Madden 10 PS3 Online Franchise Thread

You know what killed me a couple times was trying to control a player. I thought it automatically selected the player closest to the ball. Say it was a linebacker to the left of the ball carrier. Id select him and move to the right, but in actuality it selected the safety, so my LB whiffed and I just moved my safety AWAY from the ball carrier and screwed myself. Still trying to figure that out...

While speaking of cheap play. If I play one more person with the Titans that uses Vince young and does nothing but 4wide QB draws and HB screens to Chris Johnson Im gonna scream, lol.

That's why you've got to get into the habit of controlling a player; that's how I got those user picks from you. I didn't control the DB the entire route, you'll notice, but switched after the ball was maybe halfway to the receiver. Switching right-before increases the chances of whiffing on the play, switching too late doesn't work. I can't explain it, it's just an instinctive thing. Or worst-case scenario, I'll just let the CPU defender do its thing while I'm still trying to generate a pass rush. I also generally don't use a linebacker unless I'm comfortable with manually blitzing or dropping them back in a specific area for coverage. I always control a D-Lineman since I figure, if I can generate good enough pressure, the rest will work itself out.

I ususally always play D-line unless Im playing someone who likes to throw screens all the time, then I use a LB. I NEVER play the safety, but Ill tell you, the worst beatdown I ever got on madden was by a guy who played with the FS the whole game, I threw like 10 INTs.

I played a guy online like that and he used the Raider's, everywhere I threw the ball he was there to pick it off! He was killing me with the safety!

I need to start playing on All-Madden again, I think I'm getting too complacent for my own good...

I mean, All-Pro, I still can't completely dominate all 4 quarters, but I always find a way to break the game open and run away with the W. I think I'm getting too comfortable.

Probably the best user-vs-user game I've ever played in Madden 10!...

...but I'm still mad about that Shawn Springs INT return for a TD, lol. I was rolling out the pocket to throw the ball away and it wouldn't let me until it was too late! Damn lame-duck pass animation, lol.

Probably shouldn't have gone to OT since I had threw, like, two near-picks at the end, but my money plays kept me alive once again...though, that TD pass to Justin Harper was admittedly a little lucky since it was a desperation pass, but I'll take it lol.

I hope we didn't jinx our real-life Ravens, though... *cough*

You GOTTA TELL ME, though...when you stuffed McGahee on two consecutive carries for negative yardage I think in the third quarter, was that a gap press blitz by Jerod Mayo, a MLB cross blitz, or a zone blitz? I couldn't tell because of the mass of humanity at the line, lol.

I used the MLB cross blitz i think. I stopped the run pretty much the whole game, you had a few nice runs though.

Note that those runs came in the second half. That's why I never give up on it.

DO teams'ratings change in online franchise like they do in regular online play? B/c ive noticed a CONSIDERABLE dropoff in the performanceof my titans since theyve been losing in real life. Ive tried toplay this gamelike 10 times, and the furthest Ive gone before resetting it was half timeand I was down by 14. I cannot stop MJD.... Collins and Young are about the most inaccurate passers Ive ever seen.

No, teams' ratings don't change in online franchise as the roster updates are released, they change only reflecting how you perform within the franchise (just like offline franchise mode.) So iether you've been playing poorly (no idea, haven't been keeping track), or the Jags are playing much better than expected.

Meanwhile, it looks like I'll extend the deadline through this weekend since this particular user-vs-user game is important; it's a divisional matchup and both guys' postseason hopes could be affected by it later. IF this game can be concluded early enough in the weekend, I might let the Week 5 deadline stand for next Wednesday, but it depends on how quickly everyone can finish once we advance the week. There are NO user-vs-user games in Week 5, but we have another pair of them coming up in Week 6.

I know, I know, J-Man and my buddy are still trying to get coordinated. Their game getting disconnected was a HUGE setback, otherwise, we'd already be in Week 5 or 6 by now.

The absolute worst-case scenario is, if they're unable to get together to arrange a forfeit (if it'll allow them to do that anyway...they've already agreed to one) or do a rematch, then I'll have to advance to Week 5 and the CPU will decide the victor. I know that's unfair, but at the same time, it's one of those things that sadly can't be helped. At least it's early enough in the season where it might not matter.

However, we WILL NOT mess around come playoff time; user-vs-user games WILL be played and it'll go for as long as it needs to go, unless we're all somehow eliminated...lol.

This week is an exception because the one user-vs-user game we're waiting on, is a divisional matchup that could have ramifications later (though not likely). Their first matchup was disconnected because of a bad connection, but they've already mutually agreed to stage a forfeit because it was a one-sided match. I already explained to the two, if they can't get it coordinated by this weekend, I'm advancing the week and letting the CPU decide. Their schedules are in conflict with one another, is the main issue.

Already told J-Man, and after talking it over with my buddy, I'll advance the league tonight and let the CPU decide the winner of that game, just in the interest of keeping the league going. We're already behind and I don't wanna be behind any longer than we have to.

The good news is, this likely won't affect their playoff hopes, assuming they never lose to the CPU. And Marc has the only other NFC team, so this likely won't do anything to affect either guy's chance of earning a wild card spot if they don't win the NFC North.

We're late, but we're now in Week 5!

Good news, J-Man's Vikings ended up beating the Packers in the simulated user-vs-user matchup anyway, so the forfeit was not necessary and everything is right in the world for now. Deadline for Wednesday stands on finishing Week 5, and if we're done earlier, we can rush into Week 6 if desired. No user-vs-user matchups this week, but TWO of them again next week.

I'll see if we can keep the deadline for Wednesday for next week's games. I don't know how prudent that would be, though. I honestly was swamped for the past two weeks because of midterms this week and projects last week.

Alright all, we're in Week 6 now. J-Man and I have a user-vs-user matchup, while McBoller and RavenRage92 play each other as well. Standard Wednesday deadline, as always. We're two weeks behind, but not too bad.

I had to sim because RavenRage92 hasn't been online in a few days, but his Pats remain undefeated against the CPU Broncos in the game, so everything turned out for the best.
