Redkins Vs Ravens Thursday

81 posts in this topic

I can't remember what network or website did it but they broke down mascots from every 32 team into a giant tournament based on votes. It was like March Madness for Mascots. It came down to Poe from the AFC vs Cheif Zee from the NFC and Poe got more votes.

I agree. I'm ready for the season to start. I got my tickets for the Pre-season game against the Panthers and I'm trying hard to get tickets for Thursday and against the Jets. At least get tickets for the Jets so I can see us shut up the hype of the Jets.

Depends, you wanna pay regular season price starting at $60 and up. I went on ticketmaster to see how much tickets were and I had to pay regular season price for pre-season tickets. The Panther tickets were $60 each. I went on to Stubhub and found tickets for Thursday's game starting at $13 and tickets for the Jets started at $11! Also They had some good cheap tickets for Ravens regular season games.

Oh yeah, I remember. It was cbssports.com, and they held a NCAA tourney-style fiercest mascot competition, Poe was a 15 seed and Chief Zee was something like 10th. Skins fans were all over the forums trashing us, talking about how they would crush us when we played them in the regular season and how their Landry was so much better than ours. I live in Redskins country and have a few skins fan relatives, and while there are a lot of nice, intelligent Redskins fans, some of the fans and the local media coverage can get annoying as hell- they think their franchise is God's gift to the NFL. Their frustration is compounded by Dan Snyder, who thinks he can do no wrong and makes sure they never do better than 9-7 each year. With someone like him owning the team, I can barely take the skins seriously each year.Makes me thankful we have a guy like Bisciotti who rightly trusts his front office.

Im interested to see how Brian Orakpo does. I love the Ravens but something tells me this guys gonna a monster and is going to be wreaking havoc on teams for a long time.

I'll be really excited to see our Wideouts doing all they can to show why we didnt take Kenny Britt, Hakeem Nicks or a big play receiver in the offseason.

Link for mascot contest... scroll down for results for each round.
[and read the article - it's amusing.]

http://www.cbssports.com/spin/story/10883643

[read some of the other write-ups, too, they're quite humorous. The Steelers organization doesn't even like their own mascot! haha.]

Anyway, while it's nice to win preseason games for bragging rights, the bragging is actually pretty hollow. Each team is trying something different during the game, whether it is getting your starters more used to each other [having a new QB springs to mind] or checking out the depth of your team, or trying to decide which players to cut or checking out new offensive/defensive schemes. While each team wants to win, I don't think that is their ultimate goal. Especially for the first preseason game.

So, I don't care who wins preseason games, I'm just glad that football is back!

The Jets tickets aren't that bad. I bought mine on eBay yesterday. Four tickets in the 100 sections for $120.00

I'm looking forward to the game on Thursday. Not so much for a win. But to see what some of our later picks to do. I'll be especially watching the depth at cornerback and wide receiver. While we have a lot of guys at those positions, I'd really love to see some start to shine.

Haha, that Lookalike thread is actually pretty damn funny.

But we're still miles ahead of them in terms of talent.

Why?!?! I'm guessing they are hoping to gain "redemption" from last years bit on MNF. Even so, it's only pre-season. We won't have all our starters and neither will they. It doesn't even count as a game. I don't get the "rivarly" the Skins fans have against us. They aren't our division or even AFC. We hardly play them. I guess it's the whole "battle of the beltways thing" still though I've never felt the hatred that they feel. Shouldnt they keep the hate on Dallas? This game really doesn't matter to me.

I bet the Colts fans feel the same way about us and generally we don't hate the Browns nearly as much as they hate us. So i think thats a feeling that many fan bases in the NFL deal with.

Lol at this point, I don't think anyone hates the Browns as much they hate other teams. They just aren't competitive... okay, the exception may be the Bengals.

Cursona, you need to change your sig before someone (read "mod") changes it for you.

