Roddy White Or Anquan Boldin?

6 posts in this topic

Who would you have taken?

It was between these two, it was the 3rd round and i had a middle pick, like 5th or 6th in a 10 player league. The clock was ticking down and i had to choose and I just let my hand do pick it without thinking and I picked....Roddy White.

But I'm not sure if I will regret it or like it. It will be something I check through out the season. I guess the positive thing is Boldin has Fitz, while Roddy has no one else, while Boldin is on a throwing team, while Roddy is on a team with a good running back (Note: I also have Turner on my team :) )

So who would have you taken?

Other Notes: I took Turner with my first pick, and Randy Moss with my second. The best running back available at the time was Ronnie Brown.

You should be fine. Last year White had 88 rec. for 1,382 yds. and 7TD while Boldin had 89 rec. for 1,038 yds. and 11TD.

I also see Ryan being very improved and Warner on a bit of a decline.

I'm never a fan of having a starting WR & RB on the same team. Especially the Falcons. In your case I would have taken Boldin.

But if I had to choose, I'd pick White. Because the Falcons face much tougher run defenses this year, so their running game should take a step back. Especially since Turner put up huge rushing numbers last year. The Falcons will rely more upon the passing game. So the edge goes to White, because if anything his numbers should increase.

But boldin Missed like 3 or 4 games.

I am a little skeptical about Warner this year (surgery, sucked in preseason) and I try to avoid him and his receivers in the draft a little

The other issue with Boldin is, it'll be hard to distribute the ball the way the Cards did last season and have three 1,000-yd receivers again. Steve Breaston will likely improve as the season goes on and eventually become the #2 receiver, especially if Boldin gets hurt or becomes distracted by his contract yet again. Larry Fitzgerald is the undisputed #1 receiver in AZ and will get all the first looks by Warner, guaranteed -- especially if Warner struggles and needs that safety valve. Roddy White, on the other hand, is the #1 receiver for the Falcons and will therefore get most of the balls thrown his way when Matt Ryan isn't looking at Tony Gonzalez over the middle. Additionally, there are more porous pass defenses in the NFC South than the NFC West (weird as that sounds) and there's more upside with Ryan than Warner at QB, which means more upside with Roddy White at WR than Boldin in Fantasy Football this year.

White. He's a 1 receiver, Q's a number 2. His QB will have a better year than Q's QB. Q is injury prone, White is not.
