Tyler Thigpen

So rumor has it from www.profootballtalk.com, the Ravens had expressed interest in Tyler Thigpen, if I am mistaking didn't he do pretty well last year for what he had,I believe he also caught a few balls in a wildcat formation. In the long run, is this to get a good back up qb if we do happen to trade one of ours or just all specalation?

Don't see it happening but interesting thought: Who is better Troy Smith or Tyler Thigpen?

He'd be a pretty decent backup QB. Better than John Beck and possibly comparable to (if not better than) Troy Smith as a passer. He's certainly more proven than Smith in the league right now, anyway. (But this isn't a Troy Smith vs. whomever debate right now)

Thigpen had comparable stats to Flacco last season (at least on the surface) and he had to work with far less, but he was unable to win games in the clutch. Thigpen alternated between being a game manager to having the game put on his back, and he usually caved under the pressure (complete opposite of Flacco.)

As a backup, for the right money, I'd be all over signing Thigpen as a free agent. Trading for him is out of the question unless it's a straight-up, player-for-player trade, Beck for Thigpen.

see this is what i been thinking about and if we were to so-call trade troy for the b m words then thigpen would be a pretty good backup

It's PFT and we already have 5 QBs. I wouldn't waste any sleep over it.

I really believe we would be trading Troy Smith if we brought in Thigpen. Thigpen is a pretty darn good QB to be sitting at number 3 with the clipboard. Like Mod 3 said, it's PFT so I will take it with a grain of old bay.

yea but keep in mind some would say thigpen r better than beck lemon willy and possibly even troy

Ok I would say no..... only because we have Joe and a very good back up in Troy but I wouldn't mind getting Thigpen. We would have great depth at QB, Troy and Thigpen who looked great in games he played in KC. Plus also with the possibility out there with Troy either be traded or leaving us to find a team where he can start. I also think Thigpen deserves to find a team to where he can start. We have Joe, Thigpen could be a very good starter and he could turn out very well for another team given a good offensive line and better recievers. I know there is talk that he could go be traded to Jacksonville but I'd much rather see Thigpen be traded to a better team than Jacksonville, maybe St. Louis.
