I guarantee you someone will sign him. Copy the link to this message, take a pic if you have to, or post it on your fridge. Our front office wants Troy here as a back up but they know keeping him around is only going to bring the locker room drama and fan drama of who should be QB, Flacco or Smith. I see the Vikings, Rams or the 49ers going for him maybe even Denver.
There might be fan drama with keeping Troy, but i am willing to bet you there isn't gonna be any drama in that Lockerroom. I can't promise, but i don't see one player(even Troy) that will make a fuss over the guy that led us to the AFC Championship game in his rookie year being the QB of this team.

Flacco is the QB of this team and Franchise, it will be that way for a long time, barring injury. Fans might be delusional enough to think that Troy Smith should be the QB of this team but i don't think the Ravens will allow "Fan Drama" to dictate the personell of this team.

As for the rumor, i really don't care. If it happens it happens. If not then lets get ready for this season, because with or without Brandon Marshall this will be a special season for the Baltimore Ravens.

IMO neither Troy or DWill is untradeable. Would you hate to see either of them go? Yes, but in all honesty trading both Troy and Dwill, along with a 3rd rounder is a steal for Brandon Marshall. So trading one or the other would be an even bigger steal.

I'm glad that people have not lost all interest with the Marshall stories, considering that the rift between him and the McD regime is only getting wider. If we could get this done for Troy Smith and a 2nd rounder I think it would be a horrible decision not to pull the trigger.

Troy Smith is a great backup, and if not for the emergence of Flacco, I would be happy to have him as my starter. BUT, we're in a better situation than that, and every Baltimore fan knows it, and Smith knows it. He could certainly oust Orton in Denver, and we all know that, though he continues to say the right things about "learning" and playing his part, the guy wants to start because he is a competitor and has a history of bodacious success with OSU.

In terms of Marshall, let's be honest - he is an elite receiver. He has better than decent speed (no Jayson Foster ;) ) and waaay better than average size. For a young quarterback who throws with such velocity, he would be impossible for corners to get around to try and swat balls down. He is a great red zone target and has surer hands than every Raven except Mason, but is a MUCH EASIER TARGET TO HIT. I like that Harper and DWill and the rest are coming along, but this Ravens team can win, and it can win now.

Why not add a young receiver (25!!) who can be with Flacco for his whole career? If we brought him in, I believe that a deal could be struck for significantly less than Roddy White's. In terms of cap room, we would be fine this year, and we could trim the defense and cut expensive non-factors (Clayton) considering that our depth on defense is unprecedented in this league.

The Ravens shouldnt trade for Marshall. I for one dont want to invest in a player with his history. The Ravens really dont have the money to invest in an established veteran wr which is what held up this deal before and the Boldin deal. I would rather take that money and invest in Ngata and gaither.

Second that. There is more to winning than having an "elite" receiver. I would take character first for three reasons: T.O. in San Francicco, T.O. in Phila and T.O in Dallas. How many rings does T.O. have? Marshall? Boldin? Everyone says Flacco is the franchise QB of the future. After one year? Do we bet the farm on that or that he does not get an injury by trading away the only other QB who knows the system? Chasing after "superstars" with childish demands and bad character is not the way to win. It's not the Ravens Way.

Bravo! Very well said. The Ravens can and will win with the current personell. We aren't talking about the Patriots or Colts or Cowboys ect, we are talking about the Baltimore Ravens. This team wins by controlling the clock, running the ball, keeping opposing offenses off the field and imposing their will on the opponents late in the game. The Ravens Offense starts and ends with the O-Line not WR's. It's looking like the Raven's O-line could be pretty dominant this season, opening holes for one of the best backfields in the NFL, allowing Flacco more time to find his receivers and freeing up our two very talented TE's to catch passes as well. Adding a WR won't beat Pittsburgh, Arizona had Fitzgerald and Boldin with Kurt Warner throwing to them and THEY couldn't beat Pittsburgh. We will beat Pittsburgh by protecting the football, playing solid defense, and being the stronger tougher team. Do we NEED Brandon Marshall? no.

You cant guarantee squat. There has been not one team who has shown interest in him, this year or last year. The guy won the Heisman trophy and still diddnt interest anybody. Smith really is a class act and know's his chance will come, but to say these teams will go for him is just plain far-fetched. If anybody was interrested in him to be there starter they would have proposed to trade a while ago.
I agree completely, but that kinda ticks me off because Troy is a much much much better person in terms of character than Leinart and Young, and Troy understands his role and embraces it. I don't see him lobbying for a trade in the upcoming future. So far Smith > Leinart > Young easily

More trade rumors with Denver heating, this time via Warren Sapp's Twitter account (from another source.) Allegedly, the Broncos are reaching out to Tyler Thigpen, Troy Smith, or Drew Stanton as options because of the shaky QB situation.

