I thought they have Dawkins?

Anyway, the Broncos won't take Troy Smith and a 2nd. I think Kyle Orton is more proven the Troy and a better NFL quarterback. Now maybe if it is a 1st, Troy and a 3rd, that I could understand.
Orton more proven? The only thing he has proven is that he can throw plenty of interceptions.

You mean Kelly Washington is a poor man's Brandon Marshall

I would love Marshall, I really think we would be put as the #1 contender in the AFC if we get him. There is no evidence of him being a bad teammate, just a bad sugar daddy.

Nobody wants Troy Smith, especially not for a Pro Bowl receiver.
Troy Smith is a quality NFL starting caliber QB, and that's out of Cam and Harbaugh's mouths.

I think they know a little more than anybody on a message board, but if you can't see that Troy is ready, I don't know what you watch. If nobody wants this guy, then I hope we keep him forever because he's really good and only improving, however I know he'll get a starting shot somewhere soon.

He's head and shoulders better than Kyle Orton and with a second round pick, that's a decent deal. Remember Moss was had for a 4th rounder.

With FOUR receivers sitting out of practice today, we should could use MARSHALL!!!!
Earlier in camp i heard they were thinking of lining up Willis at receiver sometimes.

Or even moving McClain to TE in certain sets and having Heap/LJ in the slot.

Still I wouldn't mind seeing us go after something. I'm sure Ozzie is waiting for cuts to see if anyone decent gets freed up.

I'd take Troy Smith over Kyle Orton any day. The Broncos are going to be really really really bad next season with Orton at QB. And no, I'm not one of these "Troy Smith fanatics" either. I just see what Troy Smith does and I see what Orton does and I'd rather take my chances with Troy.
I think you can just end it with "The Broncos are going to be really bad." End of story.

Ofcourse Cam and Harbs are gonna say Troy is a NFL starting caliber QB, do you expect them to come out and say he's a career backup? They also both had very positive comments on Kyle Boller saying he can be a starting QB in this league, would you agree with that?

It's completely rediculous to say Troy is head and shoulders above Orton, Troy has 2 career starts, one of those against the Steelers backups. As for Moss, he was horrible in Oakland and the Raiders didn't think he could run anymore.

What if it's nothing involving Marshall??

What if it's just something like Pat Bowlen resigning or Kyle Orton being cut? If it's already been said that Marshall IS the issue, I apologize, I'm lazy.

If anything is going to happen, I would expect it to go down within this week.

I like Troy Smith, but I'd be willing to give him up. Even Heap.

Bottom line, we NEED a WR!!!

Man this is getting old... Did anyone who says all this "we need a WR" see the preseason game? If you did watch the game, did you happen to see the 500 yards of total offense, 399 of which came through the air? This is not a make or break issue for our team.

I agree Winni. I think we have alot of receivers that are showing promise. We dont need one that is proven. We have receivers that are making their statements right now!

yes, Marcus Smith.. But it's fair to say he was slated to be our 6th receiver based on his performance in camp and in that game..

And it was for the year. Was that sarcasm or just genuine ignorance?

Not true. Most of the Steelers defensive starters played that game. The only guy I think didnt play was Polamalu because he was hurt.

In the ascertaining of talent, the pre season does mean alot.

even after a 4-0 preseason last year I had no hope or the lions, I did not of course think it would be as bad as it became... but reguardless of the final outcome, lack luster performances in presason by individuals become glaring holes during the regular season.

A little over 100 yards of that was first string passing. Did you notice that and the drops and the injury reports this week?

Yeah, don't read anything into a Jamie Dukes "tweet"

Acquiring Marshall makes a lot of sense and he WAS exonerated of battery charges. Besides, in our locker room he would definitely settle down, especially with a chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Flacco needs a weapon. Period.

True, the offensive stats were quite impressive but we need to consider it's the PRESEASON.

First off, both teams admitted that there was no gameplan going into the game. The Redskins have many new faces (more than the Ravens) & I think it was an adjustment game for them as well as a chance for them to all get on the same page.

Secondly, you have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. string players on the field.

You can't judge how well we do in preseason and compare it to how the regular season is going to be.

Bottom line is we're pretty thin in depth and talent in the WR position if there is any chance of hangin with the big boys of the AFC.

Plus I seriously doubt that most of you would not complain if the Ravens picked up Marshall or another big name reciever.

Well the complaints would hinge on what the Ravens would have given up to get Marshall. Either way, it's probably not going to happen. With Mason coming back and signing Suggs to the huge contract, the Ravens really don't have enough cap room to re-structure a new contract for Marshall. And really, that is what Marshall is looking for. A long term deal.

Its all about the money with him right now. He'll gladly stay in Denver if they sign him to a long term deal with a lot of guaranteed money.

I'll never say never until something is finalized but I just don't see Marshall wearing a Ravens uniform this season or in the immediate future.

Good point. I do see how the cap room does play into it. But I am sure there would be a way to structure a contract to get him in. Who knows?

I am just doing some wishful thinking here.

just to point out, thats because their owner goes after anyone who has a name released in public with the term "good/awesome" in the same sentence..... thats how he does his F.A. (kind of like jerry jones, funny how they are rivals lol)

Yes, it is pre-season. And yes, we were throwing a lot (54 attempts). And yes, there were a few dropped balls. Yes, I'm sure I would complain if we picked up Marshall for the previously mentioned reasons - he wants too much money and we would have to give up too much to get him. I'm not "o.k" with sacrificing our teams future for a big name receiver NOW. We are a run heavy offense who wins games with an amazing defense and good game management. If Heap and Rice are utilized as much in the passing game as the team hopes to then I think we will be fine.
I'm just really sick of the whole "we need a big name WR" as I'm sure most can tell.

I agree. I'm not happy about our WR situation, but I'm also not real wild about Marshall's apparent personal issues and prima donna tendencies. That said, if we signed him I'd be a lot more relieved about the skill at that spot. Also, in defense of our draft I will admit that there weren't tons of options available in round 2, although I think we could have taken Mike Wallace (now a Steeler :( ). That would mean no Kruger though. I am very, very happy with the Oher choice at #1.
