I loved Kelly Washingtons enthusiasm! I didnt see any of the harper catches, but i think the stats was like 2 receptions for 62 yds? Not bad for guys that would be backups or they wouldnt see alot of time with 2 receiver sets. I really hope we open up the field and bring these guys in when the regular season comes along

He had one really nice deep catch that got us out of our own 5 yards, he did a great job keeping his hands down until the last minute; the Jets DB had no idea where the ball was until Harper swallowed it up.

I doubt we will pick up Stover and if we don't I really think that Haushka has won the battle. Gano missed the FG last week and this week.
I mean no offense to either Hauschka or Gano, but I don't understand why we didn't bring Matt Stover back this season. According to baltimoresun.com, he is "the third-most accurate field-goal kicker in NFL history." They also reported on August 16th that he is staying in shape, "isn't retiring," and is waiting for a call.

It's all fine and good if the Ravens want to give some new guys a chance to shine, but please, let's bring Stover back when we start the regular season? He is THE original Raven - still with us after all of these years. Through all of the seasons good and bad Stover has been a reliable kicker. I am pretty psyched about this upcoming season. Our defense seems reliably as good as usual, we may finally have the quarterback we need to really make a great offense with. This could be a great season, let's not gamble with our kicking in a new kicker. Last season wasn't Matt's best, but I don't think it was an indication that he's over the hill. I say if he still wants to play, let's keep going with what works.

Bring Stover back PLEASE!

I thought he had retired! In my mind, surely that was the only reason we let him go!

What is with the ravens and picking up coaches who are renowned for one thing Billick : Offense and Harbaugh : Special Teams, and them having no impact in that area. We are going to lose A LOT of games if these teams keep getting the ball within our territory.

Also we might as well also put L.J smith on IR now as he got hurt just running a route. And what the hell is with Oniel Cousins? He is terrible every time our offense is out there and you see a flag it is a holding on him.

I'll give troy the benefit of the doubt as that second team O-Line was absolutely atrocious and did not even benefit McGahee one bit in trying to earn his starting position back.

Other then that Ravens D was pretty good but we are still having trouble taking down backs that go to the flats.

My absolute favorite part though was Joe Flacco in the pass game. He may have been 8/18 but a majority of those passes were consecutive plays where the DB's were backed off to defend it. He is starting to look like a QB who can throw accurately anywhere on the football field.

By the way why is Frank Walker and Evan Oglesby still here? They can't cover anyone.

My advice to you would be is to watch the games closer and stay away from making game analysis posts until you understand what you are watching.

I don't understand you.

The Jets started in our territory off PR/KR over 4 or 5 times which is a huge problem. Jets don't even have a high powered offense and capitalized on this. Maybe you would agree on this if Gano didn't save us by bringing down Leon after he stumbled for a second. They almost brought it back first KR.

L.J Smith was in for about one play and hurt himself without contact.

Troy was decent for a secondary O-Line that couldn't hold a block. Quite frankly I was impressed that McGahee could even get 1 positive carry off with there shenanigans.

Ravens D was pretty good like I said the flats need to be covered better and please stuff the running back when they go up the middle. There is no reason our front 7 should be man handled like that.

Joe Flacco had a great game like I said but his stats were a bit on the downside because we didn't establish the run game first, and some times he would pass 3 times straight.

And if you even watched the game would would have saw how terrible Frank Walker was, I am pretty sure everything was spot on.

Harper impressed again, Mason did what was expected, Washington was another great target who let a good pass get away from him, and lastly D-Will who pretty much fought for every yard.

Was i the only not impressed with Haloti Ngata tonight??

yes he was fantastic on his pic six play and the hit that forced the other INT but he over pursued the screen play just to hit the jets guy and also got pancaked which never happens lol, he was good in stages but he just didnt seem himself tonight. Maybe im just lloking into him to much but he just didnt seem able to hold up blocks tonight. I was dissapointed with him although even a Ngata perfoemance of 2night is better than 95% of the DT's in the league

Offense - Joe Flacco, where the stats great, hell no, but man did he play well, threw some amazing deep balls and showed great touch on most of his throws, he overthrew Ray Rice twice for what would of been a huge gain but he played amazing. He got hit a lot and just got back up as if nothing had happened and threw another rifle. Was impressed with his pocket poise and accuracy on his throws, he could be special

Defense - Jameel mcClain and Fabs/Foxy
First of i think McClain should start at linebacker this year. I dont care about Tavares being the incumbent and everything, McClain is hands down playing better than Tavares. if the ravens roll with a 3-4 i want Jameel starting, if they run a 4-3 i want jameel on there as much as possible. He was so good tonight, when he got beat by washington it was Ayanbadejo that confused him. McClain had his zone, then ayan changed and mcclain was out of position, it seemed like Ayanbadejo's fault. even though he got beat he threw his arm out in desperation which i loved and his instincts seem truly incredible.

