Damn how did you get coax 34 sacks out of Pryce, I switched to a 4-3 and he still only had 6.

1) I'm only playing on All-Pro for right now
2) Even still, I'm a beast with the new right-analog stick controls for the D-Line
3) I'm creative with my blitzes; I'll shuffle around my D-Linemen manually by moving a guy up and over, or I'll manually adjust into a LB or DB blitz

Ya I usually play with Suggs on obvious pass downs, and even on beyond all Madden Suggs just absolutely rips apart RTs. Usually I play with Lewis... but hes 36 now, still a beast 2 ints, 16 tkls, 2 FF and 1 TD in 3 games, love that cyber Lewis lol. I drafted the DT from Florida and he has 78 speed, and was an 85 right out of the draft. My defense even on all madden has become too fast and athletic for the game its kinda ridiculous. I signed Jeff Fischer as my DC and it boosted all players awareness, player recogn, and toughness so Gooden and Barnes arent as dumb as they usually are lol. So now their pure athleticism just plays out.

question does the roster update allow you to update ur franchise after you start it?
The answer has always been no, so I'm going with that for Madden 10. What you might be able to do is import/export and adjust player updates that way.

Franny?

Negative, you can't update franchises already in progress with new roster updates. Reason being, each franchise you start operates independently of the rosters outside the mode since the CPU makes its own deliberations as to cuts/trades once you start, so the updates would conflict (especially after you start making moves yourself.)

You'd have to start a brand-new franchise if you want to use the most updated rosters possible; most people (myself included) generally wait until the Week 1 rosters are set and released as an update before going deep in the mode, just for realism purposes.

The rosters are continually updated throughout the season to maintain authenticity for Exhibition Mode and online matches.

On an unrelated note, McBoller and I had the most EPIC matchup just now. He was the Ravens and I chose the Redskins.

He took the lead 3-0 to start the scoring after I struggle on my first two offensive drives. After a little back-and-forth but no scores, I finally get the ball back as the two-minute warning hits, but then MY INFORMATION BAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN DISAPPEARED! I literally had NO IDEA what the time was because of a glitch, so I was just trying to move down 75 yards as quickly as possible within those two minutes, and I end up scoring a TD with 39 seconds left in the half! McBoller then gets the ball back, but then I pick him off with LaRon Landry and almost run it back for a TD!

So now, I'm within 30 yards of scoring and I get a huge gain that puts me within 5 yards of the end zone. Suddenly, on 3rd down right before the half ends, I THROW A PICK to who else but DAWAN LANDRY, ironically, who returns it for a 100-yard TD to make it 10-7 Ravens at the half.

After the half, after his drive stalls, I get the ball back and eventually drive to kick a FG to tie the game 10-all in the 3rd quarter. As I'm getting shredded apart due to a lapse in coverage on his next offensive drive, he gives the ball to Ray Rice but then LATERALS IT in traffic and FUMBLES, and I recover with Brian Orakpo and run it all the way for a 60-something-yard TD to make it 17-10 Redskins! At this point, I take control of the game, stopping him from scoring and eventually score again on a HUGE counter run by Clinton Portis to make it 24-10 Redskins, eventually giving me the victory.

Turnovers were the story of the game, as I had 2 and he had 5, and we each had a defensive score. I didn't allow the Ravens offense in the endzone and had two user interceptions with Carlos Rogers. I had no rushing attack until the 4th quarter and broke the game open. I dominated in time of possession and had 300-something total offensive yards to his 150 yards.

Great game and definitely one of my tougher challenges until the very end. :)

Neither guy will come cheap, but I'm more willing to part with Pryce than Ngata.

I may actually have no choice but to let go of Willis McGahee

Todd Heap will want a new deal for leading the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs.

I guess this is what happens when you're too successful. :(
I agree with you. I'm only in year two and going into my second season and I'm afraid of letting key guys go just to make sure I'm not in cap hell. I do agree on letting go of Pryce in favor of Ngata, Pryce is in a contract year in the second season so I say just let the contract run out and don't re-sign him. I have Paul Kruger replacing Pryce at LE so I can let Pryce go knowing my LE position is solid. I would just franchise Ngata(which is most likely what I'll do) until you can get the money, take the Suggs route, Franchise tag him twice if you have to.

