1. 1. What will happen through the season...

    • It is just training camp, Flacco will be as good or better than last year
    • Last year was a fluke, Troy Smith will get the start eventually

thank god no one voted for the second option.. if I saw even one vote in that I would have questioned the members' sanity here

That's one MIGHTY high completion percentage you've put there. What's he gonna do, throw 10 times a game and each throw is a TD or an interception?
Uhhmm, thats not "mighty high" at all. Here is an example.....If Flacco attempted the same amount of passes as last season(428) he would only need to complete 36 more of those to get 68.5%. Also he would only need to throw 7 more yards per game to reach 3,080. Whith the work he has been putting in I dont think that is a bad guess at all.

I like Troy Smith, despite falling from a Heisman winner to being a second string QB, he keeps quiet, stays content and does his job. Nothing more a team could ask from a player. But I think he'll want to take a crack at being a starter in the near future and with Flacco on the roster, he's going to have to try that somewhere else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but therefore I think that we should assume that John Beck will be our longterm back up QB.

Troy Smith is too valuable to be a back-up. I think he will at least get a shot starting somewhere and be at least average.

Sounds to me like a manufactured controversy to push dead tree papers... Just sayin'.

Flacco is the starter, regardless of how well/poor people perceive him to perform in camp. Further, if you want to bag on the guy, wait until he's got a few quarters of preseason games under his belt first.

All I can say, I sure hope training camp is no measurement of success for Flacco this season, I for one can say I'm a bit on edge to see how this plays out, I've been to camp twice and both times not impressive at all...... Let's just hope he comes around!!!!!!

I think Flacco will be fine this year. I get the feeling that people forget that he is still a young guy. Ints, mistakes, misreads, poor throws, and some poor decisions, is what you expect from a young QB. As long as Flacco's good moments outnumber his bad ones the Ravens will be fine.

Another thing people have to understand is that camp is much different then a game. Camp is just practice, and practice is just meant for working on things. Workings on timing, and routes and chemistry, blocking schemes, and protections. Not making excuses for Flacco or anyone, but i would imagine he would take a few chances in camp, just to get that timing and get familar with his WRs, so they know what to expect come regular season.

Much has been made about Flacco throwing off his back foot and his accuracy issues. While that is something to keep an eye on, again you have to consider the circumstances. Flacco is still getting comfortable with his online. New Center, new RT, Grubbs has missed some time, Yanda and Chester has rotated, so i would imagine that the pass protection has been great.

Right now the Ravens are just working out the kinks. The Ints Flacco has thrown aren't good, but the nice throws and TDs are. As we show last season Flacco gets better with time, not worse.

The most important thing i've read about Flacco in has is the fact that he is extermely pissed at his performance. I think it says something about a guy when u are you own biggest critic. He has being going toe to toe with one of the NFL's best defenses on a daily basis. Lets see how things workout against Washington this Thursday.

As for his overall season. Flacco won't have to put this team on his back, he just has to make the plays that are avaliable for him to make. The Defense will handle the rest. I've beening saying this for a long time and i still feel the same. The Ravens' Offense this year will look much like the Chargers offense of 06'. maybe not as proflic as that team but close.

68.5% completion is very high, dude. To put it in perspective, only 10 QBs in the entire history have eclipsed that mark for a single season..

Let's say Flacco does poorly in training camp. Do we understand what kind of defense he is playing against? It's not fair to say that Flacco is doing so bad in training camp when he is facing the best or second best defense in the league. Even the best quarterbacks in the league struggle against the Raven's defense. But I am glad he is facing this defense. It will only make him better

I'm not guaranteeing Flacco won't struggle a bit this year but I just don't see it happening. Flacco had very modest numbers last year but there were so many games that showed he has the skills and temperament to be a star QB. Flacco played well at home but to me, his best games were on the road which is a great sign. How he does against Washington on Thursday will say lot but even if he isn't crisp, people shouldn't panic and start talking about Troy or Beck. People need to understand that this team finally has a Franchise QB.

Joe will work out his mechanics and learn from the preseason encounters. He's probably trying to do too much and is taking risks because he thinks he's supposed to do more - gotta' be the leader... That's one of those sneaky intangibles that can bite him in the bum. He just needs to remember 'step and throw'.

I'm sure he'll regain his bearing, with Hugh and Cam's help, and get into game rhythm come Thursday.

Too many Troy Smith fans. Last year I was hoping Boller would break his neck so Troy could get a shot. When Boller went down (YES!!!) and Troy got the flu or whatever I have to admit I was SO excited to see what our rookie QB could do but was a bit disappointed Troy wasn't going to get his shot.
We went on to make it to the AFC Championship game with our rookie QB winning 2 playoff games in his first season (never been done before).
Now we are having this conversation after last year? Just because one writer is all over Joe jock doesn't mean he is taking steps backwards. And yes, remember he is QB'ing against the BEST defense in the league so cut him a bit of slack.

Like seriously guys - any QB who can nail two clay pigeons in a row with a football is a legend in the making!

Disclaimer - NO, I don't actually think the commercial is real.

Optimus Prime looks pretty real - do you wonder how they did that too? If not then you answered your own question.

I do realize he's playing against a great defense, but that's what has me on edge, there's another defense out there that is ranked as #1, so if he can't be handle our defense how will we ever beat the ST............

He has probably made a lot of very good plays in training camp he hasn't gotten credit for. He isn't just out there throwing interceptions all the time. I would rather him take risks and make some big plays over be too safe. Our defense is used to making up for the offense but if he can make our offense explosive and make big plays; that will be bigger for our team.
