If you go back to my original reply, it says " I respect the Steelers (save hines ward) meaning EXCEPT Hines Ward. But you DO bring up some good points, good post.
I know that you said that. That is why I brought up the point of how there seems to be a double standard. It seems that people can say "I respect the Steelers, except for Ward", but the Titans can't be exused for stepping on a towel.

Do we still say the Cheaters are the team of the decade? I realize this is almost certainly an exercise in futility, but I want to come up with an argument that strips them of that title. All I've got for now at least, is that they have dominated a very weak division, whereas Bal and Pit have had to fight just to make it to the postseason. Thoughts?
In all fairness, I would say the Patriots are the team of the decade. They've won more regular season games, more playoff games, appeared in more SuperBowls, and won more Super Bowls than any other team in the NFL. I'd also argue that their division isn't really that easy, in comparison to the AFC North. Bengals/Browns anyone? Truth be told, the Ravens have been easy pickings on the down years too, so it's not like the Steelers have to go through the gauntlet either.
Or another twist, what if Pits wins their third?

Of course if the Cheaters do it again this year, then there goes any hope of debunking an argument for them.
If Pit wins the SuperBowl the world will end...

In all seriousness, the Pats will still have won more games, more playoff games, appeared in more Super Bowl games, and broken more records (I think).

That said, the Titans have a hard game before them. While I don't think their defense is going to be completely demolished without Haynesworth, the fact of the matter is that you cannot lose an elite player like that and not feel it all. Hopefully they will be able to get past it and neutralize Ben like they did last time.

Anyway, Titans...no question about it.

A lot of people seem to think it is a foregone conclusion that the Steelers will win. Why? They did lose to the Titans last year (yeah yeah..Haynesworth...yadda yadda). I think it's to close to call...i.e. if I was in Vegas, I wouldn't touch this game with your money. :P

I dont see how anyone could pick Pitt tonight. Does anyone remember Chris Johnson shredding their D last season and embarassing them at home? I know everyone remembers the Towel Stomp but does anyone recall the 31-10 or 14 score that was the final??? Nothing is going to change. You cannot properly gameplan for Chris johnson, hes too elusive

Well said. I don't care about the ratings personally but I did just gave you a point. ;)

No NFL game is a lock(not even against Detroit) and definitely not tonight's. As much as I dislike Fast Willie, he can go the distance if he gets the blocking around the age and everyone knows what Johnson can do. Both team don't have elite passing games but they can both put up points when needed.

That's what I've been saying. The Ravens might have lost the divisional play-off last year had Chris Johnson not got hurt. Everyone knew he was fast after he ran the 40 but I didn't know he was this elusive. Plus, he's supposedly bulked up which could help him running inside.

I'll save you the trouble. I called Tennessee a bunch of trash for that incident. And they are.

I never said they are our brothers. I compared some of the Ravens fans relationship with Steeler fans to my relationship with my brother.

I don't care who likes it or not, I stand by what I said.
Having sat behind a Steeler fan at M&T trying to watch a game while he waved that silly thing in front of me, I can't be too hard on the Titans. It's part of the game, along with all of the trash talk on the field, and what helps to separate the game from just a business. It's just a towel and not someone's head being stomped on. Personally, I hope the Titans, and a whole lot of other teams (ESPECIALLY THE RAVENS), turn those ugly tings into crying towels!

Losing King Albert (sorry, lol...) is huge. I think that their defense in particular played over their heads last year in large part because of him. As it is, I think Finnegan is a fluke and without Haynesworth up front, I don't see that line producing much pressure to protect their secondary. I think that Finnegan is going to get attacked and probably give up a couple of huge plays.
On offense FatWhale White will be a non-factor as usual...fun fact, I think something like 12 of his 15 TD's last year came from within two yards.
As long as they contain Johnson to some extent, they have a real good shot at winning this game.

If he thinks the Titans-Steelers game is physical. Wait until the Sunday Night game (Ravens - Steelers) in late November. Cold, important - physical.

