......... As a member with only 5 posts, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But:

1.) Pre-season technically does NOT matter. (If it did, then why don't we all watch every single day of OTA's, TC, and Scrimmages?)

2.)You're telling me that the Lions' Fans were bragging up and down after P-S, an then later on went to hang signs saying, "0-16, Yes We Can!" No! There is no Bragging Rights about pre-season. That's like saying that we could brag about beating the Steelers in our last game of '07.

Edit: Btw, when I said "I'll give you the BotD," I meant creating a pointless argument , like stated below.

bragging rights( i meant it for pre-season and regular season, it only counts for the teams that we beat... you can bragg about it for the whole off season, untill the next season starts. )i dnt care about the lions, thats not my team im not worried about them, im only worried about the ravens..
ok pre-season might not count on the record, but that does not mean that we have to keep track of ota's, tc, and scrimmages.. we dnt have to, im only talking about pre-season games. (just basic football, 4 quarters ya konw)

Preseason matters only in evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of individual talent. The final score doesn't matter other than to get the younger guys used to the feeling of victory in the NFL. Otherwise, preseason is the time when you find out which of the younger guys want it more. Roughly 75-80% of the roster is already set in stone, mostly due to money or prior performance. The other 20-25% is comprised of guys on the bubble. You watch for the on-the-bubble guys, not the established stars guaranteed to make it or the rookies with the big paychecks.

I don't think bragging rights matter when it comes to preseason. Preseason just shows you which team has better depth at the time. If preseason bragging rights mattered, the Lions would've been ecstatic in the midst of their 0-16 season, that they went 4-0 in the preseason.

Oh yeah, by the way, your post is grammatically incorrect, therefore misleading. If you wanted to say that there is no difference between RS and PS, then you would state that is doesn't matter.

And to your second post, I have no idea what you are tying to say. If you were grammatically correct, didn't lack proper punctuation and capitalization, and a little more lenient on using the little spell checker on your browser, I would be able to better understand what you are trying to point out. But right now if you can't agree with what I have said before, and have something more to say, I will need something easier to comprehend.

I enjoy watching pre season games. I enjoy watching young talent trying to make a name for themselves.
I also love watching our starters leave the field healthy, therefore I wish the NFL would shorten the pre season schedule and grant an increase from the 53 man roster to a 65 man roster (to cover the inevitable injuries).

Beyond a game against the Redskins, I work in PG and MONT counties so it is fun to tweak the skins fans every chance i get (DEC 7, 2008 will give me bragging rights for 4 years) pre season for the starters is just another opportunity to get hurt (just ask Marcus Smith)

No...... My point was that I read and didn't understand.

I think if we have an 18 game season, we'll have to have two bye weeks.

And BTW, I'm the only one in my family that doesn't need glasses. :D

I care about it. Getting younger players a feel for the speed of the game. Real hitting. The injury concerns are there, but players get injured in practices.

Pre season record doesn't matter, but Pre season itself matters in evaluating players, cutting, or whatever, you get the idea. On a side note, are you on some kind of medication there, unkown87fan? you seem awfully excited every post I see.

Well yes and no. The results technically don't matter seeing as it's about blooding new players and seeing who is up to standard; from the same token you don't want injuries to key players (I know some aren't playing anyway) and you also want your starting offense/defense to be sharp whilst they are on the field.

So really, it does in many ways but in terms of record purely, no it does not.

Pre-season matters a lot. It is there to help mold your team into a 53 man roster. I won't say the W's matter but it is good to see the strengths and weaknesses of a team before an actual W is on the line.

Everyone can say it is not important but I guarantee you that everyone on this forum watches the games.

I'm sure the coaches think it matters. After all it gives them a chance to gauge how new players react in a game situation without having to worry about losing an important game. Its crucial in ordering the depth charts.

The game matters, the score does not.

Unless it's a total blow-out like 23-0.

I'll roll with that... It's odd to see a team not play for the W in pre-season though (JAC vs MIA last night)

Agreed! Mr. F is clear and concise and has just enough homer in him.

I like the preseason for the reasons cited above, but also because it allows one to

I don't really know. It just showed up that way and I was unable to get it out of there. Decided it wasn't worth bothering about since we mods are all pretty generic anyhow. There's a limit to how much time I'll spend on anything. :D
