Preston summarized the teams situation very well. A lot of people dislike him because he isn't scared to post controversial statements.

we need to get Koch that extension. Rosburg will pull out his hair if he has to find another ST contributer next season!

I think Reed looked real physical out there and wish he got that pick off of delhomme

A lot of people don't like him because he insults their intelligence with his childish writing. Some people like him because they think what they're getting are facts when in reality it's a bunch of made up BS to sell news papers. I prefer to read from writers that haven't been proven wrong time and time again. Others are merely blind ignorant followers that can't decipher truth from lies. They're the same people that watch Jerry Springer...

Note to the moderators; Why do Preston related threads remain in the Ravens Talk forum? Isn't this off topic material?

I found it hilarious that he had to comment on Washington and how he calmed down his struttin'

"No Soul Train"

Sigh......it's not like Mike wouldn't do it if he was in the NFL or even playing back yard ball w/ friends.

Why even comment on that Preston.......?

If we're discussing the Ravens-related article rather than Preston himself, it's appropriate for Ravens Talk. If it becomes a Preston discussion, then it goes to Off-Topic.

Rob Burnett interviewed Ed last night and asked him about the tackling. Ed said he doesn't worry about big hits anymore, he's only interested in making tackles. I don't blame him, one wrong hit and his career could be over.

I would, Kelley was being a little excessive at times with his first down celebrations. He should calm down a bit, and he showed that this past game

Mike Preston didn't play a snap, call a play or even stand on the sidelines. His column on the game is not Ravens related. If George Bush made a comment on The Ravens and I posted it here and talked about it would it be Ravens related or off topic?

Yes? What kind of question is that? Anything about the Ravens should go in Ravens talk...luckily the option to not click on a thread exists. If you don't like Mike Preston, don't click on a thread that has Mike Preston in the title. Duh.

I agreed with this review and thought he made a lot of good points. About Kelley Washington, personally I love his flamboyance. If he's out there dancing it means he just made a good play, which, considering the history of our offense, we should all be grateful for. Looking for him to have a great season with us.

"Also, you notice now that Ravens safety Ed Reed doesn't tackle anymore with his shoulder, but just tries to bring down opposing runners or receivers by grabbing them and slinging them to the ground. He appears to be protecting himself from having further neck damage."

God I hope Ed Reeds neck can get better.

It's the hypocrisy of the whole thing; the mods will pick and choose which rules to follow. A Preston thread always turns into a thread about Mike Preston and never about the Ravens but its always allowed to remain. But if you make one little reference about politics the thread gets pulled and you get a warning. Politics are more a part of everyday life then Mike Preston but your put on notice if you make reference to it.

I couldn't careless about Preston as I know he's just a windbag with very little writing skills. If he can't put some childish spin on a story he won't write it. As I've said before I much prefer Duffy's writing over anyone at the Sun, and that's not knocking Duffy, he's a true reporter and not a tabloid writer like Preston.

Almost anyone who makes a play now a days can be called being a bit "excessive" with their behavior.

If George Bush wrote an article on the Ravens, then we'd allow it to be talked about in Ravens talk.

Over half the comments in this thread relate to the content of the article, rather than Preston himself. In fact, you're the one who veered the conversation back towards the merits or otherwise of Preston's columns.

Allowing a thread about a Preston column and not allowing comments or sigs regarding politics are apples and oranges, so I can't really see your point.

Ed made solid contact on a tackle in the 1st quarter and looked fine. But yeah, as long as he still tackles then who cares about how hard he hits - we have Landry to thump people in our secondary.

How is his column on the Ravens game not Ravens-related? Did I miss something there?

I think some Preston bashing got deleted. He is the most divisive personality in all of the Baltimore Media, people either love or hate him and have a had time separating it out.

Sometimes I dont agree with Preston, or sometimes I just dont like how he writes some of his stuff.

Like it or not he is more of a realist. He writes it as he see's it and he does not sugarcoat it.

I mean really.. why does anyone wanna hear something good about a player if indeed that player was or played terrable.

I wanna hear another side thats more close to what accually happens.

I thought his analysis about this game was pretty darn good. And if Preston writes a story about the Ravens then.. well its about the Ravens and not a off topic..

From what I've read on these forums, I'd have to believe most people hate him. With all the venom directed towards him, you'd think his last name would be Irsay. :P

All articles on the Ravens from Mike Duffy and James Walker should go in off-topic too, considering they never took a snap in the NFL, right? Journalists are as much a part of the sports world as the owners, GMs, coaches, player, etc., as much as we fans might hate to admit it. They connect the fans to the entire equation, and are a necessity.

Okay I'm done with that.

I'm not too concerned with the guys who are baby-sitting their weak spots during preseason, better than them aggravating something and missing regular season games.

Indeed, the hypocrisy. Ahh, the irony. The only person to make a big deal, not about Preston's comments in the linked article but about Preston himself, has been you! So who is being hypocritical?

Anyway, I liked the article and am also glad to see that Kelley didn't do all that brash stuff in the Panthers game..I must say it did put me off to see that just because I am not used to seeing it from our offense, :P, but also because Mason made how many clutch catches and all he did was toss the ball to the ref and trot back to the huddle..somehow I like that much better.

I can understand being excited about a play, but, like you say, I also like the quiet, confident way better. Besides, when Mason does that, it's like, "Yep, just another day at work, another catch, another touchdown." The brash displays can be interpreted as the guy being excited because he did something he ordinarily doesn't do - make a great play.
