Marshall is a crybaby, and wont fit in with the Ravens mentality. I thought I wanted this guy too, now he just seems like a liability

It's hard to say, really.
I definitely understand the concern around his attitude/off field issues. I know I'd be concerned about it.

But on the other hand, he is a 25 year old kid who is still growing and maturing as a person. The positive influence of men like Derrick Mason, Ed Reed, etc shouldn't be overlooked either. One thing that the Ravens organization can always be proud of is that the Ravens represent the city of Baltimore with class and dignity. That will never change, Marshall or no Marshall.

That said, from what coach said a few days ago, it doesn't sound like we're too interested in him anyway.

Im not saying the guy cant change, Moss did. And im not saying hes a bad player, I just dont want all the drama coming here. Is he going to start whining when Mason gets the majority of catches? I know he wants out of there, and Im sure his agent is influencing him a bit too, it just seems lame.

Marshall didn't travel with the team to their preseason game against Seattle. The writing is on the wall, he has become a cancer. He is probably being sized as we speak for a purple and black #15, I hope Kelly Washington has a back up number. In all seriousness, this would be a huge pick-up for the Ravens and would be the best offense we have ever assembled. Between the RB's, the tackles, and a Marshall-infused receiving corps, we would have the potential to be a dominant OFFENSE and DEFENSE.

Marshall is also claiming he didn't ask for more money, just wants to be traded.
If thats the case, he is coming here, no doubt in my mind.

I would like to see Marshall here, but I can't see it happening. I just have a feeling that Denver wants too much for him.

It's not the case, Marshall is just mad because he has to sit on his rookie contract. He's not coming here, if that was the case, he'd already be in purple..

I don't think Marshall is coming to Baltimore but him and the organization need to move on. They left him in Denver the other night and didnt take him to the preseason game even though he wasn't injured. He lashed out wednesday on the organization also. He will end up somewhere either now or before the trade deadline. But it wont be Baltimore.

This is again proof of how inept the Baltimore Sun is, especially as it pertains to Mike Preston. I guess sales hit another all time low for the paper and they needed a boost so they put out a made up story.

Why people even bother to read the Sun and visit its website let alone post about anything they make up over there is beyond me.

I def. wanted Marshall over Boldin but I am not sure how much I really want Marshall for what we'd have to give up. The only reason, I am still open to it is because there are two sides to every story, Marshall is saying one thing, the Bronco's another, and the media a variation of both depending on who they are selling to. No, one knows whats really going on except Marshall and the Bronco's.

I hate this arguement for a few reasons:

1) Marshall is a grown man, not some 15 or 16 year old kid, and he has to WANT to change, in order for another guy to have an influence on him.

2) What makes you think Mason, Reed, and Lewis want to spend their time trying to help this guy get past his demons?

3) I think guys like Champ Bailey, John Lynch, Rod Smith and many other postive guys who played with him in Denver, would and SHOULD take offense to your insinuation that they are not good enough leaders to have a positive impact on a young man's life. Its not like this guy is with the Bengals or Cowboys, a team with a ton of crooks. He's with the Bronco's, one thing they are not known for is having a poor locker room.

On another note, Foxworth played with this guy in Denver. I'd loved to get his take on him.

Makes you almost wonder if thats one of the reasons management has shied away from obtaining him. You would think if Foxworth had good things to say that management would have pulled the trigger...or attempted to obtain him more vigorously and it would have leaked to the press.

This rumour sure has been drawn out. I think if something was going to happen, it would have by now. Denver clearly wants too much for him, or simply doesn't want to trade him period. I've never thought it was a wise move to keep a highly disgruntled player - so I suppose it is still very feasible for him to be traded somewhere - but surely this whole charade plus the multiple legal issues he has had are offputting to any potential suitors.

Any new word from the front office on him? I think that he would be an ideal WR for us. Mason has been and still is a great possesion type guy for us, add to that a REAL bonafied deep threat and our offense is much better than it ever has been. Sure the guy has off the field issues, but how many players have had the same and come to baltimore and been great? Isnt that why suggs feel so far when we drafted him??? I think that Williams, harper and clayton are good but not great and i would rather have someone who i knew was going to be good as opposed to someone that i was just optomistic about. I would give up a 1st and 4th, or 2nd and 3rd pick for him. Just wondering if Ozzie and John are giving this any thought, because god knows the Bronco's would take a good deal for him right now.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. This is his first post.

As you can see this topic has been beaten to death. Personally, I think it's very unlikely that the Ravens are even looking at Marshall anymore (especially since Mason is back). Plus Denver probably won't get rid of him either.

Look for someone like David Tyree as the possible candidate to make our team at the end of the day.

Ugh...ANOTHER wr thread. *shoots self in head*

I think marylandwins must be a second screen name for someone on the board who wants to ask about he who shall remain nameless, but can't bring him/herself to create another thread on said player out of fear of reprisal.

first off I'm doing what PUraven said in giving you the benefit of the doubt, but for future reference can you search a topic before you create it? but no, you might be willing to give up those picks, but I think ozzie would much rather have those 2 picks. Not to mention what ever the bronco's were going to take for marshall to begin with probably has now gone up since the release of cutler.... they can't afford to make another huge boneheaded move. Next, if we do end up signing somebody like marshall, are you prepared to lose someone like ngata, or gaither, positions that you actually NEED elite players at?

So if you are asking if there is any chance at us getting him..... anything is a possibility... will we actually do it.... most likely not (like 95% chance we won't)

Well Marshall just got suspended today because of how he's been acting in Denver, it's starting to make me really glad we don't have him.

Bad attitude trumps talent. Anyone not willing to learn the playbook (his admission) of the team already paying his salary under a contract he agreed to and (presumably) makes a mockery of his team and the NFL is not worth the risk, even if Denver gave him to us for nothing!

If he is so unhappy with his current contract , why did he sign it?

He is never coming here and at this point, the eve of the 3rd preseason game, I am not sure if he would be of any value to the team this year anyway.

It's bad to see ANY player doing this. Look at Joshua Cribbs, even though he wants and DESERVES a contract extension, the guy is still suiting up and playing (even though he may holdout.) The same with Julius Peppers. Dude wants a long term deal but signed his tender and is player.

Some people need to understand what they are doing to their image and reputation.
