the locker room, but he knows PLENTY of our defensive players strategies, signals, tendencies, etc.

I think you can almost narrow it down to the Pats too, Chargers have a plethora of good young DBs, Bills have Mcghee and Mckelvin, and the Raiders seem to really like Johnson and Asomugha is legit. So that pretty much leaves the Pats.

The worst part about it too if he did goto the Pats, is you know he'd stay healthy all year long and be extremely motivated. And woudlnt you know turn into the C-Mac of '06 or something, just our luck lol.