Yeah I would let go of Willis McGahee myself, I was going to release him after year 2, but I'm doing so well with him I may just keep him around. I just want to make sure I cut Willis in time to where I get 6 or 7 good years out of Rice and not 3-4 years.I say just cut McGahee and go with Rice, that way you can stay young.

I'm worried about Heap myself, I throw to Heap alot when there is nobody open or find him for big gains down the field and he makes game winning TDs for me. My only worry is him wanting a big contract with him at his age and also considering I just drafted his replacement. I want Heap to retire a Raven but I don't think the cap will allow it. :(

This is the hardest Madden cap wise ever I think, its almost as hard as 2k5 was. Im in year 3 and 2 Superbowl titles have made my players the greediest SOBs ever. Rice has been 2 times HB of the year, so he hit me up for a 5 year 45 mil contract. Ngata is on year 3 of his 6 year 63 mil. Suggs is in year 3 of his 60 mil. I resigned Lewis for 3 more years at 21 mil again(seriously dont think hes going to ever retire and he was a DPOY and added 2 more pro bowls, and 2 more LB of the year awards so hes still legit). Barnes and Gooden both are pro bowlers so i shelled out 5/25 mil for both. Sean Smith is in the last year of his contract and wants serious cash around the 60 mil mark. Washington last year wants around 45 over 5. Oher has 1 year left and is 90 overall and wants in the 70s for 7. Grubbs has 1 year left and wants in the 50s for 5. I built just a sickening team from the draft, and promoting guys from within and I made 1 trade (Sean Smith from Miami), and it looks like im gonna lose half of my marquee players...can only imagine how Ozzie feels lol.

Franchise said it best, That's what happens when your TOO successful. Madden 09 was so easy to mess with the cap you could keep everybody, now your forced to cut some key guys to keep that one major player or sign everyone and be in cap hell. Have you lost Cam or Mattison to other teams yet? I had to re-sign Cam after year 1, I'm going to try to keep Cam as long as I could to keep Joe under one system. That's my only worry is losing key young players who is the core of the Ravens and the coordinators.

Ya I lost Cam to the Bengals lol, and I let Mattison walk after the 1st year and signed Ron Rivera, then recently signed Jeff Fischer as my DC. But ya I know what you mean, cant keep everyone its the reality but it sucks lol cuz I did it the right way without ANY free agent signings at all. Yet still get boned cuz I know how to draft lol.

If it makes you guys feel better, after year one I've let go of:

Willie Parker
Willie Colon
Charlie Batch
Casey Hampton
Brett Kiesel
Ryan Clark
Jeff Reed
Tyrone Carter
Shawn McDonald

But I signed some young no-name studs of FA, picked up some great draft picks AND replaced Willie Parker with Leon Washington who has porven to be amazing!

BTW - Ravens signed Casey Hampton......between Him, Ngata and Suggs I cannot run left OR up the gut.

Just finished up the regular season of my second season and won the AFC North title back to back at 12-4. I beat the Colts in the Divisonal round, now I'm getting ready to face the 13-3 New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game. Ok, I bring this up because this is the 2nd consecutive AFC Championship matchup between Ravens-Patriots. My first year, I played the AFC Championship game in Baltimore, now this time around I have to travel to NE for the AFCCG. Has anyone had to face the same opponent twice in the any playoff game or SB?

In both my franchise years, Ive played the steelers and pats in the playoffs in the division and conference champ. I played the Eagles and Seahawks in the Super bowl. Eagles game was 12-9 lol and then i murdered the Seahawks.

Best Madden so far. But is anyone else getting low tackle counts for LBs? Highest I got was around 60-75 for RayRay.

Seems a bit low for some reason.

It depends on how long your games are. The inherent problem with making football a playable experience is the amount of time it'd take to finish a game; if you set it to 15-minute quarters with no accelerated clock, it might take you 3-4 hours real-time to finish a game just like on Sundays. So because they've had to scale the clock down for default gameplay, games end a lot quicker which also means less time on the field in general to rack up stats of any kind. Not only that, but no matter what your skill level, 3-and-outs generally come more frequently than in real life because the CPU doesn't quite eat up the clock and make drive-extending plays the way a real-life team would.

