Looks like steelers fans are noticing how we didn't 'take a step back' like all the analysts are saying but look even better then last year. ;)

I am as confident in our abilities as anyone but lets not get cocky about it. Its just the preseason. Until we look good when it really matters, we havent done anything impressive or worth mentioning.

Have to say, those guys over there seem like a knowledgeable, reasonable crew. They give credit where it's due, and talk up their team without coming off as arrogant.
Although I disagree with the point he was attempting to make, I especially liked the one poster who broke down all 15 run plays, giving the yardage gained on each play, and where the run went.

Like I've always said to myself and fellow football watchers, you must have a mutual respect for how the Steelers and the Ravens play football. It's not the prettiest games in the world but if you are a fan of either team or good quality football that's going to be close, watch these two teams.

I don't think fans are scared but just have an understanding that we are getting better and that's where the football fan comes in.

I wanted the Ravens to pound the Jets last night but I loved the way that Leon Washington was running in that game. It's football season. You have to love it!

I believe will will split the games this year, I would like to think each team gets their home game this year. I am very confident in Flacco leading this offense and the defense getting the kinks worked out before the Cheifs come to town.

I only saw a couple guys giving credit...the rest were like the other typical steeler fan whose cocky/over confident and think they can beat any team in the league 99 times outta 100

I'm sure can be siad about a lot of us Ravens fans. I mean most people here thing we have the best backup QB in the league and he hasn't even proven that.

You have the same amount of knowledgable fans in Pittsburgh as Baltimore. I'm sure they have the same amount of fans that think being negative about everything makes them realist. So you r gonna find some A-holes in every group.

I hate the Steelers. However I don't hate them just because I live in Baltimore, I hate them because I respect the way they play the game. They play like us and we play will them. Its a thin line between respect and hate and I cross it twice a year.

As for them being scared. I say no, the games have to be played. That would be the same as us being scared over all the Bengals hype. Are any Ravens fans scared of them being the surprise team?

Like it or not the Steelers set the standard in the Divison. We have the talent to overtake this divison, but until we do, they are top dog.
The Steelers are the defending champs, so they will get everyones best shot every week. So for those fans that might be nervous over our preseason performance, I'd tell them to get thicker skin because they will see much better perfomances once the season stars.

I showed a lot of respect to the Steelers in this post, so I'll finish up by saying this....

You Bet Your Sweet ****** I Hate The Steelers.

I can't believe a Steeler fan is complaining about not getting enough love from commentators, when all they do during Steeler games is talk about how good the Steelers are and almost root for them during games.

When they catch wind of this watch the retractions.

It's quite weak really, scanning back and forth between boards. I suppose it makes for amusement and debate now and again.

I do love how Flacco is a one year wonder when he put up similar numbers compared to Roethlisburger in his first season other then TD ratio. Go check it out it is fairly funny though because Roethlisburger faced the same criticism his first year as well.

You have to respect the steelers, we are there little brother. Like it or not, we have become to play, draft and do everything there way. When we drafted Oher this year, it was because they was thinking of James Harrison will wreck havoc if we dont draft a better tackle.

The Steelers and Ravens are now the Best rivelery in the NFL, its no secret. They thumped us last year and now this year we are out to prove a point. It's just like in 2006 when we destroyed them in both games. They came back the next year(2007) and took advantage on our poor beat up injured team, and there was no stopping them, they was out for payback.

The Steelers suck anyways, i'll take my beatings they put on us last year and come back to give them something better this year.Pull a 2006 on them :D

Their OL was suppose to be a joke last year...but they protected Ben pretty well during our 3 games..and then when they didn't Ben looked like Michael Vick scrambling away from our defenders..

But back to the fans

till this day I have not seen a fanbase with more Cockier fans than the Steelers...in any sport...maybe it's just me

I love how Steeler fans talk about winning those games like the won all three of them 35-0. It didn't really go down like that. In the First game the Ravens dominated the game except for the third quarter, when an obvious TD gets called no good and JJ takes a penalty by shoving Ward out of bounds that changed the momentum in the Steelers favor. If the Ravens had been given that second TD that Flacco thew to Mason they would have won. Either way the Ravens still came back and put the game into OT. Not NEARLY a beat down by any stretch of the imagination. The second game was closer, but the Ravens were out playing the Steelers right up until that last minute TD drive (I blame Rex Ryan's prevent defense for that one) The playoff game the Steelers deserved to win, but the Ravens found a way to stick around and have a chance with a few minutes left. I just don't see where Steeler's fans get off BRAGGING about that sweep so much when they got outplayed 2 out of the three times.

