Top 10 Cornerback Tandems

22 posts in this topic

What do you guys think of CMac and Baxter or CMac and Duane Starks or CMac and Rolle not making the list. Even Bailey and Fred Smoot or Bailey and Bly. Namdi Asoughma and Washington/Hall.

10. Everson Walls and Dennis Thurman
9. Albert Lewis and Kevin Ross
8. Wille Brown and Skip Lewis
7. Deion Sanders and Anyone
6. Mel Blount and J.T. Thomas
5. Dick leBeau and _______
4. Bob Jeter and Herb Adderley
3. Ronnie Lott and Eric Wright
2. Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield
1. Mike Haynes and Lester Hayes

Sometime I feel these tops are highly tribute to older players when I doubt they are half the players of the current NFL athletes. I know Sanders was good and he deserves to be on the list, I heard of Ronnie Lott as a great Safety I guess he was that good of a corner.

How do you think NFL Networks list matches up with the best tandems of my time.

Namdi Asoughma and Washington/Hall?

Nnamdi has been a great corner for three seasons, Hall was a joke in Oakland as was Washington, they also haven't won jack. Why on earth would they be on the list?

If anybody on the Ravens' all-time CB roster had a chance to make the top 10, it would be C-mac and Starks...starks was probably not the best CB we've ever had next to c-mac, but they were both solid and won a championship ring.

As for today's CB's, we have great cover-corners with blazing speed and no chance for going deep vs us, but if we can get a shutdown corner somewhere then having Foxworth as 2nd corner, Washington as a nickelback rotating with rolle as dimeback, then we would have one heck of a secondary.

I'm surprised they didn't mention Rod Woodson and anyone. People forget that he played his best football at corner.

Rod Woodson played most of his time with Willie Williams on the other side was he any good?

I guess we will see if our current tandem deserves to be on the list, if it was fastest they would. I don't know if they can stand against CMac and Starks in their prime. Who I still can't believe didn't make the list, I was hoping someone knew these tandems and could fight for them. I just can't imagine all them being better than some of the last decade.

In the big game, CMac had a pick and Starks had a pick six. That tandem should have been somewhere on that list because they made a play where is mattered.

I think if they would have played more than 3 years together they would have most definately gone down as a top 10 tandem all time. Starks had 20 ints in 4 years and then after the 01 season our defense totally changed due to FA. And we all know how good McAlister was when he was in his prime.

Woodson and Carnell Lake were good in their day. Ronnie Lott has a beast.. I welcome the day another player comes along and plays the game as physical as he did without taking cheap shots.

I with CMAC had stayed healthy. I know he had his issues but I really enjoyed watching him on the field. I like what the brought to the table.

Imagine if we had Deion when he was in his prime with CMAC and Ed Reed on the field. I don't even think teams would pass the ball. That would be sweet. Deion in his prime on that 2000 team would have made us the unquestioned #1 D of any era. It would've been insane even tho we didn't need him in order to go all they way.

As much as I hate the Redskins, Hall was highly regarded during his time with the Falcons. And although he was a complete bust with Oakland, I would probably assume he just couldnt comprehend the system, considering he played extremely well with the Redskins.

The Eagles had a pretty good CB trio with Troy Vincent,Bobby Taylor, and Al Harris as the nickel.

All three have been to the pro bowl(for whatever that's worth).

What about Asante Samuels, Lito Sheppard, and Sheldon Brown not making the list? That was a great tandem but for some reason didn't make the cut.

Everyone sucks in Oakland.

Great/Good Players that played bad in Oakland:
Randy Moss
Deangalo Hall
Javon Walker
Dante Culpepper
Aaron Brooks

I know they were washed up before they went there, but Oakland was stupid enough to go after them.

Don't forget Fabian Washington.

Only people to perform in Oakland is CB Namdi and P Lechler.

Maybe we should trade for some of the few good players left in Oakland... seeing as they're giving them away for peanuts.

Randy Moss for a fourth
Fabian Washington for a fourth
Releasing D. Hall

How about a 4th for DHB in a few years when he looks like a failure in that system. Or Micheal Huff just switch him to Strong Safety.