Keep in mind, however, the validity of the rumor is in question, IMO, because the tweet came to Sapp via some random account, who also tweeted this to Chad Ochocinco and Drew Rosenhaus' accounts.

More than likely, no trade happens. But I also could see Ozzie catching everyone off guard and pulling something off. I couldn't imagine it being Marshall or Boldin, but it sure would be nice.

Like I said towards the end of the Michael Vick "sweepstakes," I don't care anymore what Ozzie does at this juncture because the season's already almost here and I just want football back.

Ozzie could go get Terrell Owens or Philip Rivers for all I care -- and I'd hate having either one of them as Ravens (for my own reasons.) I'm just ready for Sept. 13th to roll around so I can lose my voice again at M&T Bank Stadium and get massive sunburn on my face.

Wow. This week must be "Flashback Offseason Fad" week or something.

First Favre comes back into the mix and now we're talking about Marshall again.

I really don't see the validity behind this rumor now. Ozzie has said all offseason he's content with the receivers we have now. That's why he didn't go after Marshall the first time, or Boldin. So why would he change his mind now? The only thing I could think of is Marcus Smith going to IR and some of the lingering injuries to the wide receiver corp now.

There is no validity unless we have evidents someone from Baltimore/Denver contacts someone from Denver/Baltimore. Everything else is speculation why one should contact the other.

If i was Troy Smith i would push for this trade...He can really help the Denver Broncos...
As much as I want Smith on this team, we all know he won't be sticking around for much longer if he still wants to be a starter. So therefore, let him go to Denver now while his value his high. I'd rather not take that chance with the shaky backup QB situation, but at least we have a starter entrenched in the job, so it's better than nothing.

I cant shake that feeling either. I still dont believe we will land Marshall but we are in for another shock, soon.

Ozzie was content with our OL last year but he snatched up Anderson at the end of the preseason. If something happens, I dont think its a trade.

I hear what you guys are saying. Ozzie doesn't ever really make blockbuster trades, but he did go for T.O.(dud) and McGahee. I am not one to feed into the constant rumors. I'm always skeptical about trades, especially in football since they are so rare. But for the past few weeks, I have had this nagging feeling that a decent-to-blockbuster move(could be trade or F.A. signing) is going to happen soon.

He traded for Fabian and McNair to but in all 4 of those cases it was pretty well known that the organization wanted to dump those guys for various reasons. Its not like the situation with Marshall or even Boldin where the organization was content to keep the unhappy player. Buffalo wanted Willis OUT. Fabian might have gotten cut because undead Al had picked up Hall. Tennessee HAD to move McNair's cap hit because they didnt have the money to sign their rookies. And San Fran. was feed up with Owens. The organization that we got those guys from had more to gain by trading them then they did keeping them. Thats not the case for Marshall.

Me either. I don't know what will happen or when it will happen but Ozzie is going to shock us and the whole NFL. I have had this gut feeling inside that Ozzie would make a move late and maybe we'll know soon.

I would love to see Marshall donning purple and black, but at what cost?
Exactly. I wouldn't mind Marshall on this team at all.... except for a few things. I'm going to say the same thing I said about getting Merriman in a Ravens uniform for 2010.... lock up Jared Gaither first. If siging Marshall meant losing Gaither and us going back to drafting a new LT than I say no. If there was some way to keep Gaither, Clayton, Yanda and every other key player from hitting the market while getting Marshall and giving him a new deal than by all means go for it. I just am not willing to give up our future when it comes to getting that big name reciever everybody wants.

If we don't get Marshall this season, I say lets hope that the Chargers use much of their cap to keep Merriman and Rivers and let Vincent Jackson hit the market and get Jackson to be our # 1.

Channel 45 just broke in and mentioned Marshall coming to baltimore ? I am gonna watch and see what the rumor is. Did anyone else see this ?

Yeah I saw it too during halftime of the colts-eagles game. They said they had a quote from coach. I'm curious how they know something that we don't. It's most likely just more speculation though...

Yeah, I mean if it's something from John about this, than I'm suprised that no other media outlet has picked this up. I haven't seen nothing on ESPN, FOX Sports, CBS Sports, and NFL.com has nothing on a speculation of a trade. I was questioning whether or not it was true, because one person said they saw it on FOX, I have had it on FOX the whole time since the game came on and I saw nothing. Someone else said they saw it, and I finally saw at half time. This should be interesting, but I'm thinking it might just be something we all ready know or maybe John will say they have talked to Denver..... who knows.

Yeah it will be on the news after the game. And the worst part is that they usually do sports with the last ten minutes of the news. So we might be waiting for awhile to see what they are talking about.
