superstar mode is absolutely horrendous...i made one as a receiver, they pulled 5-8 run plays before they called a passing one, completely fail.

SS is the bomb....DE is pretty cool too.

Yes it is, but it's not very reliable and I'd only do it if you're in open space and you want someone else nearby to get a TD instead of the guy you're controlling. It's the L2 button (if I remember correctly) for PS3.

It's not reliable at all in running an option play because the pitch itself doesn't exactly happen as you time, and rarely will the pitch man get open enough for it to work. My experience, it's been a fumble more often than a successful lateral, and the defense reacts pretty quickly to it on the higher difficulties.

hmm, Ill have to mess with it in franchise mode...

on another note, wth is Fred Jackson's trucking rating, 99 or something? I just played online against the Pats and I swear he broke out of 5 or 6 tackles, and one of them was by two d-linemen...

My biggest gripe with the game (other than the frequency of lame-duck INTs thrown when the QB is being hit) is that running backs are impossible to tackle on higher difficulty settings and online; running backs shouldn't be this difficult to take down, as even the elite backs go down with relative ease in real life. Even though defensive players in real life have missed tackles more often than in years past, that doesn't mean that a user-controlled defender in the game that is placed in PERFECT position to make a tackle, should miss. Not only that, but any running back that is surrounded by four defenders should not miss four consecutive tackles; you don't even see that in real life from Adrian Peterson on a regular basis or even when Barry Sanders was playing.

yeah, and they dont make the broken tackles look all that realistic. In real life you either break through an arm tackle or in AP's case bowl right over a safety. In Madden you can be stacked up by 2 LBs and almost moving backwards, but the RB keeps shaking and standing up and then bam, all of the sudden the defenders fall off like gnats and the RB has an easy TD.

Of course I can NEVER do this when Im on offense, Every time i try to do a move while being tackled i fumble the ball.

side note, isnt R1 on still used to "cover the ball" and make it less likely to fumble. Seems like every time i use it it make me more prone to fumble.

That's the only way they can raise the level of competition: by making it less realistic. Instead I wish they'd make coverage better and have more tipped passes, etc. Instead they have those predictable fumbles, picks and 11 straight broken tackles for a 79 yards run on 3rd and 11. <_<

I've just decided to live with it but tweak it until I like what I've got.

Anyone see when you get a Pick Six with Ed Reed he does his "bird like" swoop celebration? If you don't know what im talking about then, just watch the Eagles vs Ravens game with Ed's huge pick six. he also did it in like 05 with a fumble recovery and TD vs the Redskins. He does it most of the time.

I love that Reed celebration. I dislike the fact that LB's can jump what looks to be 10 ft up in the air for a pass over the middle.... Also, the game seems to have problems with freezing up for me on Franchise mode,.
Also, has anyone else noticed in Franchise mode that if you return a kick-off for a TD it more often that the opposing team gets a CRAZY KOR directly after.

yep, I played against the colts last night and Brackett had a backhanded one hand INT about with about 2 ft of air under his feet

I never noticed the KR thing though. When i did play that guy with the Colts he squib kicked on EVERY kickoff. Half of them went out of bounds or directly into the hands of one of my front line guys at the 50 yard line, lol.

It's not a pelvic thrust, it's a big fist pump and kick right after. I would know, I study all of Ray Lewis' mannerisms on-field 'cause he looks B.A. (and a tiny bit ridiculous) doing it. I've got his pre-game dance down to a science, and EA Sports definitely messed up on that one. Too many pelvic thrusts.

I usually get picked off by the front 7 because I get hit as I throw.

On a side note: I may grab him in my next franchise just to see what it's like to have both he AND Troy once and for all.

I was playing a ranked match last night. I stopped this guys drive he was putting up on me. It was 4th and one and he decided to go for a FG at my 35 Yard line. It was snowing with wind and his field goal hung in the air and fell short. I had ed reed back just incase, and when i saw the ball wasnt going to make it i ran under the ball and snagged it. I was thinking to myself "I am so going to take this back to the house" then bam, the screen goes back to the play calling screen and they are defensive plays??? Its my ball, and first off it should have let me try to make a return on a live ball. The opponent paused the game and I received a message from the guy i was playing saying " umm, this isnt rite, WTH" . He was cool enough to kneel the ball 4 times so I could get the ball there. He sent me a friend request, he was really cool. Man that was a crazy glitch. Thought i would share. Im thinking the glitch happens if you catch a short FG? I had flash backs of C-mac when i caught that FG attempt lol, there was a perfect crease to the endzone too, and eddy is so fast in that game. Holds the ball with one hand just like in real life lol.

WOW, thats like the total opposite of the Dbag I just played.
Yes, I have seen weird glitches, most of the time resulting in switching sides for no reason. Like its 3rd down and you throw an incomplete pass and all of the sudden on the next play you're on defense at the same place on the field.

Not sure if you guys were interested but I thought I post this before someone posts when the next roster update is. The Next roster update is tomorrow and a Roster Update schedule for the remainder of the year. All my info is from EA Sports website and their message boards.

Week 14: Friday December 11, 2009.
Wild Card Weekend: Friday January 8, 2010
Super Bowl Weekend: Friday February 5, 2010

Those will be the last 3 scheduled roster updates for Madden 10 as I suppose they won't give us updates for FA as they will keep that for Madden 11. They also said that if something major happened(big name player going on IR) they will do a emergency update.

