For the Ravens it make Ray Rice RB1 and puts Justin Harper in the roster, however it take Marcus Smith OUT of the roster and COMPLETELY out of the game. I know he's on IR, but Adam Terry wasnt taken out, what the heck Madden?
Can we get Justin Harper on Madden 2010???? Gosh!!
This is one thing EA hasn't figured out yet. They put all rosters at a maxium of 55 players. Once the team gets to that or above they take someone one to get them to the 55 man roster. If they would set it at 80 man roster and put in the roster cut deadline to where we have to get to the deadline of a 53 man roster than everything would be good. I also wish they would take their time on getting these rosters straight, what I mean is Willie Anderson retired AFTER the Draft and somehow he still made the game months later. Ravens got screwed though, I mean no Davon Drew, no Gano(Gano is not even in the game!) it is crazy.

2 Things that still hurt Madden:

1. No 80 Man Roster with a 53 man roster deadline in Franchise

2. Playoff Seeding is wrong. I rented Madden 10 today, and simulated a franchise to see the off-season improvements and Atlanta finished 10-6 a division winner yet they were the 6th seed, not the 4th seed.

P.S. Also I'll be buying the game next week, and if anybody can help me get the updated rosters(I don't have PSN) that would be helpful. Is there a site with the Roster Update File I can just download off my computer and put onto a flash drive to upload into Madden 10?

To be fair, they already have so many details to so many individual players, and they put so much effort into the ratings as-is, that it'd be almost impossible for them to keep track of all real-life 80-man rosters. The only reason why MLB 09: The Show is able to do something similar is because: 1) Sony made it for their own system, so they're familiar with the intricacies, obviously, whereas EA Sports is doing it multi-platform; and 2) It'd be tricky for them to continually do regular roster updates like last year and still be accurate with even more players to keep track of.

Also, the size limitations of the Xbox 360's disc format might be an issue, since the player ratings and faces and individual equipment and info would exponentially take up more-and-more space. PS3's Blu-Ray format wouldn't be an issue, though. :)

If you have PS3 (which I'm assuming you do), I can post Roster Update files that you can put onto a flash drive and save onto your console. I might start a thread of that if I have time to keep doing it regularly...

I realized something, without the roster update, Suggs won't take the $63 million dollar deal in Madden. I tried re-signing him to that exact deal he signed in real life and he wouldn't take it. It is hard to play Franchise without the roster update. I thought they would have had time to adjust the rosters and any contracts signed but I guess not.

To Franchise: Yeah I do have a Playstation 3, and I been on google and searched Downloadable roster update and I can't find a site anywhere. I printed out the roster update details and just fixed the ratings when it came to players, I even upped some player ratings myself(like probably what most people do) to make it more realistic. I bumped up Troy Smith 7-11 points to reflect the Redskins game. Hopefully Troy's rating will go up and Justin Harper gets back on our Roster in the next update. Yeah, Franchise if you don't mind could you save some roster downloads.

Same. I'm the kind of person that takes Franchise to heart, so that would be fun. And also, BRING BACK TRAINING CAMP! lol

is anyone else experiencing a lot of holdings on field goals and extra points? I had two on the same extra point and moved me back 10 yards! I also had one on a game winning field goal!

I HATE THAT. Steven Hauschka is already inconsistent enough as a kicker in the game, but it doesn't help when they've got Davon Drew holding half the time. (Coincidence that it's always him? Hmm...)

Question: Did they happen to fix the issue where when you are running up the gut, and the hole is there but all of a sudden you get "magetized" to the tackler? This usually resulted in a potential 10-15 yard run getting cut to a 3-4 yarder. That pisses me off to no end. Granted I COULD make it easier, but I just want it fair.

Thanks.

As far as I've seen, yes, that's been fixed. And even still, once you've been grabbed by a tackler or two, there's no guarantee you'll go down even if you've seen the animation before. With the new PRO-TAK system, any and all animations are able to be branched out, so you can spin out of a would-be tackle when you least expect it, or wriggle free from what looks to be a sure ankle takedown by catching your balance at the last second. Very cool stuff.

Also, the running game requires more patience (as in real life.) You'll likely be shut down at first, but after a handful of carries, your back will start to gain 2 or 3 more yards than initially, and after the defense has been chipped away, the fatigue will set in and you'll be able to break a big run. The game really makes you WORK for those big runs, too. The blocking, though much improved, exists only to counter the improved penetration of the defensive AI. You have to learn to develop ballcarrier vision and see holes where none exist. Theoretically, every run can be turned into a positive gain.

Sounds sweet! Thanks Franny.

