Flacco looked good but a lot of his numbers came from throwing it to ray rice, which is fine, but since it being pre season I wish he had trusted his wideouts more and tried to make big plays.
Phillip Rivers gets a lot of his production from throwing it to Ladanian Tomlinson(or at least he DID). Throwing it to a back over a tight end or a wide receiver is just a good play as any. Don't forget he also got the ball to Mason, Washington, and Heap on more than one occasion.

How could Flacco look this good if he doesn't have anybody to throw to?
Um, because it's pre-season?

You just wait til Ravens get a speedy deep threat guy when Flacco throws those bombs. Right now Clayton and Mason just run patterns. Heap can pop up anywhere without anyone notice him amd Rice can catch passes too.
Yeah, we get him a deep threat, then they may as well just send us the Lombardi now. Really hope we get someone that can help put Flacco over the top.

Joe cool looked..........well cool.

Way to get Heap involved in the end-zone. I want to see more of that in the regular season this year.

Washington made some plays and Mason as always came up with some nice big catches. And hell of a game by Ray Rice.

Flacco is spreading the offense and you gotta like what we've seen out of him so far. Cam is making this offense very exciting!

Flacco looked cool and calm as ever. He put together some impressive long scoring drives.

Thank you Cam Cameron and Flacco!, your making our Ravens offense very exciting to watch!

13 of his 23 complete attempts went to the Running Back but that was only 79 of his 247 yards (67 from Rice). What a relief Rice and Mason are for the passing game, making everyone else's job easier. Flacco improving with each game still.

I was very impressed with the Flaccster last night, I thought it was his 5th or 6th season, looked very solid and no happy feet, step and through is old news to him, only saw him throw off his back foot once when getting hit. IN FLACCO WE TRUST!

I'm looking forward to Bruce Cunningham's show tomorrow to hear what Mike Preston has to say about Flacco.

To me, Flacco played very well. He made some really good throws like the one down-field to Washington. I don't blame him for checking down to Rice as much as he did because Rice was great after the catch. The only negative play he had was when he held the ball a bit too long and got sacked in the 1st quarter but I don't see that happening mid-season.

I am so pleasantly shocked at the Ravens Offense I don't know what to do with my self.

It's nice to have a complete team. It used to be that only the D was worth watching, not any more! This could be a problem, though. When the Ravens went on offense, it was time to go to the bathroom, make a sandwich, cut the grass, do some dishes, etc. :D Guess I'll have to wait 'til halftime now.....

Ah, that's a good stat line you came up with. So, Flacco averaged nearly 17 yards per completion to the wideouts/tight ends, which is pretty darn solid.

All the threads about us needing a wide receiver seam a little bit silly now.We didn't even have Clayton out there. Not to say that a pro bowl receiver would me nice but we went to the AFC title game with out Washington and Heap mostly was a blocker Lj could be good if healthy. I think the sky is the limit. Can we please start the season NOW!

hmm...I think it's a little silly that after 3 quarters of one preseason game against an average defense, suddenly we're an offensive juggernaut who should feel good to rest on their laurels, rather than address an obvious weakness.

I cant wait for the next time Flacco struggles a bit, then everyone freaks out about that and the Troy Smith lovers start their threads and the WR threads run rampant again....

Well I think people are happy because maybe instead of being perceived as "resting on our laurels wihout addressing a weakness" that maybe the Offense can move the ball on its on, Flacco wont be stuck on Mason, Rice can be a huge asset out of the backfield, and that Flacco has the confidence in himself now to go through progressions and look downfield. We dont have a massive vertical freak threat, and who knows maybe we never will, but that doesnt mean we cant move the ball and score points because in the end it will come down to Flacco anyway.

Look at it this way. If our first unit can do so well against Carolina, we can probably do well against other not-so-great defenses. We play several teams with defenses that are average at best. The ones I can think of are KC, Denver, Oakland, Detroit, Cincy (maybe) and Cleveland. That's half our schedule right there. Besides, a Ravens team with a solid passing game will make any other NFL team shake in their cleats IMO. Now when other teams stack the box against us, we can just split Rice wide in a 3 or 4-receiver set and let Flacco do what he does best.

ok a military analogy flacco is like that new Paladin round where ever a receiver is I think he can fit that ball in there , and thats not to far from the truth watch some of those passes he fits them in areas most qbs in year 2 look at and say nope not gonna think about it he doesnt think he just does it

I definitely believe that Washington took that 3rd string WR job from D Williams.
Although Washington did have a great game, D Will still has the spot taken.

It's not like it matters. Williams will be on IR and Washington will get his shot. :P

I don't know anymore. Kelly Washington is starting to show that he can be a possesion on guy on 3rd downs. And that he can stretch the field by going long.

I think there will be a healthy mix of both. Neither really the dominant 3rd WR. I do expect to see a lot more 3 WR packages. Unlike last year, where this was non-existent.

How so? Washington has done way better this preseason, caught more passes from Flacco and came off the field with the first unit last night, unlike Williams.

We actually did that last year...we lit up a lot of the weaker defenses (Troy Smith to Flacco for 43 yards is one of my all time favorite plays!); but when we faced a real defense, our offense came to a halt. It wasn't the refs who cost us victories twice against Pitts and the first one against TEN, it was our complete failure to do anything on offense, which was mainly due to not being able to pass the ball effectively.
That's why I don't want us to think everything's okay just because we had one good game in the preseason, because I guarantee we wont light up Pittsburgh or the cheaters or the other tough D's we're going to be facing.

I know a lot of people will think I'm crazy, but it is possible that Washington could overtake the #2 spot if he continues to play so well. And I would be thrilled if that happened, because what this offense needs is consistency, and Clayton doesn't give us that (lets not turn this into another Clayton debate, people...I'm just saying). But what about next year, and the year after? In all reality, this is Mace's swan song, his farewell tour. God bless him, he deserves to retire after this year, but where does that leave us? We'll have Washington and Clayton or Demetrius starting, which is even worse than what we have now.
That's all I'm saying; we need an established WR, doesn't have to be Randy Moss, just someone who gets the job done, no excuses.

I'd say so too - Williams susceptability to injuries has really compromised his chances of holding down that spot.

I'm a little surprised if Washington wasn't being considered for it the entire time. As long as he avoids acting like Freddie Mitchell, he's fine by me.