And give major pros to Fabs and Foxy tonight. You could say the ravens defense was great or sanchez was just bad but with the lack of pass rush we showed (besides one or two instances)the corners did a great job. You didnt even hear there names and that means they where locking down there guys. Was very impressed with both

Was also impressed with Barnes again, that guy can rush the passer so well

Chris Chester didn't play especially well in my opinion.
I found it interesting that Yanda played this game and Chester got the start over him. I guess, Harbs is trying make Yanda earn his spot back. If thats the case, I wouldnt worry about Chester having that spot much longer. Yanda's got a mean streak and he's going to get that job back.

Is it just me or does lardarius Webb look a lot bigger than 5'10

I thought that, but I think it's because he's so thin, he looks lanky.

He was having trouble during kickoffs and opponents were starting at the 25 yard line

I don't really see Stover coming back. He struggled from 40 yards last year, so presumably he'll struggle from 35 this year. That's really not good enough in this league.

I thought so too, Gruden called him a 'big corner' at one stage also.

I will add my two cents and I thought Flacco looked very good. He had sharp, lazer passes and moved out of the way of DL to create more time for himself. Rice ran the ball very hard and looked like a number 1 RB. Mason is a savior since he came back from retirement and looked good too. O-line blocked very well.

The negative are the corners still need work. If a team like New England plays the Ravens, Tom Brady will sred the Ravens secondary. Also the 2nd stringers looked bad and I guess thats why they are back ups. Jets were able to move the ball against them at ease at times it seemed.
Special teams, punt and kick return coverage needs to get better. Too many returns taken into Ravens half of the field.

Again my two cents..

But, that Jets defense looked a lot like the Ravens. For example, blitzing 9 players. Rex may not be calling the plays, but he influences the plays. And I didnt think their defense looked bad, they did give up a long touchdown drive, but other then that the pressured Flacco, and stop so runs.
The announcers mentioned that Rex actually WAS calling the defensive plays.

Sure did, and not only that, but the announcers announced it and gave a quick replay, which I loved.

Anyone notice that the Ravens were getting more love than the Jets from the ESPN announcers? In ALL aspects of the game. For the Jets they were only talking about Rex and Bart Scott, for us, they mentioned TONS of our players and had a lot of positives to chime in with.

Well, they are used to filling gaps, not getting penetration.

Other then the outstanding play of Haloti I was not happy with much of anything else about last nights game. We will not make it very far in the post season with the way we played last night. I mean we still have issues at so many areas that it's not even funny. Thank GOD it's only pre-season

Flacco looked great. It's definitely different seeing the Ravens calling so many pass plays. You can notice a difference between Sophmore and Rookie season Flacco. He used to dance in the pocket and dump the ball as soon as he could. Now he stands up, avoids pressure and steps in to his throws. His biggest problem throwing to Rice is he's so short. A lot of his passes to Rice are too far ahead of him or too high. But his passes to Washington are ON the money.

It was a beautiful night to be at the game. I was sitting in the endzone where we stopped the two point conversion. Awesome. Nice to see that there was plenty of energy left in the crowd with a few seconds left.

Positives:
1) First Team (O&D) all played well. We really got into Sanchez's head. After a while, they just stopped throwing the ball period. It was like they didn't want to pull him to early (confidence, image), but they didn't want him to throw the ball either.

2) Blocking everywhere just sucked.
2) Missed Tackles
3) 2nd team just dropped off the face of the earth.

Ok people let's take a step back, and a deep breath. I have a feeling that a lot of you are disappointed because you wanted to see another 23-0 domination. That's fine except that I don't think anyone is giving the Jets any credit here for being a very solid football team with decent depth. Considering that, I'd say that I'm happy with the starters going out with the score at 21-7. Flacco looked great to me, He only two throws that could have been better but other than that he was accurate, got rid of the ball when he needed to,didn't turn it over, didn't force any throws, and he threw a few deep balls beautifully, also made a nice run that got called back on Birk's holding penalty. The defense looked great, although Suggs' absence is clearly visible. Again, the Jets have a very solid O-line, but we got enough pressure on Sanchez to force him into some terrible throws, Clemens as well. As far as RB's go, I knew it was going to be a tough day for them because the Jets D is tough but I think that both Rice and Mcgahee had a good game, Mcgahee even had a pretty impressive run last night. I won't say that anyone had a career night, but I wasn't really disappointed with exception to the 2nd string O-line. remember that there was a very tough football team on the other side of the ball last night as well. let's not panic just yet.

You are exactly right. We put good pressure and if Lewis catches that other interception then it should have been 28 to 7. And teams don't really watch tape for preseason so I imagine we weren't prepared for Leon Washington. Or at least that's what I'm hoping. Our starters did very well though.