I'm in the playoffs of my 29th season in franchise in 09. I should be just about done with the 30th and final season when 10 gets here. lol

I do feel that the running game is much better than last year. I totally understand the magnet theory. But you'll find that it's tough to run through holes in the OL this year too.

You'll see the gap, hit it, but then get taken down immediately. The probability of actually breaking a long run through these inside holes are slim. Only difference is that this year there is a slight chance of breaking it.

I still think that if you find a hole like that, then the linebackers or CBs need to stop you. Not get stopped by a reaching OL arm every time. I realize this happens, but in the game, way too much.

The magnetizing you are seeing is pre set animations firing. Its called rubber banding and it was supposed to be phased out. Defensive linemen can still get sucked into blockers like a black hole.

That's actually a better description of what I was talking about. You get sucked into the tackler.

I've completed the greatest comeback I've ever had in my history with Madden.

I hadn't played on All-Madden in Madden 10 yet because I was afraid since I struggled enough with my own IQ Difficulty in this year's edition. However, I decided to mess around and bite the bullet and do a Ravens-Steelers game on All-Madden just to test myself.

Anyway, so I'm being dominated by the Steelers as their defense forces FIVE interceptions from Joe Flacco (three of them were from those annoying lame-duck passes that happen when you throw as you're hit) and they're up 10-0 at the half as my offense produces virtually nothing. Each time I catch a break, another pick is forced, and so on and so forth. In the second half, however, things get interesting. I throw up a pass as I'm getting hit, and it happens to fall into the hands of a WIDE-OPEN Todd Heap who runs untouched for a 35-yard TD to make the game 10-7 in the third quarter!

And just when things looked bleak, Ray Lewis gets a lucky interception on 3rd down past the 50-yard line that gives the Ravens prime field position as the 4th quarter opens -- only for Steve Hauschka to miss a 50-yard attempt that would've tied the game. At this point, all hope is almost lost and I've just about given up...when the Ravens defense forces another 3-and-out as the 2-minute warning hits.

Armed with 2 timeouts and the ball at their own 20, the Ravens conduct a two-minute drill that starts with an incompletion to Derrick Mason -- only to be followed by a 20-yard completion to Demetrius Williams, a 21-yard clutch grab by Justin Harper immediately thereafter, and then another 11-yard grab by Harper to put the Ravens in field goal position with less than a minute left!

At this point, I decide not to press my luck and play for the tie by making safe throws to get in the middle of the field and MAYBE get closer to the endzone. 8-yard pass to D.Will becomes 3rd-and-2 after Kelley Washington drops a pass. Just then, Justin Harper makes ANOTHER clutch grab for a 14-yard gain with 29 seconds left on the clock! Timeout, then I decide to go with one of my money plays. I hit Justin Harper AGAIN over the middle after nearly taking a sack for the GAME-WINNING 5-YARD TD WITH 25 SECONDS LEFT!

After turning the ball over FIVE times, Joe Flacco orchestrates the game-winning drive and scores with 25 seconds left on the clock and still a timeout to spare against the World Champion Steelers! This is the stuff that (Madden) legends are made of! :)

For a second there I thought I was ready a captivating novel. Now I'm interested in the next chapter!

You have to love those comeback wins, especially in all-madden mode. Justin Harper was a beast . And to think a couple weeks ago, this would not have been possible. Did you change your lineup before playing?

Nope, I didn't touch my lineup at all, I just used the 5-WR package when passing out of the Shotgun Raven Empty formation. My only gripe about Harper is that he gets tired too easily (and subsequently gets subbed out too frequently), and he's much slower than expected. I hit him on a crossing route in the 2nd quarter that would've gone for a HUGE TD, but instead got stopped at the 10-yard line, which led to the lame-duck interception when the Steelers rushed 8 and Casey Hampton was literally RIGHT IN FRONT of Flacco and grabbed the ball as soon as it went up in the air. That pick, more than any other one, pissed me off the most because I was trying to THROW THE BALL AWAY.

I think I suck at it. Ive started out 0-3 in online play with very embarassing losses. My latest loss I managed 32 yards for the entire game including -12 yards rushing. Lost 35-14 and the points I did score were on a Gooden 104yd INT return and 82 Fumble return.

I dont get it, I had a winning record in 09, but 10 is just not my cup of tea.

I screwed up. Forgot to delete Plaxico and Marvin Harrison before I started my superstar (Steelers FS). Ravens signed Plax and the Browns signed Harrison. Now I have to live with it.

Anyone else have an EXTREMELY tough time beating Peyton Manning?

New roster update coming sometime over the next couple of days to reflect the Week 1 rosters, so ratings may change AGAIN. On a bright note, Kelley Washington's rating has increased. :)
