My Computer Crashed

9 posts in this topic

My computer crashed today, killing everything on my hard drive. I don't have recovery disks for my itunes music, but everythings still on my Ipod.

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to sync music from your ipod to your computer.

thanks!

Yeah, I believe if you just plug your iPod in your computer you will be able to upload your music library.

If your ipod is set to automatically sync to your iTunes when connected then it will wipe it as soon as you do.

While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto sync'ing with iTunes. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted and iTunes appears.
Right click on the iPod icon in iTunes' source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says "Manually manage songs and playlists". You can now manage your library manually without losing any songs on the iPod.

If it's already set to manual you can skip that step.

Now download this freeware Sharepod which will make the process a lot easier because iTunes encrypts your music files making it difficult to know what your doing by yourself.

With that software you can highlight all your music, video, playlists and album artwork files on your iPod and copy them to your PC, then it's just a case of adding it back into your iTunes and re-sync'ing your iPod.

Hope this helps.

Believe me it's not, Apple have made sure you can't simply upload from your iPod because you could share your music with others!

Besides, as I said in my post above, if his iPod is set to auto sync with his iTunes and his iTunes is now empty it will wipe his iPod to match the iTunes.. ;)

What you said is correct. You cannot simply import files from your IPOD. You need the software to do so. If you goto www.versiontracker.com they usually have freeware or shareware that can get you what you need. I own a Macintosh computer, so I have a great program called POD to MAC. If they have something like that for the PC, GET IT! That site should help you out though.

Be sure to transfer the music files before syncing the IPOD

Apple didn't want people stealing music so if you sync up without the music in your library all of it will be deleted. You got to enable a setting on Itunes so it doesn't delete them but it still won't transfer.

Hi everyone,

I've been seeking for ages for financial management software and was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. it has been so difficult choosing a good program for the Mac. Below are my requirements:

-Can work with American financial institutions
-Should support automatic download of deals from my own financial institutions
-Can provide a way to monitor saving for particular plans
-Must offer way to show where spending is going

I've attempted Money Tracker of the greatest financial management reviews since now, but it failed me in the above demands. Anyone have any ideas? What do you use?

Any advices can be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.
