Hello Ravens Fans!

4 posts in this topic

First of all I want to wish you all the best of luck in the up comming season and I believe the Ravens will have a great year and suprise everyone with a high scoring offense. McGahee, Rice & McLain are a great combo.

Ok, I wanted to ask you guys/gals a few questions in regards to Madden 10. I think the Ravens are underrated and I use them as my main team.

I use a 3-4 and Run Heavy play book. With the 3-4 I use a few plays based on what I think the Offense will do, CB dogs, Cover 2, Cover 3, Renegade (rarely), DE Contain, QB Contain and modify pre snap, for example if there is no TE on the left or right I will blitz and OL, depending on the situation, I am now very comfortable with my Defensive stick skill and play calling skill, even though I have lost 30 games!

Offense, I stay in the I-Form and set all my audibles in the same form, so making predictability very low. Running the ball is very easy for me and I love to grind it out, passing I keep it short mostly and that is Flacco's strength in the game.

Highly enjoyable game this version.

So my question is to you Raven fans, can you please talk in detail of what playbooks you use with the ravens, what plays and what audible you use as well as how you are going.

I am very interested in learning how other Ravens users play Madden 10.

Thank you!

I keep the Baltimore Ravens playbook, I think it's cheap to change playbooks (in my opinion).

As for plays, I keep it simple. For passes, I mix up slant routes with Mason and Clayton over the middle (occasionally I'll add Williams in as well, mostly for 3rd and long), with short dump routes to Heap and Smith. As I said in another thread, I find some good success with a HB Slip Screen to McGahee.

For runs, I use alot of I-Form, mostly towards the tackles. However, my success with these is mixed. Pitches and outside runs work occasionally as well. I've burned some 55+ TD runs using strong pitch, using the right stick to switch the side of the run to where I see less cover by linebackers.

For defense, I'll run alot of Cover 2 and 3 out of the Nickel on passing downs and WR heavy formations. Depending on the player, CB Dogs is thrown in there. I have a few people who get very flustered by the speedy team of Foxworth and Washington closing in on the quickly, which results in bad throws. Crossfire 3 is handy for me. Ngata, Pryce, Gooden, and Lewis can usually get into the backfield forcing more bad passes (depending on the player) or stuffing the run.

Truth be told, I mix in alot of different blitzes on defense. MLB (LB Storm 3, MLB Cross Fire, MLB Storm Blitz) mostly, with CB (CB Blitz, Wide Blitz, CB Dogs Blitz) and OLB (Trio Man Whip, OLB Dogs Fire, OLB Fire Man) close behind. Plays like Renegade, Engage Eight, and All-Out Blitz, I use sparingly. The obvious run downs, and every now on the when I have the offense back in range for a safety (usually only if the other player gets spooked by blitzes to force a INT for a potential pick 6 or if they linger in the pocket long for the safety.

I used to like Cover 2 Sink alot. However, if the offense is smart and picks up on that, short dump offs towards the side lines burn you like nothing else. Running a few Cover 3's keeps that in check though.

All in all, it's pretty successful for me. Friend of mine is a Pitts fan, so every year we play a ton of games Ravens/Steelers. He was burning me with the short dump offs to Miller and Parker. Cover 3 and Cover 3 Flat shut him down to the sides, forcing him to throw off over the middle. He's one that gets spooked by CB blitz also. So in the last two games where I was using alot of Cover 3 on him. I won 24-0 both times. I had 4 picks in the first game, and 6 in the second game (4 Reed, one a pick six. 2 Washington, one a pick 6, 2 Landry. 2 Lewis.)
