Is Chris Mcalister Coming Back As Nickel Back?

70 posts in this topic

Have heard that Chris McAllister has put his house on the market and moving to Maryland
Does this mean Ravens are bringing him back to be the Nickel Back?
Does he sign after first game, so his contract is not guareented?
Is he healthy enough to play?
What does everyone think?

I haven't heard of this until now, but I wouldn't totally be against the move if he is completely healthy and ready to see things Harbaughs way. If those two things are not in line then he can stay away. Either way we are solid and have a better secondary then we have had in recent years.

I'd rather have him than Frank Walker if he's willing to take a reduced role, but I don't think he's coming back.

You guys must love messing with my emotions :(
I read the title and thought there were talks, or at least some kind of rumor, that C-Mac is returning. That would have made my day.

Anyway, I'd love to see him come back.

I'd rather have Chris over Walker as our nickle but I doubt it. They like Walker because he can play ST. Cmac isnt going to play ST. So, we'd have to cut Lawerence or Parmele to bring him in. But then who do we cut if we are forced to pick up another wideout. Cant cut Edgar Jones because we are already thin at TE. Unless Burgess or Talvou go... I dont see it. Plus I am not sure he and Harbaugh see eye to eye. I think he's headed to the Jets.

According to WNST twitter Harbaugh said "No chance the Ravens bring back McAlister"

Why did Harbs have to say it like that lol?

Its too bad that McAlister and Harbuagh didnt see eye to eye last year, I always loved watching McAlister play (when he was healthy). Bring him back only if hes accepted that Harbaugh runs the joint now and that its time to do work.

Because McAlister isn't just an aging vet like Rolle; Chris was noted to have had numerous confrontations and/or disagreements with Harbaugh.

Many of the guys apparently didn't like Harbaugh's style in training camp last year, but most eventually adjusted, and virtually everyone is on the same page by now.

I loved CMac on the field, but if there is even a slight risk that he ruins our currently perfect chemistry, then he shouldn't be brought back.

C-Mac was on his own island but I never felt he "hurt" the team. I just think everyone let him do his own thing without too much confrontation about it. Probably because he always played his rear end off on gameday.

But I also don't blame Harbaugh for doing what he did. He's a new coach and he was trying to establish his formula and C-Mac obviously didn't see it the same way. I'm sure there was a lot of background stuff that we never heard or saw that went down between Harbs and C-Mac. I've never seen a player dismissed as quickly as C-Mac was. Especially a guy with his level of talent on any Ravens team. Something bad went down.

If C-Mac ever came back it would only be because he is ready to fall in line. Not to mention a lot of sucking up to Harbs.

I think reality could have hit C-Mac in the face. The dude is obviously a marked man. No one even gave him a shot to make a team. I was really shocked that he isn't playing on an opening day roster at the moment. I thought for sure someone would have picked him up.

Or maybe the knee is still really bad. Who knows? I just wish C-Mac and Harbs could have seen eye to eye. I didn't like seeing one of our drafted Super Bowl players leave in that manner.

I really, *really* wish Harbs would bring in C-Mac. A 1-on-1 discussion about the "team" and what is needed to get to the SB, and then things should work out if both sides agree.

That said, I mentioned when C-Mac was let go, that something didn't smell right with that. I said then, and still do, that I feel he will be back. The issue was money, in that I think we would have had to pay him more than what we could now get him for, and thus left him to test the market with his healed knee. Just a hunch.

I really think that C-Mac would be a good weapon this year, to add depth (and physicality) to the DBs. He is physical, and even before his knee finally went kaput, he was making plays (and an INT). But, we'll see...

Oh, and I agree, I never thought he ever hurt the team, and don't think he would if he returned.

I think the "issue" is that CMac didn't like Harbaugh's style initially, and never really adjusted like the other players.

Our secondary also did well without him playing for the entire season.

McAlister is also known to have a reputation of using marijuana/alcohol, and that isn't necessarily just a past issue either.

Again, I loved Chris as a player, but to bring back a guy with this many issues just to be a nickel is a bit trivial.

Maybe since his recent unemployment he needs to cut back on his expenses. I hear his house in Cali is going for 7.9 million or something like that. He may be just downsizing.

I don't care if a player and a coach don't get along at all. All I care about is that the player can play. Players and coaches don't have to say one word to eachother all season. Defensive players get their plays called by their coordinator. As long as McAllister isn't doing anything to sabotage the team, I don't see why any true fan that wants to see the team win would have a problem.

McAllister can tackle. Fabian and Frank can't. If Rolle was healthy, I wouldn't say we need another corner that badly. But Rolle is likely done playing football. And when Chris he's healthy, he can cover every single receiver not named Marvin Harrison. Harrison is gone, so he doesn't have to worry about that. I don't know a corner that has played Hines Ward better than C-Mac. He roughed Hines up. Back when Chris was playing, you never heard about Hines knocking anyone out because Chris was busy roughing Hines up.

Even if he's not coming back to the Ravens... I would just like to see him play again. I know a certain former coordinator of his that would probably welcome him! Haha.

But the coach does.

Don't you understand that a player being vocal about not liking a coach undermines the coach's authority?

we could definitely use Chris back because every yr we lose corners to injury and having Chris as a nickel would be great insurance....... Plus i believe chris has the skills to move to safety given he has lost a step (i.e. Rod Woodson, Carnel Lake at end of their careers) He has always been a reliable tackler and could play back and view the entire field and make aggressive plays on the ball..

Chris was rock solid ever since his rookie yr.... He never got as much credit as Champ Bailey (same draft class) but he has been a stable force for ravens .... I jus miss having corners like D.Starks and Chris ... cover well and tackle welll

It is too bad that he could not get along with Harbs, Chris as a #2 or #3 DB is far better that Frank "personal foul" Walker
