Nfl Network Predictions

12 posts in this topic

Normaly I don't care what the retards at the NFL network has to say, expecially Mike Mayock. But I was watching total access last night while I was playing my guitar when I stoped playing and had to back it up because I heard something come out of Mayocks mouth that I never thought I would hear. Mike Mayock picked us to win the division, and then Jayson LaConfora (the old Redskins beat writer) picked us to be the wild card seed. Like I said earlier, I nomaly don't care what the morons (my oppinion and I'm sure I share it with most of you) have to say about our team. But it's great to hear good things from the critics.

In their "special" last night they were all over the Ravens. Most of them expect a great season and a couple expect us to be playing in February.

It was a nice change of pace. And reflecting back of Billic, every time the pundits would talk great things about the team he would slack off on the rigors of the game planing. It seemed he would get content, he got the praise he wanted so he took it easy on the guys. The following year the performance would reflect.
Enter John Harbaugh, I think last year gave him a taste of what hard work and effort can achieve. I pray (and trust me, I'm not a praying type of person) that the change in coaches is what bucks the trend in our "good year bad year" records.

honestly I think they are wanting not a cinderella season for Joe but for him to go into the steelers games as Joe - Ice Cold instead of Joe cool I think everyone is sick of the steeler attitude personaly I want to see quinn beat the snot out of them and get blown out by us :D think of that irony it almost as delisciouse as a pitbeef with tyger sauce

Content is a nice way of putting it. I think Billick was very arrogant, especially when we won and that attitude influenced our players attitude on the field. They had this sense of entitlement and they went into every game acting like they couldnt be beat. I also think Billick was guilty of looking ahead, which made him underestimate other teams. One case that stands out to me was in 07, when we were about to play the Bills. All week leading up to the Bills, it just seemed like he was brushing them off, it seemed like most of his attention was focused on getting guys healthy during the bye week in time for Pittsburgh.

NFL network is saying Fear the Ravens. This team is very dangerous. The front line Defense can stop the run or even get to the QBs. You must be very quick on decision making when facing that Ravens defense or its gonna be a long day for you. And Flacco is very dangerous on the offensive side. Ether way its gonna be tough facing the Ravens. Thats what the guy said on NFL network.

Good or Bad why would anyone put too much into what these guys say. They all start there predictions off the same way....Even though it's too early to say, lets make some predictions, or in ESPN's case, Predictions sure to go wrong.

You can't predict football. Nobody could have predicted the Ravens would be in the AFC Championship after playing 17 striaght weeks. No one could perdict that loving some key players like Cmac, Landry and Gregg, wouldn't stop the Ravens from having the type season we did last year.

Fans in every city get caught up in this every single year. You either hate the guy for not picking your team, and go on to say how the media doesn't respect you. Call the guy a idiot, or whatever.

Then the next time when they pick your team you find a way to agree with that guy. All his point on why your team will win are great.

But then you don't want too many people picking your favorite team because then you can't use that we don't get enough respect thing.

It's all crazy to me, i even know some Steelers fans who think that the National media isn't given them enough credit or respect. It's very laughable.

In 07, Shannon Sharpe talks bad about Boller and the Ravens offense, then everyone hates him. Then last year he picks us to win the AFC Championship and everyone loves that pick.

These predictions are nothing more then entertainment. Everyone loves the Steelers and think they have a great shot at repeating(as they should), but then after the Steelers find a way to lost to, TEN, CHI, CIN, and SD starting the season off 0-4 everyone will write them off and find a new bangwagon to jump on.

The same goes for us, we come out and go 2-2 losing to both SD and NE everyone will say we aren't ready for the elite teams, but if we come out 4-0 and absolutely destroy both SD and NE, we will quickly become everyone's SuperBowl team.

Their views and opinions on things like this are no better then yours, mines, or any other fan.

Outstanding...hit the nail on the head. Every year a team (or several) that was supposed to be incredible miss the playoffs, and a team that was supposed to stink it up or at least be average (Dolphins, Ravens and Atlanta from last year) wind up making the playoffs. Every year this happens. This is why the games must be played, right? Otherwise, ESPN would just have the NFL give the VL trophey to the Steelers right now and say "We know they will win, so why bother with the season."

That's not to say that some of these predictions are not accurate, but they are lazy. I can go out and say Detroit, SF and Oakland will not make the playoffs, and that Pitt, NE, Indy will make it...suddenly I am a genius sportscaster! It would have been a real ballsy call to say the Ravens would have made the playoffs AND been in contention for the Super Bowl. But these so called experts don't want to tarnish their reps (or what's left of them). So, they take the easy wasy and call the Steelers the next champs. And maybe pick a sleeper so they can say I told you all so.

That being said, I predict a Bay area superbowl. :P

Well written, like I said in the original post. I usualy don't care at all what these guys say or predict. Just an observation that it's nice to hear somthing other than how bad our defence is gonna be cause Scott, Lenord and sexy Rexy are gone. We all know it's Ray making the on field calls and that Little Jimmy was a back up to Dawan and we have a very cappable Zibby to spell him.
