Marcus Smith To Ir?

38 posts in this topic

Harbs said at his presser that Marcus Smith might have a possible ACL injury. When asked about Smith he said it looked serious and he was going to get checked out.

That would be a tough break for a guy that was really fighting for a WR spot. If he is hurt it opens the door for guys like Harper, Wheelwright, and Figurs.

I hope the guy isn't hurt bad.

I hope he can avoid the IR. Even if he didn't make an impact at receiver, he's a very good gunner.
Yes he is a really good tackler on special teams. Like i said above, Harbs just said it was serious, so i hope he can avoid IR too. However if it ain't right don't risk it.

Sit out and come back next year.

I know what you mean. But if Smith lands on the IR, there may not be a next year. Look at Sypniewski.

Be a big loss with the loss of Marcus Smith. The more depth we have with Young big recievers the better chance we have at finding the gem.

Marcus made some nice routes tonight. Needs to work on the hands. I hope he heals fast and misses the IR bug.

Our team doesn't need to start of the season with injuries. They have really been our archilles heal the past few seasons.

He was hobbling real bad.

Not a good sign. Hopefully he can recover from this.

It kind of mad me mad that there were 2 or 3 players walking beside him while he was limping around like a gimp, yet no one gave him a shoulder..

torn ACL/MCL is what they were saying on 105.7.. MRI comes back tomorrow.. that would be a blow for us. hopefully its just strained, but only time will tell.. if its just a strain maybe we could put him on the PUP list (not quite sure if thats still possible), but a tear means we wont be seeing him this year.. it sucks that he's worked so hard this offseason to see it all (possibly) end in a pre-season game.

Putting Smith on the PUP list would still be possible.

I hope that is the case for him. PUP list would give the Ravens the option to make a decision on him after week 6.

Yeah.....not too happy about this one. The entire offseason I was touting him as my sleeper pick; guess we'll have to wait til next year to find out. For now, looks like I'll be jumping aboard the Harper bandwagon.

Wow..

This sucks.. was really hoping to see him do something this season.

Well I don't know if it's certain yet if he is out for the whole year.

They aren't sure if it's ACL or MCL or if it's torn. So there is still hope. Hopefully MCL

I think (or at least hope) that Marcus should get better. I dont think he could have torn his ACL, because once you tear it the pain doesn't just "go away" as he mentioned in his interview.

I wish him well, but hopefully this gives the others, like Justin Harper, Wheelwright, Foster, Figurs, etc etc a chance to step up to the plate a bit more. (and btw figurs had some nice catches this last game)

I thought so too before I tore my ACL. It didnt hurt at all, and I even kept playing on it. I just felt instability in my knee. But mine was partially torn so i don't know. But if they are declaring it ACL or MCL now, then thats not a good sign. Hopefully MCL

One of them wasn't exactly a catch, lol, but I agree. He showed some definite improvement from last year, when he dropped everything.

If they would have reviewed that Figurs play, they would have ruled it a catch.

His right foot was on the ground at the time he caught the ball. Then he got his left foot down. He never juggled the ball, so he had possion as soon as it touched his hands.

It was close but it was a catch.

I don't know if you saw what I saw. His second step was clearly on the white chalk. The announcers were all saying good thing they didn't review it because it wasn't a catch

It's hardly worth arguing over but, from what I saw, his right foot was off the ground at the moment he caught the ball. When he put it down, it was on the white stripe. It doesn't matter much, it's already in the books..

2 things. It says he tore his ACL, then he said he sprained his ACL and requires surgery. If it's sprained why does it need surgery. Second why do they have a picture of Troy Smith when they are talking about Marcus Smith

Edit: http://twitter.com/RavensInsider

Here is the exact link that says Marcus tore his ACL. Hope for the best for him

Nah it's torn.
Ravens wide receiver Marcus Smith has torn his ACL, MRI results confirmed, according to his agent. Dr. James Andrews will do the surgery.
Let's not kid ourselves, Marcus Smith was going to get cut anyway if one of Riley/Wheelwright/Harper had stepped up.

This isn't a "big loss" as our entire WR corps is a bunch of projects just like him anyway.

I'm guessing that Figurs would've salvaged a spot, and Harper looked like a better prospect anyway.

Naw it's not worth aruging about, the only reason why I even brought the catch back up is because me and a friend had some fun with the catch. We bet on if it was a catch or not. We were able to slow that play down and watch it frame by frame. It was a catch.

But back to the topic. This is sad news for Smith. He was in a fight for his NFL life. He did some good things last night. Also had a big drop.

He is a young guy and you hope he can come back from this thing like a Steve Smith. Faster, quicker, and stronger.
I hope it's not a thing like Trent Smith or Quinn Syp, who were not able to really come back from their injury.

I just hope for the best. Good luck Marcus
