WHY COULDN'T WE DO THIS LAST YEAR!!!! I know it's a new year and everything but, we could've really used his offense in the Titans and Steelers playoff games last year. I hated how we used our two injured RB (McClain and McGahee) up until they could barely walk, and Rice was sitting there on the sideline. I think we could've won it all if we utilized Ray Rice last year. But Oh well.

Let's not make this mistake this year. I could see Rice being out 2nd leading receiver this year. Since i'm living here in Miami, I'm waiting to see all of the Raven fans down here in February! GO RAVENS!!!!!

Everyone including myself was saying that last year in the postseason. We did not use Rice, and there was no good reason for it.
I know what you're thinking — "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But, being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Wasn't he injured last season at the end?

He got injured towards the end but he was cleared to play for Pittsburgh, got 1 rushing attempt and caught 3 balls(still managed to get 40 yards receiving).

Rice was also fumbling towards the end of the season. Don't forget many rookies hit the rookie wall.

I think hes really the key this year to breaking it open against top ranked defenses, a simple check down with him 1 on 1 with a linebacker. Its that easy, he may not be a Brian Westbrook, but he can get damn close.

Flacco was throwing picks including the winning INT TD in the AFC Championship game, what's your point?

Yep, this is why I keep comparing him to Tiki. Rice is just flat out dangerous.

You are right I was mistaken, 1 fumble against Cinci week 1, IDK who I was thinking about. He had no stats the last couple games.stat link

I think I'm thinking McClain 1 against Dallas and one against Miami both games late in the season

Ray Rice has some nice explosiveness and play making ability, I wish I had his agility. I can't wait to see him rack up the yards this year.

Ray Rice to me will be more of a Reggie Bush than anything else. He will get rushing yard here and there but he will get more yards recieving than anything else. He makes bad choices running the ball but is actually smart with screen plays and check down plays.

Rice runs with far more authority than Bush does between the tackles, Rice is a tough kid...Bush not so much.

Don't compare Rice to Bush because that isn't even fair. Bush has never had a 1000 yard rushing season and has only got over 500 receiving yards once. For a starting RB he only has 12 rushing TDs while LeRon McClain in one season had 10 TDS. Bush is a bust. Rice is going to be 10x the RB that Bush is mark my words.

Wait... now the OP is saying Harbaugh & Co. made a mistake in holding Rice back at the end of last year even though he was injured? And now, even though Rice has just begun to get starting touches, he's already being categorized as a bad runner?

You guys have a funny way of showing your appreciation for excellent performances from Harbaugh's staff last year and Rice so far this year.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but has Rice had a 1000 yard season? Lets talk about how good Rice is at the end of the year, until then lets not even try to make comparisons to current or past players as we really havent seen enough of him at a full time role.

The reason why we didn't use rice like this last year is because the offense wasn't built this way.

Right now the Ravens are doing a great job of blocking with just their 5 olinemen. Last year we jad to max protect a lot.

If you can't get Heap down the middle attacking LBs and Safeties, then it doesn't provide the spacing for Rice to be effective on checkdowns.
The reason why he seems to have so much space is because the LBs take really deep drops, to protect against Flacco going down field.

Well last year, Flacco averaged like 170 yards per game, and didn't attack defenses as much as you see in the preseason this year.

Also the reason why Rice wasn't used as much was because he was worn down by playoff time. Rice has said plenty times this year that his conditioning wasn't what it needed to be to handle a full NFL season. His reasoning for that is that last offseason he was preparing for the Combine and not a season.

This year Rice will be ready to do all of what Cam needs in this offense.

I keep telling people that the 09 Ravens offense will look much like the 06' chargers offense.

Ray Rice is better then Bush for the simple fact that he can run between the tackles and bush cant lol. Heck even on Madden 09 his stats increase if you turn him into a WR. LOL

Ray Rice is a unique comodity, to me he reminds me of a Darren Sproles, and we all know how he came on last year for the Blots! I see Willis losing a majority of the touches to Ray and eventually losing the job all together. I think the writing is on the wall. Willis is a great RB but it looks to me as if he takes some plays off. I was excited to see him come to B-Town, I thought it was a change that we needed, but unfortunately I really think he's not happy and that, to me, shows through his play.

Rice got us out of a lot of third and long situations last year. Let bygones be bygones.