Does anyone watch this pro dc Garbage. Its so funny seeing the comments from Skin fans, "Superbowl 44 baby" "Ravens suck go Skin" "Skin goes 13-3 and superbowl ring"

This stuff cracks be up. Are they in denial? They still think they are better than us, even after they gets their asses handed to them by the Ravens on National Television, when EVERYONE is the WORLD is watching! They won, how many games, 5-6? With a loss to the the Bengals and Rams on-top of that. What did they acquire that has boosted confidence in their team and Coach Zorn? Hanesworth? Their secondary sucks big ones and their DL cant handle our beefy OL. Sometimes i think Pitt fans are smarter than skin fans.

The skins think they are better than us now that they have Haynesworth.. yeah like one player will suddenly make them go from 7-9 to 13-3 and beating the Giants, Cowboys, and the Eagles. Some of the redskin fans are way to optimistic. I say they finish last in their division again.

1. Let's remember that every fan base has it's delusional posters. We have been witness to the "Ozzie should be fired!" "Vick would fit perfectly here." "Why so much emphasis on defense?" threads. Would you want our entire fanbase to be judged on a few posts like that?

2. Remember that the Redkins had the fourth overall defense before they added argueably the best (if not that, easily one of the best) defensive lineman in the nfl.
They swept the Eagles, and the Cowboys are using the non-sensical "addition by subtraction" method, so it's not really that big of stretch to say they will make a splash in their division next year.

I just went through their schedule. I predict 7 or 8 wins, lol.
Seriously? They play both West divisions don't they? (And the Lions and the Saints). Granted they did lose to the Bengals and their offense scored fewer points than the Lions did, but they should have a winning season at least.

Normally I'd agree, but i would never trust a team quarterbacked by Jason Campbell, coached by Jim Zorn and owned by Dan Snyder to do anything but disappoint.

oh hmm, I never knew that.

Still with the QB that they have (maybe he'll improve this year) I don't see them being a serious threat in their tough tough division. True they have swept the Eagles and the Cowboys but they also lost against the Rams and the Bengals last year.

I admit my comments were far-fetched, maybe last year was a growing-pain year for Campbell and their new coach Zorn. But until they prove otherwise, I will be hard for me to believe that they are better than us.

No, the NFC South and the AFC West. But they are in a tough division to start out with. I predict that they only win 2 of those games, 2-3 against the AFC West, beat the Lions, beat the Rams, win 1-2 games in the NFC South.

They aint good enough to be in the playoff hunt because of the Division they're in! Unless both Wild Card spots come out of their Division.

Darklight1216 are you still a Ravens/Skins fan or have you completely turned to the Purple side??

i just thought you all might want to read this: http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=2226515259
And those are before 2008.

In 2008 we can add:
24-10
Flacco > Campell
Harbaugh is a better coach then Zorn. 11-5, playoff berth, two playoff wins, made it to the AFC Championship game.
Jason Taylor is a fail.
Ed Reed vs. Redskins in 2008-2 picks, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Touchdown. (Basically everything you can do on defense)

and he is actualy one of the most penalized too for unnecessary roughness penalties , heck 3years ago he a the 7 game boot for scratching out some ones eye with his cleate, Last year he was let go with reason when he lost o us he caused over 32K worth of damage in the stadium , Tenn Let him go no fine just pushed him out the door , he has had 2 duis , a hit and run . one of the most troubled DTs in the league I am scared we are playing him cause he has this volitile nature he may snap and end up in jail. I actualy fear for our players saftey remember as well in 2004 he was susspended for 6 games by his team for attacking another player violently.

*Facepalm* Oh yeah, Matt Ryan is finally going to play some real defenses and get his butt whooped by them; how could I forget?
Still, I think they'll be able to have a winning season. In the "nine wins and you're in NFC" that could be enough for a playoff spot. Now as far as being actual Super Bowl contenders eh...

Well I already commented on the division, but getting both Wild Card spots has happened before... it might have actually been the last time DC was in the playoffs (2006?), but I'm not sure.

The Redskins are my NFC team and my home team (in name if not actual location). I'm surprised that you remembered that though.
