This theme is sick! Especially when your browsing the forum and there's nothing but purple, black and white on your screen. :P

Thanks again for the work you've put in to update it! :)

Thanks! This is pretty cool. When will the iGoogle theme be available? The other Ravens themes are not as impressive, especially for widescreen users.
Thank you! The original developers get a ton of credit for their hard work too, in fairness to them when they made the old theme back when widescreen monitors weren't the norm like it is today.

The iGoogle theme will be at least a month, unfortunately :(.
After it is designed, there is a whole process that you have to go through with Google, which normally takes 3-4 weeks before they will accept it.

I noticed that there are a lot of talented Photoshop guys here... if anyone is interested, we can make this a community project. Contact me for more info if you'd like to submit graphics to be used for an iGoogle Ravens page. If your graphics meet the requirements and is chosen, you'll get full credit and possibly a backlink for your work!

I must say, you are the man. This Ravens skin is awesome, and Firefox isn't that hard to get used to. just keep us updated on the black theme. (I know others have said they are waiting on it too, just putting my two pennies in)

Oh, you'll really love Firefox when you start using the extensions! If you'd like to take full advantage of FF, read on below for some tips B)

Click on Tools > Add-Ons, then select browse all add-ons in the first tab. Have a look around, there are literally thousands of extensions that will enhance your web experience. A couple of my favorites are Xmarks and StumbleUpon. There are tons more that do pretty much anything imagineable, from chat messengers to multimedia to torrents to more themes, etc.

Another big bonus is that you can really get into the guts of the web browser by typing "about:config" (without quotes) in the URL bar, and tweak a lot of settings in there. Try typing the above, then type "IPV6" (w/o quotes) into the search filter, then double click on the boolean value to set it to 'true'. You can also safely enable network pipelining by typing "pipelining" into the filter and set it to true. While you're at it, also set 'pipelining.maxrequests' to 10 and 'network max-connections' to an integer between 20-40, depending on how fast your connection is (faster connection=higher number). Restart Firefox, and a lot of web pages will load faster--sometimes noticeably faster.
I don't recommend changing any other settings unless you're sure of what you're doing, because you can easily degrade performance if you're not careful, just a heads up....

That should be enough for now to get you more comfortable with using FF, and before long, I'm sure you'll love it!

NM, see you found the folder.

Just remember to restart FF for it to take effect B)

If anyone is having any problem with the following, please let me know:

In the update, I added the "Close Button" to each tab (and sorry that it looks so crude for now, will be cleaning that up in the next update). It *should* only fully appear in your active tab (the tab you are currently viewing), and it should contract to a small rectangle to save space in your inactive tabs. This is very experimental since it violates pretty much every Mozilla coding standard in existence :o and I only have a few systems to test these kind of things on.......so.....if it isn't working properly, you know what to do...

May be out by the end of the month, but don't hold me to that just yet! I don't want to rush this one out like I did the current one; want to be sure that everything functions properly and looks sharp.

Do you have any suggestions/requests for the black theme?

Honestly, as long as it matches my sexy piano black laptop lid and Vista color scheme, I'm good. ;)

You know what's really nice, especially if you have a widescreen? Press F11 when you're browsing the forum. Then just move your mouse to the top of the screen if you need to access the toolbar.

You can press F11 again to toggle the effect B)

A minor update fixing browsing history, and also resizing the searchbar to match URL bar for a more uniform look is now available for download at the Update Page

One problem I've encountered is the text on the small download tab that pops up with your download status (speed, % complete, time remaining etc) is invisible! I don't know if it's just a problem on my end but I thought I would give you a heads up.

IMPORTANT!!!!

Please apply this update ASAP. A couple security flaws have been patched-- THIS IS A MANDATORY UPDATE.

The good news is that some enhancements were made to the appearance as well (mainly the entire tab bar) and looks nicer now. :)
The bad news is that in order to apply the security patches, we will need to reinstall the theme.

###############################################

First, download the install file and also userChrome patch

You will need to go to Tools > Add-ons, then select Themes tab.
Select the current Ravens theme, click uninstall and restart Firefox.

Then, unzip the userChrome package and copy (overwrite the old file) the userChrome.css file contained inside into your chrome directory. < how to find chrome folder >

Finally, click Tools > Add-ons, and then drag and drop the install file you just downloaded (named BaltimoreRavens.jar) into the box that appeared when you opened up the Add-ons tab.

Restart Firefox, and update is complete!

It looks good, there is one bit of funky tab behavior that I notice. If you go to the download section of Ravenstown and go through the wallpapers, if you click on a wallpaper and it loads it in the firefox window, the tab stretches across the entire tab bar.

Good catch. Will be included in fixes in next update.

Keep 'em coming guys, this is a huge help when you report any problems you come across...even if it seems like a small problem, it could be the result of something bigger or effect other things, so please post anything that doesn't seem right.

Hey guys,

Little bit of good news for those waiting on a black theme....

Everything has been coming along quite smoothly, and looks like this may be done sooner than I originally thought.

If all continues to go well, I may have the black theme ready this weekend :D, so check back tomorrow night for an update.

Here's a quick screenshot of how it's coming along....I don't think the screenie does it justice, looks better on the computer....

Click on image to enlarge for better detail. (Note-- My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050, so if you have a CRT monitor you'll have a bit of horizontal scrolling to do...sorry, nothing I can do to avoid that :()

A couple things you'll notice when using this is that the inactive tabs are now semi-transparent, and gives a nice little see-through effect. Also for the people using the purple theme, you may notice that switching between tabs feels a little "jumpy"; that has been fixed in this version, switching between tabs has a much more solid feel to it (sorry, guess not a big deal, but it pleases my inner geek so I had to share :P )

Still a lot left to be done, the finished version will look a little different, but just wanted to give a sneak-peak of where things are at right now.

Looking great! :D

Although I think the players names where the tabs would normally be would be quite a distraction.

I agree, on both counts.

Actually, it is the theme, not the home page.....judging from everyone's reaction, I think I better get rid of that real quick, lol...

Beta version of the Baltimore Ravens Firefox Black theme is ready for download.
Please note that there are still a couple minor things that need patched up (text in popup boxes are a little hard to read), and I'll be making a few more aesthetic changes.

As always, please report any bugs or post any requests/suggestions!

Download files below:

install file (save the file, and then Click Tools > Add-Ons. In the dialogue box that appears, drag this install file into it.)

instructions (save file, then right click and select "Extract..." for instructions and two additional files necessary for installation)

Here's a screenshot of the beta if you want to see it before you download and install (operating system is Linux Fedora 11 x64 w/ KDE desktop if you are a Linux user and wondering about compatibility):
