The Defense vet players throw you in a tub full of water with ice. How would you like that welcome? ME?? I rather be tied to the goal post then be thrown in a tub of water full of ice.

So you're saying you prefer to be tied up by a bunch of guys? Well, to each his own I suppose...

All kidding aside, I've seen a few different initiation ceremonies and if you come out of the ordeal with most of your body hair and mostly conscious, you're good to go.

Every teams vets have a certain way of initiating the rookies to the team, I like the Ravens one. sounds funny and like a great way to chill off after a practice.

I think thats one underlying reason why Troy Smith wants out, he was seriously angry about the hazing.

I do know that the team all goes out to dinner before the opening day and orders all kinds of food like stuff they know they won't eat and bottles of expensive wine and then when the bill comes they makes the first round pick pay for the check and the person has no idea until the bill comes and it's thousands of dollars. I heard last year Flacco was in disbelief when he got the bill Lol!

Hazing is pretty immature.

It's all in good fun...although Im sure you'd be a bit annoyed if ya had a rough practice and had to deal with that.
I do remember hearing about Troy Smith being mad about it though.

Hazing is an age old tradition in sports, college and the military (and in some career fields). Been around forever.

Rookies paid their dues in college to be on the team, that is unnecessary as no one benefits from these acts.

They all get it done to them at some point. Just pay your dues and get the rookies back the following year.

Everyone has their opinion on hazing, I personally think it's unneeded, I mean how does throwing someone in ice water make them more loyal to the team, in reality it hurts the camaraderie. I guess the intention is getting players to a point where they will do anything for the benefit of the team, which is unrealistic. Jim Schwartz, Lions coach, was on PTI saying that he banned hazing within his team and I think that's a great idea for a young team like that
...right?

But Hazing in the Military should be banned. Like what the Naval academy does to their plebes. Plebes are ordered to clean up Midshipmens tables after meals.

That is the last thing they would be complaining about... trust me.

Anyway, I'm for the hazing... it's all in good fun. Plus, you better believe Troy Smith was also 1 of the guys who had the MOST fun hazing other people. No one enjoys getting picked on. Pay your dues to the veterans, your time will come.

Note - haha do you guys think they tied up Oher?

Peyton Manning like his hazing. The vets put Ben gay down his Jock straps and the Vets were laughing as they watch Manning get dressed. Then moments later Manning didnt feel comfortable and then it burned him he took off his uniform everything he had and rushed to the shower vets were laughing hard

That sounds like SOP or Air Force hazing to me. You don't want to know what the Marines do.

There is a bond formed among the hazers and the hazee... there is a period of anger and irritation aferwards, but it generally brings the men closer.

I liken it to when I was a boy, my best friends were guys that I hd a good fight with first, those men I would trust with my life.

Guys who either wouldn't fight, or played nice were te ones who ended up turning on me or could not be relied on.

only an opinion, and anecdotal at that,
The 2011 Ravens Defense could be the best we have ever seen... at least through week 1

Hazing is fun and games for some people, for others who feel they have paid their dues for some basic peer respect its degrading.
