Will Strange Ravens Preseason Schedule Help Or Hurt?

16 posts in this topic

After the Monday night game, the Ravens have only 5 days to prepare for Carolina on Saturday. Then, with only 4 days off, the Ravens must play Atlanta, on Thursday the 3rd... These 2 short spans between preseason games could handcuff the coaches, who have to finish training, pick the roster, and prepare the team for Opening Day.

Of course, having 9 days off, between the 4th preseason game and WK1 vs. the Chiefs is a big bonus.

Will this strange schedule help or hurt?

I think due to the fact hat the starters will see little or no action in the 4th pre season game, and we will see who will emerge out of atlanta with little preperation and flying by instincts and pure talent, it helps.

i seem to remember an earlier thread about this topic. Thankfully, starters only play briefly in preseason games. The young rookies trying to make the team probably have enough stamina to go the preseason. I agree there is not alot of time between our last two preseason games. I am not particulary concerned about this.

I say Harbaugh shuold rest Vets vs to Carolina and play the Vets and the remainder of team to Atlanta. Preseason means nothing. I say settle down and shoot for 2-2 preseason 4-0 Preseason is a curse. I never heard of an undeafeated preseason team goes to the playoffs. Lions went 4-0 last year went 0-16 in regalar season.

You play your starters the 3rd preseason game to give them more time to rest. every team does it. The coaches aren't concerned with what our record is in preseason but how we played in those games. The Vets will play probably a whole half on Saturday so prepare to see Flacco play a half and Smith/Beck play a half.

We're used to strange schedules, especially after Hurricane Ike devastated the Houston area causing us to go the whole year without a Bye.

Helps tremendously preseason is here to help evaluate what we don't know. That also means that we get extra time before our first game to game plan.

I am pretty sure we went 4-0 in the pre season when we won the superbowl. but dont quote me on it.

Yep against the eagles, jets, panthers, and giants
I went  when I saw we beat the Jets and Panthers the year we won the superbowl....it's like fate man, all we gotta do is beat the panthers at least

Thats cool, I had forgot all about going 4-0 when we won the superbowl, but I knew we did have 3 straight seasons with undeafted Pre-seasons. We missed the playoffs in 98 and 99, then won the superbowl.

Irrelevant, this team isn't phased by things like this. When it's time to take the field our players play tough football.

Also, this is preseason, a lot of these guys are auditioning, and will be playing most of the 3rd and 4th games. I don't see this affecting our starters in the least.

I forgot that nugget of truth. Puts a different spin on the whole Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason last year and didn't win a game.

I hate that whole argument about the Lions preseason wins last season. People forget that the Lions in 2007 came storming into the season. Winning 6 of their first 8 games. Kitna was on fire. They started the 2008 season with Kitna and won their preseason games. But then injuries really took a toll on them.

I thought the same thing. I was grocery shopping and buying stuff for a home game finally instead of racking my brain what to take for "cold" tailgate for a change.