Why is it weak? Most people would like to know what others think of them and it carries over to being a fan of a sport and wanting to know what their rival fans think of their team. And it's even better when you read that they respect your team. It's natural, not weak.

As for the topic, I don't think the Steelers' fans are scared of the Ravens. I think many of them respect the team, and that's good. Many Ravens' fans respect the Steeler team.

Mutual respect between two good teams and their fans. It's a good thing.

They said it best during the game on Monday. Harbaugh pointed out about 5 minutes over all three games we lost to them where we lost focus and it cost us the game. The first one that comes to mind is the sack, fumble recovery, and touchdown by Harrison in the first game. There are certainly others but the point is with a rookie coach, rookie QB, and following a disastrious season they should have been a bit more dominating. They weren't because they weren't that much better last year than us.

When you look at the offseason, they lost key depth at WR, DB, and LB. While their starters remain strong, they were very luckly in the injury deparment last season. Its doubtful they will have that sort of luck 2 years in a row and this time they won't have solid players to fill in. It is also doubtful their rookie class will make much impact. Then you look at us. We gain so much without even doing anything by getting guys back from injury (Gregg, Landry, Williams). Then you have the Flacco factor. We could, and I expect will, be a much better team simply because Joe is a much better player than he was last year. Roethlisberter is a great QB but you sorta know what you get from him. I don't see him suddenly becoming Peyton Manning. At this point, the sky is the limit with Flacco.

Add to all that the difficulty of repeating in this league and you bet the Steeler fans are anxious whether they will admit to it or not.

Not just Flacco improving. All of our offensive line too. And imo the reason why we lost all three games was because of the immaturity and inexperience of our young players. We won't be caught in the same situations twice. And if Flacco just doesn't throw a million interceptions, then I would be scared if I was the Steelers

The thing you have to remember is that many Steeler fans just jumped on the bandwagon in February. They don't know the history, even the recent history, of that team as well as some of us do.

While I do agree that they weren't that much better than us, as the scores of the first two games attest, I disagree with some of things you said.

Twenty of their twenty-two starters are returning this year. If we can say that the Ravens can replace defensive players, the same benefit of the doubt must be given to Pittsburgh since they too have a consistently dominant defense.
I don't know if you can say that the Steelers were lucky in the injury department when Willie Parker missed much of the season and their first round draft pick lost a battle with Ray Lewis, causing them to finish with the 23rd rushing team in the NFL. Sure, they weren't as unlucky as we were, but few teams (perhaps only Jax) were.

Steeler fans know that they have a Super Bowl winning team nearly entirely intact and that they will be facing a much easier schedule than last year. They have the confidence of knowing that their team will most likely reach the playoff without much effort. We all know that it hard to repeat, but I'm not seeing any reason why they should be particularly anxious. (At least not until they reach the playoffs, but that is another story.)

In fact, I hope they all have the "We deserve a break" outlook so we can steamroll by them when they're not expecting it.

We usually can't run on each other tho. I think we'll split and the combine score of both games will be around 20 or 23. lol

I'll admit I know little about the Steeler depth. All I know is the backup guys I know are now starting or playing key roles. Its a bunch of no names after that. We'll just have to see how it goes.

As for the injuries, you're right the offense had some losses but the defense had none. Thats where my point about lack of known depth at linebacker and DB will come into play. Also, my point about the Steeler lack of injuries is also meant as a comparison to Raven injuries. We had by far the most players on IR (don't remember the exact number) of any playoff team last year and even with a rookie coach/QB we played you tough.

I just can't wait til week 12!

Well, the Steeler fans might be "scared', but rest assured, the players aren't. Unfortunately, that's all that matters! I'm expecting the same hard hitting, epic battles again this year.
