Looks like the JETS are interested in bringing in Brandon Marshall. Maybe soon we can put this discussion to rest.

Would anyone be ok with trading McGahee to Denver, plus a pick or two, for B Marshall? I personally would...that is, if Ray Rice can truly hold the burden of a 4-down RB

First off the Broncos wouldn't want McGahee and his large contract. He hasn't been a solid producer in a couple years, and he's always battling injuries.

Denver's looking for a 1st & 3rd. Something ridiculous like that. I'm not totally opposed to it. I think bringing in a proven young WR would be worth it, especially since we struggle with drafting them. But then again we could get two solid producers next year with a 1st and 3rd round pick.

Also, its not just about working out a trade. Marshall is looking for a big long term contract. So even if we make the trade, he is still expecting to be locked up with a team for a long period of time. Not to mention that this extension is going to have to be top loaded with a lot of guaranteed money.

I'm pretty sure the Ravens don't have the cap space for a contract like that.

Remember what T.O. did to us years ago? We made a trade that the 49'ers accepted and then T.O. threatened to sit out the entire season if he were to become a Raven. In turn we lost our draft picks and had to pick up higher compensation picks from the Eagles. I don't think Ozzie is going to get screwed over again when it comes to trading for a "diva wide receiva"!

It's frustrating because I know a guy like Marshall could totally change this offense from what it is right now. But unfortunately it looks as if we are going to need to find our own Brandon Marshall somewhere on the Ravens roster.

Well the complaints would hinge on what the Ravens would have given up to get Marshall. Either way, it's probably not going to happen. With Mason coming back and signing Suggs to the huge contract, the Ravens really don't have enough cap room to re-structure a new contract for Marshall. And really, that is what Marshall is looking for. A long term deal.

Its all about the money with him right now. He'll gladly stay in Denver if they sign him to a long term deal with a lot of guaranteed money.

I'll never say never until something is finalized but I just don't see Marshall wearing a Ravens uniform this season or in the immediate future.

Suggs deal opened up a lot of cap space for us. After Suggs deal we were about 10 million under the cap but that was before Mason came back and before Oher and Kruger were signed. We've probably got about half that now, which in a long term deal would be enough space to give Marshall an extenstion.

Looking at the bigger picture, we have young guys of our own going up for FA in the next two seasons- Gaither, Ngata, Landry, F.Washington, Yanda (if he returns to form), Chester (if Yanda doesnt return to form), and even Clayton and Williams- which if nothing else give us depth at wr.

We probably cant keep them all anyway but if we bring in Marshall, its a fact that not all of them will be able to stay and we'd probably lose more then 1 of them.

We have around 11 million in cap space right now.

Oh and next year is...uncapped. So next time don't be so sure of yourself.

Obviously we could acquire the man if we wanted to. Your not going to sign Gaither, Yana, Ngata this year...so whats the difference then if you spend it on a Marshall.

It'll quiet down Ms. Marks any how.

id trade Troy Smith, Justin Bannan, Jarrett Johnson, a 7th and swap 6th round picks to Denver for Marshall

They get a starter at Quarterback, a starting NT or DE for themselves, an experinced solid OLB for there transition aswell as a late pick

That way we can start McClain at OLB and keep Ellerbe and Phillips around this season and have Barnes be situational

Aswell as bringing Talavou into the rotation, watch out, he'll dominate!!!!!

LMAO. Hun, I know next year MIGHT be an uncapped year. I've been preaching it all offseason because IF there is an uncapped year, it is my belief that McGahee will get dumped. I've said that a million times.

Sorry, sweety I know what I am talking about and its you that dont seem to get it. Allow me to explain it to you. Marshall is going to sign a contract, every year that he's under contract with the team will count against our cap. Which means whenever the salary cap comes back IF it goes away, the 9 or 10 million dollars that we are going to have to pay him is going to take money away from our cap. Which is going to lesson the amount of money under the cap we have for all those guys I mentioned, DO YOU GET IT NOW? I dont think I could have made it any more clearer that its not this year that he will impact but further down the line.

I think I even said we'd be able to get him signed this year but its the bigger picture that I am worried about.

And for the record, yes at one point this offseason Newsome did open negotiations with Gaither's agent Drew Roshenhous. Google it and I am sure you'll find it.
