NCAA Football 10

15 posts in this topic

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone here owns NCAA Football 10, but if anyone does can you tell me if the game is worth renting? I am only renting because I only use NCAA Football to have draft classes I can import into Madden. I know there have been issues with the rosters, and I don't play online so I can't get the roster updates that EA made. I am a little worried because I can't find the accurate rosters anywhere online so I can type the names of the players in and with the rosters the way they are I'm afraid I'll be missing some key players. If anyone can help thanks.

If you liked NCAA Football 09, you'll like 10. Essentially the same game with a few minor tweaks. Not the major overhaul like Madden is getting this year.

I bought it the day of it's release and I'm still having fun with it. At least until Madden comes out though haha :P

Are you on Xbox or PS3? Because unless your console isn't connected to the internet at all, you can still easily get the updated rosters, named ones also.

I love the game. Granted, it didn't **** away with big changes (there's not that many compared to last year), but the defensive AI is much-improved and road games have more weight to them. I like the subtle little nuances, from the new animations to the realistically rushed throws when the pocket collapses (often, just as in real life, the ball will be lobbed in the air if you throw as you're hit.) The recruiting interface in Dynasty mode is improved from last season and recruits are much more receptive to your pitches than before. The 5-star recruits definitely make you work to earn their commitments, and when they're on the field, they play as well as you'd expect a top recruit to perform. I've also noticed that not all recruits below 3-stars are horrible, as some of them start with decent overall ratings and play reasonably well.

Overall, I'd say that it's definitely worth a rental, but if you're really into college football, it's also worth a purchase. If you play NCAA Football just to import draft classes in Madden, however, you're better off keeping it as a rental and putting your $60 towards Madden (which got extremely good reviews, from what I've read thus far.)

I just rented it today. I haven't played a single game yet, even though I should try to get through a dynasty since I have 5 days to play it. Right now I'm just trying to get as many rosters fixed with the real names as I can before I start a dynasty. I have Maryland done and I am halfway through the Gators roster. It just amazes me that I printed out accurate rosters and there are players in the game I can't find on the roster list.

You can save some time and download rosters from the EA Locker, as long as your Xbox 360 or PS3 are able to connect to the internet.

There are a ton of different roster, so you can look around and find the ones you like best.

That's the problem. I have a PS3 but can't connect to the internet therefore I can't get none of these roster updates. If I knew someone who played online and played NCAA Football 10 and got the updates I would just give them the disc and let them get the new rosters with the names on them for me. I may go through 2 or 3 rentals of NCAA Football 10 just to get through the rosters and a few seasons in dynasty and build up 2 or 3 draft classes I can import. I have Maryland, Texas, Oklahoma, Clemson and the Florida Gators rosters all done. I wish I could get the roster updates but I don't have internet connection that would work with my PS3.

My online service is Verizon and that is a chip that allows me to access the internet.

Ah, I see. Was just trying to help ya out, if possible. It took people forever to name those rosters, ugh. So was trying to save you some time

I completed a Dynasty with the Gators, went through the off-season and got to the players leaving section and just have a question regarding that. There are alots of players leaving Florida, some for Pro-Draft and some say Graduation. I did the export Draft Class to Madden 10 but am confused on if players will be missing from my draft class. I saw Tebow said Graduation, not pro-draft. I believe Brandon Spikes said Graduation as well, does that mean I'm not going to have Tebow or Spikes in my first draft class or will they be there? I guess if they won't be in the draft class, that means I'll have to do a new dynasty and hope they end up as part of the draft class.

Players that say "Pro Draft" are underclassmen that are declaring early eligibility for the Draft; however, if their rating isn't an 85 or higher, they probably won't be included in the draft class. Players that graduate that are 85 or higher are in the draft class.

I love college ball and being able to get accurate draft classes in Madden.

Alas, I live in the UK and NCAA games aren't released here: anyone have any idea if I can import to the UK, whether it is region free and if it is worth the buy?

It is region-free for the PS3, but you won't be able to connect online and play or download roster updates; you'll need to find a roster file via your PC and import using a flash drive. Unfortunately, I don't have my old roster files anymore (I haven't touched the game since the end of this past season), so I can't help you there. I don't think NCAA 10 is worth the buy, but I think NCAA 11 might be.

I can't stand how the NCAA continues to profit off these "athlete-students" and they can't even be recognized in these games, instead they're reduced to a number... their hypocrisy will never cease to amaze me.
