Madden 10 Worth The Buy?

28 posts in this topic

i dont buy madden but this years madden was the best madden i have ever played/bought. i paid full price and dont feel like i paid more than the game was worth. it still has kinks to work out but no game is perfect.

Its def the best madden so far. It is very realistic beside a couple of things. Only problem I have with it is the holding on field goals even though it helped me win a couple of games.

Question for everybody, what the hell is up with Derrick Mason hands? 3rd down, wide open, he drops the ball. I never took Mason to have bricks for hands.

Anybody else have this problem. He should be a third down automatic.

Actually, Mason's been one of my most reliable targets on third down. Maybe it's the routes you're having him run? Not sure. I usually hit him on a curl route or a slant. However, also note that I sometimes use Mason/Clayton in the slot, so that might be another reason why they're more reliable for me.

Slot WRs seem to be a lot more dependable than the true wideouts. Heap and Ray Rice are usually the leading receivers for me.

I want to throw to Mason and Clayton - but there is a much greater chance of getting picked off throwing to these two.

Overall ratings don't mean anything really, and plus they will always upgrade the rating from week to week if you have online.

And honestly, any Madden player worth their salt can play with any team, really.

Very true. I played my brother with the Bengals and he had Cardinals. It was a blow out and the Bengals have a horrible overall rating on there. But he's not very good at the Madden series to begin with.

As far as Mason goes, he worked well with me in my first franchise game. I think he had one or two TD passes. I don't think he dropped one pass. But I'm like that one fellow, my main targets are RB and TE, unless I can them in man coverage then I hit Mason/Clayton.

On a side not, I ran two back with Figurs. haha

Kick Returns are definitely easier this year. Even on my skill level. I can always count on Carr to get me a touchdown every two games.

I'm debating on getting Madden 2010. Is it enjoyable enough to buy?
If you are a Madden player then yes it is well worth it to buy it. If you are not a Madden player than it is still well worth it to buy it, just look forward to getting a lot of beat downs until you get your skills together.

Speaking of getting beat down, so I played some random kid last night who picked the Pats (I was the Ravens, of course.) I ended up with something like 3 times the offensive yardage he put up and Flacco had a big day passing.

Problem is, I lost 14-0.

Both TDs came off of interception returns in the 1st quarter. The kid ran the exact same defensive play out of the 46 and his pressure was too much for me to establish the run and I didn't have enough time to throw. When he was on offense, he ran the same three plays and I got three picks off him. He also went for it on 4th down most times (and failed every time) -- y'know, playing cheaply.

I almost had a comeback several times in the second half, but basically handed the game to him with stupid mistakes and playing out of my element. I think that was the worst kind of loss to swallow, actually losing a game that could've easily been won. It'd have been different if I lost a tight, competitive game. But man...just another reminder of why I rarely play online to begin with. -_-

I only find online play acceptable when you have several guys you can play with that that don't play cheap, maybe like 10 or so. A lot of people run same plays online, its ridiculous. One guy I played with on 09 played with one offense play and it was to Chris Johnson and I couldn't stop it. I think it was some kind of screen.

Yes, I am an avid Madden player. I always reach a dilemma when it comes out to buy it or not. I've been getting them since 04, so I enjoy the game. I was just making sure it's worth to spend 60 on.

It was relatively easy for me to run em back. I ran one back on my brother and I ran two back in one game against CPU. Granted it was on All Pro. Warming up to All Madden haha. But I'm satisfied with the buy!

All-Madden still kicks my butt. I've only won maybe 65% of the games I've played on that difficulty. And I ALWAYS lose when I get away from my intended gameplan.

I hate that, but Ive found ways to stop it. I played a guy who was using the pats and he was throwing WR screens to moss on EVERY, and I mean EVERY play. The first one went for a TD and I was flabbergasted when he did it again on his next possesion and got 25yds. I realized he was gonna continue so I called a nickel 1-5-5 cover3 and shifted everyone over to Moss' side. Controled the MLB and tackled him for a loss 3 times. He went for it again on 4th and 18 and I pick6ed it. Needless to say, his gameplan changed and i still ended up winning by 20+pts by using his tactic against him.

I've finally bought the game today, picked it up online so I should have it by Monday or Tuesday!

I found a UK site that was selling it for £24.99 ($40). How could I turn that down?!?!! :D

I do not like Madden this year.

I like how they separated the elite players from the non-elite and all but the game is so slow.

I was running the ball with Chris Johsnon and somehow Antonio Pierce caught up with me.

<_< I'm taking this game back.

You can change the game speed in the settings menu; that was even one of the things they talked about in promoting the game, where they wanted to balance gameplay and make it so that the speedsters don't dominate.

Its better, but its not perfect. Hester, Moss, Owens and company get behind defenses more regularly than the Chargers in week 2

I think the game speed's default is set to slow. You have to up it to normal.

The game was slowed down to make it more realistic. EA measured the speed of the game and players with 99 speed were running 40 yards in like 3.2 sec and no one can run that fast.
