Ok, halftime - thoughts? Sorry about my signature causing problems for other users, I won't reactivate it until whatever the problem is is solved.

At the half, Flacco is 17/22 (.773) for 199 yds.

I've got to say I'm pretty happy with the performances all-around so far. I know the Panthers have a few defensive starters out, but there is a lot of good command and control out there on the offensive side of the ball - and defensively, always excellent.

It's also nice to hear the hostile crowd... Makes me happy. :)

Side Notes:

1) DelHomme just makes me nervous when I watch him... he seems so fidgety and rushed.

2) By all that is holy, someone give that back-up TV announcer the name of the Carolina kickers...

I've been watching the game on-again, off-again because we've got my little niece over, but now that she's gone to bed, I'm back!...

So anyway, I'm amazed at how well this Ravens offense has fared against the Panthers defense thus far. Joe Flacco has been on fire tonight. Granted, a little more checkdown throws than I'd like, but with Ray Rice catching those passes, not really hard to complain considering how great he is with the ball in his hands. If Kelley Washington continues to make those occasional clutch receptions, he should fit into the #3 WR slot just fine. He doesn't need to be ultra-productive, but is a serviceable stopgap.

On the defensive side of things, it seems as if Domonique Foxworth is really holding his own thus far against Steve Smith, jawing right back at him and playing physical, holding him to only 2 catches (although one was a huge gain.) To shut down the Panthers offense like this is really a testament to how much these guys have bought into Coach Mattison's extension of Rex Ryan's defense. From what I've seen, very few exotic blitzes and still an effective pass rush.

If I had it my way, I'd just bench the starters right now and throw in the backups to avoid injury, but if they need the extra reps, then so be it. The way I see it, the starters have proven enough tonight to justify putting in the backups, even at the expense of the scoreboard. We could lose this game for all I care, I'm happy with how the starters have played.

It never works out that way, but imagine Joe just doubled those number for 34/44, 398 yards and 2 TD's.

Flacco is playing amazingly well this game. He looks so relaxed and confident it's almost unreal.

So much for Mike Preston saying Flacco is another Boller. Wonder what Mikey is thinking right now?

Yeah so far, the issues I've seen are:

1) Penalties. We need to show more discipline out there. Too many false starts, delay of games, etc.

2) KICKING. I'm not talking about Sam Koch, I'm talking about Hauschka missing a CHIP SHOT kick. I'm really missing Stover right now.

3) Defense is a bit too laid back. Our offense held the ball for 10 minutes in the second quarter, but the defense still gave up a lot of yardage, granted they stopped Carolina from scoring.

The positives far outweigh the negatives in this game though, really hoping it carries over into the regular season. Especially considering we're on the road. Historically the Ravens have dominated at home, but played poorly on the road, particularly against good teams like Carolina.

Wow, 77% completion, nearly 200 yards, a touchdown.

Drafting Flacco was the best thing to happen to this organization since 2000.

Got the site, thanks guys.
