Mason Honors Mcnair In Practice

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- When Ravens veteran wide receiver Derrick Mason decided to briefly retire last month, the murder of his close friend and former teammate Steve McNair was a major factor in that decision.

Mason announced his retirement days after attending McNair's funeral and memorial service in Nashville, Tenn. McNair was shot to death by his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, who then committed suicide.

Now that Mason is back with the Ravens, the two-time Pro Bowl receiver plans to honor the memory of the former Tennessee Titans and Ravens quarterback by wearing McNair

I was thinking this today. I think it would be a nice gesture. I can see maybe why some people wouldn't like this, but if Derrick would want to do this for a fallen friend, we should stand behind him. However, he would have to get special permission from the league to wear #9.

They said it was just for practice, he will wear 85 for games. True show of class though.