In franchise, do you guys play every single game? I try to play about six of them and sim the rest so the stats at the end of the year are a bit normal.
I'll usually play all home divisional games and/or prime time games (if it's Pit @ Bal on Monday night vs. Bal @ Pit at 1pm Sunday, I'll choose the former). Then 2-4 others depending on the level of competition, records and rivalhood.

I play every single game, though preseason is iffy. Sometimes I'll play preseason just to try out the new toys I acquire in the offseason, but most times I'll sim just because the games mean nothing and do very little to help the players develop (or so I've seen.)

Because I play every single game, a lot of the stats are unrealistic. I rack up 20+ sacks with whoever I favor as my primary pass-rusher, and my QB always has a ridiculous yards-per-pass average.

I supersim the preseason (injuries OFF!!) so I can make sure everyone gets reps. I do it very similar to the way its really done. Older vets play one or two series tops. I also judge my depth charts by the stats after all four games and also use those stats (plus age, exp. etc.) to determine who will be captains (I wish we could have four). I ended up with a rookie MLB (3rd string) who is out-performing both Farrior AND Timmons with his limited playing time. My hope is that Farrior retires after this season. That or he'll be my utility guy until he does.

That's why I sim a lot of them. I'll look at stats towards the end of the year and favor anyone who may be in the mix for an award, etc.

Yeah I play 15-min clocks with 25-sec accelaration. That is true about the CPU letting the clock run.

BTW, taht was not a lateral. I dont even know how to lateral. I hit the spin move and he fumbled it straight towards the sideline like it came out of a cannon. If that was a lateral, it was a mistake or a glitch. I was really pissed, lol.

This has to be the best game of Madden I have played. I started a Franchise with the Broncos. I'm having an up and down year but I'm alright with it. I lose Kyle Orton for the year and have to deal with Chris Simms has my new starter. I come to Week 9 and I have to play the Steelers and boy this was a shootout and a game that came down to the final seconds, and you wouldn't think it the way I was getting killed in the first half.

Every time the Steelers were on offense they managed to score, my secondary is exposed big time. By the time the end of the first half came I was down 28 to 3. I managed to mount a huge come back, got a couple onside kicks recovered and I made my way back up in the 4th quarter to be down 49 to 51. I tried one final onside kick and it failed, luckily the next Steelers possesion they hand Willie Parker the ball and Dumervil forces a fumble and I recover the ball and run down the clock and make a field goal to win the game 52 to 51.

P.S. Does anyone have trouble signing their 1st Round pick? I started a Tampa Franchise, shipped Antonio Bryant to Baltimore for a 1st round pick, re-signed Derrick Brooks, picked up Plaxico Burress(still having trouble getting connected to the PS network so I still have the default roster) and some rookie FA reciver. Anyhow simmed the season, and got the # 1 overall pick, and the 10th overall pick.(Madden really does hate the Ravens) I took Taylor Mays as my # 1 overall pick, and with the Ravens pick took Suh as my franchise DT with the 13th overall pick after trading down. I go to the rookie signings and I click on Taylor Mays and it won't let me. I can sign everyone else except Mays. I simmed the signings to see if the CPU would sign him for me but they don't and Mays is picked up by the Bengals. I wasn't happy and shipped my first round pick for 2011 to the Bengals to acquire Mays and gave Mays like $60 million dollars. Anyone else have that trouble?

wierd thing about this game is that... i can actually get pick 6's with foxworth and fab.

starting zbikowski instead of landry was a big turn around for defense too. nakamura at nickel ftw!

Yes it is, but it's not very reliable and I'd only do it if you're in open space and you want someone else nearby to get a TD instead of the guy you're controlling. It's the L2 button (if I remember correctly) for PS3.

It's not reliable at all in running an option play because the pitch itself doesn't exactly happen as you time, and rarely will the pitch man get open enough for it to work. My experience, it's been a fumble more often than a successful lateral, and the defense reacts pretty quickly to it on the higher difficulties.
