Only One Fullback

16 posts in this topic

I like Cook, in that he is a blocker, pure and simple. I know in todays game you need to be multi-faceted to be successful, and he showed that with a catch/TD in PS, but at the same time he knows what his job would be with us, and was probably the best blocking FB out of the draft.

As the OP said, I hope that we don't lose Le'Ron's services all year. Some backup would be nice.

Bruce Cunningham just said it's unlikely the team will go after Neal. I have a feeling Cook will be on the roster at some point this year though.

It's really not that comman to carry 2 FBs. Not too many teams have a true fullback, as most teams will take a bigger running back and use him as a lead blocker.

I think if the Ravens feel McClain is being strecthed thin, then we'll bring in a backup Fullback, but for right now, the backup fullback responsibilty isn't anything that Edgar Jones can't handle.

It's not that difficult to pick up FB off the streets. Know that the roster has played out, you might see Lo Neal return in favor of Lawrence, if need be.

Ah there are not many teams that carry more than 1 FB. Some teams use a TE to fill in if needed and some do not even have a FB.

I don't know if anyone posted this:

According to RavensInsider:

The Ravens tried out TE Tony Curtis this week as well former Steelers FB Carey Davis along with four other TEs, and...

Ravens also worked out former Cardinals fullback Tim Castille.

Seems like a back up tight end is more pressing than FB. Heap always seems to get obliterated when he catches the ball over the middle. According to some iggles fans I spoke to LJ Smith is made of glass

I agree blocking tight ends might be more useful then some FB to block on 3rd/1/goal for McClain.

Ngata can do that.

It sounds like Matt Lawerence's days on the team are numbered. Add a Offensive player, I would believe he is the odd man out.

They might sign Lorenzo Neal next week. If not, Jason Cook will probably still be available.

Lawrence's days are numbered just like he would be cut before training camp and just like he wouldn't make the team!!Its amusing to hear how everyone keeps doubting Lawrence!! The kid is a fighter and paved his own way from up!! NOTHING was handed to him!! It's nice to see someone who worked to get in the NFL and make it!! He even did good on special teams recording a three tackels and almost a FF!! Just give em some credit already!! PLEASE!!
