Stargazers Beware!

I am a huge science geek (I am a chemist by trade)...so crap like this gets me really excited. I am going to try to get my camera set up right to take some pics to post. Anyone else going to stay up and watch this? Luckily I live in a mostly farm area, so light pollution is not a problem...hopefully the clouds will stay away though.

I know you haters all going to say "Happens every year...so what....you're an idiot....(votes this negative)" But darn it...it is still cool!

Grrrrrrrrr. I'm just finishing up a Bio class. Should get a B, but MAN! That class kicked my butt. More Bio terms than there are words in certain languages.

What really helped was the Latin class I took in high school  , you get that in Catholic school. I love science but I am weak in math so it makes chemistry labs very hard.!

I got into Bio, but it comes with a crash course in basic chemistry. That coupled with my hatred for math made it both difficult and aggravating. lol.

wow.. I would not last a minute living as a chemist haha. I got a 91 (which is a B in my school >:o).. in chemistry last year but every minute of that class was painful. Luckily I am interested in Environmental Science which I took a class in just this summer. It was pretty cool stuff. Not into astronomical stuff at all though. Do you actually get to see meteors? What time is the best to see it? I might try to check it out if it's tonight.

yeah lol, I just finished my Bio 1 class, and lab today.... I was passing with flying colors on all of our tests in the lab... until we got to fungus/bacteria/protists ..... we had to know the genus name .... for a crap load of them on our final...... needless to say, I think my A might have gone down to a B if I'm lucky

You need to be away from the light pollution of the city and they are best viewed between 2 am and 5 am est. If this cloud deck around here clears and we also are almost at a full moon which puts off a lot of light.

Wow got some nice responses! I think the best time they said should be between 9-11pm tonight and early as all get out Wednesday morning (just before dawn). Assuming the clouds stay away you should have no problmes seeing them (as long as you live in a relatively light free area). The following is taken from seasky.org which contradicts other sites I have seen stating tonight is better. Any astronomers out there that can verify?

August 12, 13 - Perseids Meteor Shower. The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. This year's peak occurs on the morning of August 12, but you may be able to see some meteors any time from July 23 - August 22. The waning gibbous moon will provide some interference in the early morning, so the best viewing will be in the evening before it rises. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. Look to the northeast after midnight.
