California Wildfires

12 posts in this topic

In the grand scheme of things football is minor but I am still curious. How close is the Chargers stadium to where the wild fires are taking place? And after last year did the NFL come up with a natural disaster plan for games? We could be looking at losing a bye week, two years in a row.

I think they once moved a game to Arizona.

That sounds like a plan; we can just relocate the game to Cleveland. :)

You had to go there lol. It happened in 2003
20. Sun Devil Stadium hosts Chargers-Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football (2003)

Wildfires in southern California forced the game to be moved from San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, and Sun Devil Stadium picked up the contest.

Tickets to the game were free, and donations were collected to help families affected by the fires. The Dolphins beat the Chargers, 26-10
It would most definitely suck if the Ravens lost their Bye week two years in a row. The NFL has to have a better emergency plan than to just cancel out a team's bye and move the cancelled game to the week their bye should have been. My question is, what if that were happen on the last week of the season? what would they do if one or both of the teams were supposed to play playoff games the following week? It just seems like the NFL hasn't prepared for the worst and just makes up rules as it goes along

yeah 2 years in a row with a bye in week 2. That would be the NFL sticking it to us. However I think we could run through our schedule strong but im certain we would have alot of injuries