I think they should do a Coach Roster update for like when Bill Cowher or some other SB winning head coach gets hired to add them in the game instead of making us wait for Madden 11. Anyway, just thought I pass this little info along.

I played a little bit of Madden 10 today... (friends game) and was playing the computer in a game.... I had about 4 penalties in the first 2 drives.... the other team (titans) had 0 overall.... which really pissed me off because its like saying that the computer will not make mistakes or w/e.... idk if anyone else has had that problem, but I'll probably get it after christmas time... must say though, the intro video was one of the best intro's I have ever seen

Love the game, haven't really touched my other ones since I picked it up. I finished my season the other day and Suggs had 20 sacks, Ngata racked up 18 and Pryce had 15 haha. It is pretty easy to get sacks by sticking your best pass rusher on the LE because it is easy to get by the RT.

You guys tried that "Ultimate Team" thing yet? Its kinda cool and its a nice break for the normal monotonas madden. You get dealt a deck of card of 35 players who are all backup and 0 impact players and play games with them against other people in an effort to win and get points that you use to buy better decks of cards and better players. Team chemistry and coaching has rating and come into effect if they play on the same team or came from the same school. My roster is pretty brutal, but surprise Jalen Parmele, Jason Phillips, Troy Smith are on my roster, and Keyaron Fox and Travis Kirsche. In my first game Fox FF on the first play of the game on a toss, Kirsche FF on a sack, Parmele had over 100 yards rushing and Smith basically wasnt allowed to throw the ball lol. Steelers and Ravens nobodies doin work for me.

Seems like a cool game mode, just suprises me that they are bringing it out this late as I'm sure they are working on Madden 11. I downloaded it but I'm not impressed, it looks unfinished and it might have been better to develop it more and get it finished and add it as a game mode in Madden 11.

Also, not sure if anyone downloaded the new roster update they released on Friday, but damn it's messed up, all the players who were on IR are now active and the only thing EA did to show they were injured was remove them from the Depth Chart. Also the depth charts are messed up, for some, starters who aren't injured are second string and backups are starters. You have to really spend time fixing the depth chart just to make it right before starting a new Franchise. Just thought I let you guys know.

I just had the strangest off-season I have ever seen in Madden, and I have been playing Madden since 2005. Ok, I just got done my 3rd year of Franchise getting ready to win 3 straight Super Bowls in my 4th year. I get to the off-season, I'm in cap hell and have to release Todd Heap and Matt Birk so I could have room to sign draft picks, and I get to the free agency and this is what I see..... Patrick Willis, Matt Forte, Franke Gore, Reggie Wayne, Chad Ochocinco, Jeremy Shockey, Shonne Green, Mike Wallace, Louis Murphy, Jim Leonard, Adalius Thomas, Limas Sweed, Anthony Gonzalez and Will Witherspoon all in the FREE AGENCY! This game still hasn't figured out that some of these players will probably get new contracts and stay with their current team, I.E Patrick Willis who will stay a 49er his whole career. I wrote down where everybody went to, only the Colts and Eagles were able to retain 1 of their Free Agents; Anthony Gonzalez(Indy) and Will Witherspoon.(Eagles) Here's how everyone else shook out:

Patrick Willis: Old Team: 49ers New Team: Jaguars

Reggie Wayne: Old Team: Colts New Team: Broncos

Matt Forte: Old Team: Bears New Team: Patriots

Frank Gore: Old Team: 49ers New Team: Bears

Chad Johnson: Old Team: Bengals New Team: Raiders :229031_rofl:

Shonne Green: Old Team: Jets New Team: Rams

Mike Wallace: Old Team: Steelers New Team: Colts

Louis Murphy: Old Team: Raiders New Team: Lions

Jim Leonard: Old Team: Chiefs New Team: Chiefs

Adalius Thomas: Old Team: Patriots: New team: Eagles

Matt Birk: Old Team: Ravens New Team: Packers

Limas Sweed: Old Team: Steelers New Team: Lions

I'm in 2012 now and headed for my fourth straight Super Bowl-winning season and I've got an interesting coaching staff:

Head Coach - Derrick Mason
Offensive Coordinator - Muhsin Muhammad
Defensive Coordinator - John Harbaugh (just came out of retirement, for some strange reason)
Special Teams Coordinator - Frank Gansz

For the record, Mason looks nothing like himself as my head coach, even though his face is in the game as a player; they made him fat and I think they gave him Jim Caldwell's face or something.

Both Mason and Muhammad are entering the league as first-year coaches after retiring the same year, and already, Muhammad's offense has set records. Flacco now has the most passing yards and passing TDs in a single season and DeSean Jackson has broken Randy Moss' single-season TD record. Ray Rice also leads all RBs in receiving yards and all-purpose TDs while ranking 15th in rushing. I cranked the difficulty up a little bit and Muhammad's perks (certain coaches have certain bonuses, and Muhammad's bonuses are +5 to two specific WR attributes) have made all the difference in my passing attack.

John Harbaugh's defense, meanwhile, is first in the league in points allowed and average yards per game. Frank Gansz's special teams unit is spectacular, with my kicker Garrett Hartley hitting the most long-range field goals and scoring the most extra points in the league, and DeSean Jackson has the most punt-return yardage and largest punt-return average in the league.

This is probably the best team I've compiled, and that was after a massive restructuring where I had to get rid of half my receivers and a bunch of guys on the defensive line because of cap issues.