I don't think that is a completely idiotic statement. You could say that the Titans are a "smashmouth", physical team. A term which is getting a little old, imho. :P
They have a dominating defense (2nd in points allowed), and they aren't your typical flashy, pass oriented offense either.
That plus the fact that last year, the Titans beat the Steelers by more points in one game than the Steelers beat the Ravens by in three games, certainly makes them a tough opponent.
Go Titans! :P

You mean Chris Johnson who had 69 yards rushing?? And the game was at Tenessee, not Pittsburgh.

Yes the Steelers got rolled but it was the Titans D and not their offense that was the dagger.

I dont understand everybodys feelings about the Titans being classless and out of place for disrespecting the Stealers after crushing them last year. With the schedule we have, we cant afford to cheer the stealers on to victory Thursday. Regardless of what happened in that game, They are still our division rivals. Remember, if they win games, We Lose if we dont keep up. Im picking the Titans. Oh, I did laugh when the Titans Stomped those Towels. Don't act like you didnt! Oh, I call them the Stealers becuz they have a reputation for Stealing games.lol

Haven't read the entire thread yet, but I can't believe there is one single Ravens fan on this board that voted for the Steelers. the 7% that did, must be trolling Steelers fans

As argued earlier, the original incarnation of the poll was misleading (it was titled "Who do you think will win?" but with a subtitle "Who do you want to win?"), so some fans voted with some confusion for the Steelers. Others were already identified Steelers fans.

But, that's irrelevant, the overwhelming majority already speaks for itself. ;)

This pre-game show on NFL network makes me puke a little into my mouth. They should call it the Steelers Pre-game show.

Rod Woodson, Franco Harris. Top 20 Steelers of all-time lists. Mike Tomlin. Haven't seen anything on the Titans.

Franco Harris. "There are 31 America's team, there's only one world's team, the Pittsburgh Steelers". Seriously I'd rather lop of my manhood than watch this.

The RAVENS and who ever is playing the Steelers...Go Titans!!!

I agree. I bought a tee shirt in OC this summer that says " I support two teams, the Baltimore Ravens and any team that plays the Steelers". Love it

Even on a night that serves as a coronation of the Champs, that's still a bit of overkill, for them to hype the Champions without barely a mention of their first opponent. I'd never thought I'd say I felt bad for Titans fans, but for a second, I kinda did there. Then I remembered who they root for. -_-

I know what you're saying but the Steelers did win the Superbowl and they are actually playing football tonight. And it also doesn't help that its the only game that is on T.V. tonight. So really, there isn't much to talk about other than the Steelers and Titans.

Which is why I'm just not watching any pre game and I'm going to The Barn to watch the game. So I won't be able to hear any of the commentary either because there will be a band playing. :P

I understand they won the superbowl and they are playing tonight. But...

I don't see any Titans peeps coming on stage. I don't see any Titans traditions being talked about. Hell I don't see any pictures of Titans. I see a lot of discussion about "America's Team". That team is the Steelers. That's all I see.

Side note. Why does everybody need to discuss "America's Team", it's a delusional principle. They need to stop labeling it with superficial titles. It's really the team that can convince a bunch of drunk rednecks with no real team affiliation to don the Jersey of a bangwagon team.

I apologize in advance. I'm chalked full of rage. I think its because the Steelers are playing.

I laugh at anyone who really cares that the Titans stomped on a yellow towel. The Titans weren't being classless, the Steelers and their fans just shouldn't have an emotional attachment to a rag.

I'm rooting for the Titans. They don't have Hayneworth on their team anymore, which makes them less unlikeable and also less threatening...meanwhile I really want to see ESPN react to the Steelers losing. I'm putting money on them blaming it on "distractions".

If they could BOTH loose that would be nice, but the only loss that counts is the steelers. We are going to have a TOUGH time taking the division. The sooner the steelers start loosing the better.

Who are the 7 crazies voting that they want the Steelers to win? Must be the few Steelers fans floating around here, no sane Raven fan would be rooting for their primary division rival to win.

Here we go again..

Their was some confusion in the original post. It's been fixed now, but the question was stated differently - so some people voted Steelers for that question. Some of these people would change their vote now. Except for the Warden.
