Ravens Bars In Dc

13 posts in this topic

Hi all, my plans are to head out this evening into the DC area and watch the Ravens vs Falcons pre-season game, but I really have no clue which bar(s) the fans tend to gather at in DC. My limited experiences with the bars in the DC area have found me being the only Ravens fan in the bar with a bunch of fans from other teams watching, so clearly I'm not going to the right places :P

There was one bar in College Park that was endorsed by the Sun; The Thirty Turtle that had a Ravens following during Sundays but I'm not sure if that is true, you might want to call first.

Buffalo Billiards in Dupont usually shows all games. But we should get NoVa people and DC people to unite and get a big group to support ravens on sundays and even make trips to bmore for home games...

Definitely. I'm leaning towards heading to Buffalo Billiards this Sunday for the chargers game since you mentioned it.

Other than Buffalo Billiards, does anyone know of any other Ravens-friendly bars on the red line? I went to one in Bethesda for the Chargers game and they were playing the Steelers game on the big screen. The Steelers! And we were in Maryland. Quite disgusting, indeed.

I feel like there won't be a Ravens bar unless we get together as fans and make one our own. We've gotta start something ourselves, it seems.

Well, I just lit up my over-the-air TV tuner to confirm that channel 13 would be available tomorrow and found out that they changed their frequency over the summer. My electric toothbrush now emits a stronger signal than WJZ. Needless to say, no more games that are not on Channel 9 for me at home.

I live in Sterling, VA and would be VERY interested in knowing where I can go to watch the games that aren't on DC stations. Traditionally, I've never been a big "sports bar" kinda guy, but since I canceled DirecTV in '08 and now that I cant get channel 13, I'm feeling a little desperate to evolve. Sitting in a place with other fans would surly make it MORE fun.

I'm working on it! Loll have to have the "numbers" to convince a bar through ;-) 2 - 3 fans on a Sunday isn't going to do it.

I know we're down here though, I'm getting shout outs, I see the bumper stickers. I suspect many are season ticket holders.

Well my experience with Buffalo Billiards for the Chargers game was that while they did put on the Steelers game on the really big screen, there was a corner TV that had a small but spirited contingent of Ravens fans watching the Chargers.

Of course, after the Steelers choked, they switched the TV to our game.

That being said, it was still a decent experience. Do you think a bunch of us could invade the bar for the Patriots game this week? I get the feeling they might put it on the big screen anyway if enough Pats fans invade, but let's really justify it by showing up with our purple pride!

I live in Alexandria, and have lived in manassas and woodbridge over the past 12 years. I have found a few places that will air Ravens games, but usually on a tiny set off in a corner somewhere surrounded by large sets playing crapsburg or something else. I used to have Dish network and used my sisters mailing address in Baltimore and had Baltimore locals. I gave up on that and went to Directv with sunday ticket and now have several monitors in my sunroom with multiple games and Ravens game on main. Now all my neighbors are over every sunday and last season I converted a dreadskins fan and a non-football fan into proper Ravens fans! I usually smoke a couple of boston butts for pulled pork or do ribs or wings and friends bring dishes and sides potluck style. Oh and of course plenty of beer! More Ravens fans are always welcome! Hard to get some Ravens love in VA any other way! any iterested email me at cornerstone1607@aol.com

Anyone know of a good place to watch the Ravens-Vikings game in DC or Montgomery County, preferably with other Ravens fans?

Unfortunately I don't; however I'm going to the Original Steak House & Sports Theater in Ashburn, VA. Great place, I checked it out last night.
